Working for an alternative medical doctor has its perks…like free samples:
I've declared myself the office's official taste tester.
VeggieGirl and I have been talking protein powders, and after she told me about Sun Warrior, I knew I must try some. If you haven’t already done so, please tune into episode 8 of VeggieGirl TV for the scoop on this product. We sell various rice protein meal replacement powders at work, and so I contacted Sun Warrior about possibly selling their powders. They were kind enough to send my entire office samples…all of which I took for myself. OK, OK, I left them one.
After yoga, I had the dilemma of what to make for breakfast. No oat bran.
New protein powder.
Rice protein pancakes with nut butter, mashed naner, and maple syrup.
I used this packet of Sun Warrior vanilla rice protein powder:
Great stats!
Sun Warrior prides itself on making a raw vegan protein protein powder. So in perfect Heather style, I cooked it…with eggs, and I’m so glad I did as these were my fluffiest protein pancakes ever! Do you think it was because the protein was grain based? I don’t know, but whatever the reason, I was in heaven. Sun Warrior, I’m a huge fan thus far, but I have a few more experiments in mind before you go replacing Mr. Sexy Hot, aka Jay Robb.
After working a bit (massage therapy biz is picking up…finally!), I went to meet my favorite Nashville model blogger, Justine for some Middle Eastern fare at Cafe Rakka.
Love this girl.
We had an amazing time stuffing ourselves with hummus, pita bread, and chicken. Justine, we must get our guys together for a double date…Soon!
After I'd scarfed down 3/4 of our shared hummus platter, Justine suggested we take a picture. Oops. My bad.
My Santa Barbara Grilled Chicken Salad. California meets Israel I guess?
Justine, once again, I had a blast hanging out with you. So glad we’re friends!
Before my afternoon client, I fit in a quick trip to the grocery store. Guess what I bought?
Justine, I went with your recommendation and bought the Kroger brand. There will be no breakfast dilemma tomorrow!
Please read this post for some very wise advice regarding diet and exercise. I couldn’t have said it better myself!
Check it out: I’m Every Gym’s Nightmare. Love that Kelly. If I could take her to the gym with me everyday, I would.
Night y’all.

I can’t wait to try that brand! I just wish it weren’t so expensive…I guess it’s worth it though because the container is so huge!
Yummy pancakes =)
Thanks for the hummus porn! I knew I forgot something at the grocery store…
mmmmm protein pancakkkkessss. love it! I’m glad you like the sun warrior. I just ordered the chocolate and vanilla (2.2lb tubs or whatever) on a whim, trusting veggie girl’s taste, but it’s nice to have another opinion.
I am sooooo jealous that you and justine get to hang out. you 2 are both pretty much in my top 5 favorite bloggers, so i am totally envious.
yay for oat bran!!!!!
Mmm…that hummus looks AMAZING! I’d like to try that protein powder too, it looks like it went great with the pancakes!
wow that hummus looks good! even though most of it is gone
yay for more oat bran!
Lucky you and your sample! It sounds fabulous, but I just tried Jay Robb and must say it was delicious.
I’m glad you got your oat bran and lunch sounds delicious! Good company is always wonderful too!
After a less than stella experience with another brand of rice protein, I might just have to give this a try–just wish it weren’t so $$!
I picked up some TJ’s protein powder so I could copy heather and make me some pancakes. yum!
With Love,
Emily
Those are some good looking pancakes! And some good looking bloggers! Looks like you guys had fun and delicious food!
I hope you enjoy your oat bran tomorrow!
That hummus looks like the real deal, and if you got it with soft, warm, chewy pita bread, I am beyond JEALOUS.
I really need to find a new tasty, yet reasonable protein powder. Oh Jay Robb…
That, my dear, is 10. How’d you do?
Sarah,
Good job. I think I only got in 4. Yesterday was a bit crazy. Does that mean I get sixteen today?
that powder looks good! so fun to meet up with a blogger
the lunch you had looks fantastic, i do adore hummous. hope the oatbran doesn’t let you down tomorrow!
Hey hey! I tried the powder too. It was MUCH better than the other rice protein, but when mixed in a traditional protein shake was still chalky
Probably just needs some masking! But I’m not willing to give up Jay Robb and his giant arms haha. Your protein pancakes always look AWESOME. So glad work is picking up!!! How are things with the house going? Adorable pic of you two- I vote you’re both models!
Hey Erica,
Such a horrible time be selling a house. Not one offer yet – thanks for asking though. Everything will work out eventually…right?
Yeah, I still think Sexy Hot makes the best protein powder.
thanks for the review!
the powder seems vegan favorite’s protein powder now. Unfortunately they sell online in gigantic bottles! I hope I can find smaller size in local stores.
You rock, Heather!!! Much love!!!
I loved your little blurb on Kelly’s blog! You ARE every gym’s nightmare
Those protein powder pancakes are perfect!
And that hummus platter… omg. I wouldn’t have been able to take a picture before inhaling it all either. Heck it’s always a struggle to take pictures before inhaling what I’m eating, I have zero patience when it comes to tasty food!
And I just read your little feature on Kelly’s blog. It’s perfect <3!
Heather-
I saw your post on Every Gym’s Nightmare and loved it! You are an inspiration lady!
I have oat bran and wheat bran on my list for the store today! I have been really needing something to keep my fuller longer and I’ve heard you say that this combo does the trick!
I love that you have found a blogging buddy to meet up with! You must have tons to talk about
Free samples at work would be so cool, especially when it is something you really want to try, like the sun warrior protein powder! I am glad to hear the review on it. Do you like it better than the Jay Robb powder?
Foods That Fit,
Oh my gosh, the oat bran/wheat bran combo so feeling. I usually use a half cup of each for a huge bowl of fiber goodness! Sun Warrior is definitely the best rice protein I’ve ever tried, but nothing beats Jay Robb’s whey in my opinion.
can’t wait to see what you think of the Kroger brand – that’s what I have. I like it alot, but I’ve never tried any other oat bran.
Brandi,
You have great taste in oat bran my friend. Kroger did it up right.
Thanks for the Sun Warrior link!!
That dinner looks fabulous and hoooray for restocking on the oat bran!
True Heather Style.. haha, love it!
That Sun Warrior protein powder sounds really good.. thanks for giving the recommendation! Now if only I can find a way to afford me some… hmm…
Have a great day!
Okay, I NEED to find a job that gives me free samples of protein powder, that would take care of half my income!!
I usually buy whey powder, but I’m thinking I should expand out and try some of the non-dairy kinds.
That lunch looks delish, btw. Looks like that hummus had no hope of survival!
Thanks heather for the response!
Heather i LOVED you on every gyms nightmare! what an awseome post dedicated to you!!!! i’ve never tried protein powder before, and i want to badly! i’ve heard some good reviews about yoru sexy man Jay haha. Do you think that one tastes the best out of the ones you’ve tried so far?
Hey Dailygoods,
Thanks so much! Personally, I like Jay Robb’s whey the best. Love the ingredients and the taste. Nothing better in my opinion. The Sun Warrior is good if you’re looking for something vegan and non-dairy. Otherwise, stick with Mr. Sexy Hot.
I love the stats on that protein powder! I will have to try and track it down. That hummus looks fantastic too by the way. Yum Yum!
How come when you make protein pancakes you get fluffy clouds of love and I get potholders? BOO. Try, try again I guess! Your hummus looks like it must’ve been awesome. Right now it’s hard to imagine anythign better than Sabra, but maybe that’s because that’s what is eating my fridge alive right now. I’m sure fresh hummus would be orgasmic.
Love Middle Eastern food so much. Hummus is probably one of my top 5 favorites. And when they serve it with warm pita bread…ahhh no wonder it goes so fast! Glad you and Justine had a good time!
So Kroger makes oat bran? Hmm, I guess I know where I can pick some up!
Glad the massage therapy business is picking up, too! I have heard about benefits of regular massage, but I’d love to hear your perspective sometime, especially since you work for an alternative medicine doctor.
Emily,
And yes, Kroger = good!
I’ve been thinking about doing a post on massage therapy. Thanks for the encouragement. I’ll put one together soon.
I’ve been hanging out with Jay Robb (it does sound like a rapper name, right? It’s not just me?), and once I finish my huge canister of vanilla whey protein I might try some other things just for variety’s sake.
I miss Kroger. That was my store growing up (along with Piggly Wiggly.) I’m always happy to go when I’m home. I’ll have to tell mom to try their oat bran!
GO VEGGIE GIRL!!! Heather, can we PLEASE go out to eat? ..or you cook for me?! I love your style, miss lady! Glad you & Justine had fun. & YAY for a job!
Yay for oat bran and bloggie get-togethers! The hummus looks amazing.
Thank you so much for the oat bran micro advice! And I see Kroger’s even puts “Microwaveable” on the box for cheaters….er, nukers like me. I am picking up some OB at the store today and I’m ready for it to rock my world.
Y’all are BOTH gorgeous.
I think my next attempt at something new will be protein powder. Sexy Robb really has a girl wondering.
Yay! I’m glad you had Mediterranean food! Best ever!
How sweet are you and Justine. I just wanna kiss ya’ll.
If VG loves it, I love it. Done deal. But you’re right – Jay Robb is a hot stud. Kinda got weigh the benefits and costs.
veggie girl rocks!
love that one pic of the hummus…I must have some tonight with my curry naan.
I’m glad that both you and VeggieGirl have endorsed Sun Warrior. I’ll have to pick some up once I run out of my gigantic container of Biochem, which I have had for ages. I think it would help if I didn’t buy so many samples of Jay Robb
You and Justine are so awesome. I’m glad you had so much fun – and love that you didn’t think to take a picture of the hummus platter until it was 3/4 gone
That just means you were super excited about it!
I’m excited to check out what you think of the Kroger oat bran now!
