The workout is done, & it’s time for breakfast. Like most of you, I usually eat oatmeal in the AM. I like my old fashioned oats cooked on the stove top, and then I have fun adding all sorts of different items: pumpkin, cottage cheese, whey protein powder, frozen berries, cheese, chocolate chips, almond butter – I’ve tried every combo imaginable. Yes, love my morning oats! However, Mr. Quaker did not dine with me this morning. After reading about this ice-cream on Jenna’s blog, I was so excited to find it in my local grocery store.
This ice-cream is dairy free and sweetened with agave nectar. Quite tasty. You can print a coupon here.
Who doesn’t love dessert for breakfast?!? Besides, I like my morning meal to be pretty high in calories and carbs. It helps to refuel me after my workouts and gets me through a busy day of massage clients. Things then got a little out of control when I thought about what I could eat with my ice cream.
Well, damn, might as well just make it a sundae. So, I added a banana, but no cherry to put on top. What to do, what to do? How about a dollop of almond butter? Perfect!
My very own breakfast sundae at 8 AM. My apologies to everyone at Mark’s Daily Apple (love your site)! The moral of this plate of decadent goodness is NEVER deprive yourself of your favorite treats. It’s okay to indulge every so often, but keep the following in mind:
1. Make healthy choices a majority of the time. When you do slip, let go of the guilt. Tomorrow is a new day.
2. Keep portions in check. Do you really want that entire piece of cake after a huge dinner? Eat a small amount or simply share it with others.
3. Breathe it all in and savor every bite.
