A No Meat Meet-Up Kind of Day

by HEAB on August 14, 2009

Greetings.  Once again, I find myself at Starbucks, and I’m not even drinking anything.  The line is so long right now, and so might as well take advantage of the Wi-Fi while I wait, right? :)

Yesterday, I drove to Denver for the day.  I spent the afternoon hanging out with one of my best friends from high-school who moved there with her husband a few years ago.  On the way to her house, I stopped at Chipotle to channel my inner Caroline and Maggie. However, no fro-yo afterwards Caroline. :(

Chipotle, please come to Nashville!

Chipotle, please come to Nashville!

Lots of romaine, fajita veggies, black beans, corn, and guac.  There were also chips involved, and this meal really made me crave a Coke Zero…something that has not happened in a long time.  What’s up with Mexican food and soda?  They just go so well together, no? Anyway, Jenny, I had so much fun hanging out with you yesterday – love you!

Then, on my way to meet some other bloggers/readers in downtown Denver, look what I found…OK, that’s a lie, I totally Google mapped it before I left, and drove 3 miles out of my way to get there.

As much as I wanted to, I just can justify $98 for a pair of yoga pants.

As much as I wanted to, I just could not spend $98 on a pair of yoga pants.

Then it was off to WaterCourse Foods to meet up with some new friends.

Girls - I had the best time. We must do this again next summer!

Lindsay, Melissa, and Kaneil and I enjoyed some great conversation over a delicious vegetarian dinner.  Thanks for organizing Melissa, and Kaneil, I’m so excited about hanging out in Nashville in a couple of weeks! For dinner, I had the Macro Plate.

Crispy or grilled tempeh cooked in a teriyaki sauce served over brown rice. Served with steamed chard, arame, and homemade pickled cabbage.

Two meals out in one day. No meat and a little carb heavy.  Kind of freaks me out, but whatever.  Still yummy.

Look what I got from one of my favorite gluten free girls.

one-lovely-blogGluten Free Gidget awarded this to me with some very kind words. Thank you so much my friend.  Please be sure to check out her blog, especially if you’re looking for some delicious gluten-free recipes, including quinoa flake muffins.  I knew there had to be a good use for those things! ;)  I’m supposed to pass this award to 13 other bloggers, but y’all know I can’t pick just 13 – I love you all.

Happy weekend…I should really buy some coffee now. Hehe.

NO Fro-yo? So sad. I was able to visit Denver this summer for a few days. That place is beautiful. Much prettier than Arizona. Sounds like you girls had a great time.

Holly August 14, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Best type of meet up :-)

Lovin’ the arame on your plate!

Jess August 14, 2009 at 1:05 pm

I love chipotle. Thanks for the reminder that lululemon is in Denver! When we’re there in September I’m going to have to make a trip to check it out! :D

Mandy A August 14, 2009 at 1:09 pm

Heather, I agree we NEED a CHIPOTLE here in Nashville!!!

You are so tan, girl!! :)

Miss you!

brandi August 14, 2009 at 1:10 pm

glad you are having a good time :)

what a fun meet up! I have never seen lululemon clothing in person before – it would have been hard for me to resist, too.

carolinebee August 14, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Oh heather your chipotle looks glorious!! I loovvee the fizzy soda joy combined with mexi food- but I totally save my dollas for fro! I’m on a vacay, apt hunt right now- and all this eating out freakst the heck out of me! My mouth says love it, but my tum and head say STOP :D Oh well good to challenge all that i guess. Have a great day and coffee xo!

Maria August 14, 2009 at 1:11 pm

LOL, loved how you went out of your way to find lululemon. I like that store, but not too find of the prices either! I’ve never gotten anything from there!

Mmm, the vegetarian meal looks really yummy!

veganfritz August 14, 2009 at 1:12 pm

Starbucks, you megalithic corporate coffee company, you. Oh, how you pull the masses to be stimulated by your fair-trade lacking beans.

runeatrepeat August 14, 2009 at 1:16 pm

That guac looks amazing! I totally took advantage of Starbucks internet this week :)

Pam August 14, 2009 at 1:18 pm

I just can’t bring myself to pay that much for yoga pants either… Or $48 for a tank top. Maybe in my next life I will have a disposable income for things like that!

Marissa August 14, 2009 at 1:32 pm

The soda seems about right for Mexican food ;-)

Diana (Soap & Chocolate) August 14, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Wait…you mean to tell me there’s no Chipotle in Nashville?? WTF?! That’s some nonsense right there. Well anyway, your bowl looks pretty much identical to what I get whenever I go! Their guac rocks. Glad you had some fun meet-ups!

Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) August 14, 2009 at 1:44 pm

I’ve never been to Chipotle but it sounds great!

trish (girlatgym) August 14, 2009 at 2:04 pm

I’ve never tried lululemon – so I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I do know they are way pricey!! I would hope they are miracle pants for that price. HA!! I’ll stick to my $20 Target pants – they suit my needs for the hour or so that I am wearing them to workout.

janetha August 14, 2009 at 2:06 pm

woah, so it is not just me! mexican food makes me CRAVE dr pepper. that is the only real time i miss my addiction to it! i wish i could come across a lulu lemon store.. or even have one in my near vicinity to mapquest..

kristi (sweet cheeks) August 14, 2009 at 2:13 pm

I LOVE Chipotle!!!

Glad you had a good blogger meet up!

Shelby August 14, 2009 at 2:18 pm

What fun meet-ups! I love all your takeout food. I just had Chipotle last week and it was mighty delicious!

98$ on yoga pants?! You’re kidding?! I wouldn’t buy those either!

Sweetie Pie August 14, 2009 at 2:22 pm

I haven’t been to Chipotle in ages, although there is one near my office. I think I see a Chipotle lunch coming on next week. Glad you are having so much fun!

allijag August 14, 2009 at 2:36 pm

That chipotle looks super fab!! :)

What a fun meet up! I love Kaneil – I haven’t met her in person but she just seems like such a nice individual!

Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) August 14, 2009 at 2:44 pm

I’m glad I’m not the only one that gets Coke Zero cravings, haha…

Heather (be well & take care) August 14, 2009 at 2:57 pm

No Chipotle in Nashville? Crazy! They’re one of the very few “fast food” places I trust eating at. Look at all that guac! Can’t say no to that.

I’ve heard excellent things about Watercourse. I’ll get myself to Denver one day. It’s actually on my list of the 900 cities I want/need to visit. Ah, one day…

$98 for yoga pants?! I know lulu has great stuff, but really? Yeesh.

Maggie August 14, 2009 at 3:08 pm

I don’t panic about Chipotle anymore – it’s just too darn good. That is one place that I never worry about eating out at. I also don’t worry about putting prepositions at the ends of sentences :P

I get those coke cravings too.. No idea why. I’ve been having them a lot recently so I’ve been downing seltzer. This is why the Sodastream comes in handy :)

Happy Weekend!!

Kristie August 14, 2009 at 3:23 pm

Holy Chipotle, that looks amazing. I wish we had them here in Canada! That Guac… totally drool worthy.

Have an awesome weekend Heather!

JB August 14, 2009 at 3:25 pm

lots of guac! yum! the macro bowl looks good too! it doesn’t look very carb-heavy to me. hmmmm. this reminds me that it’s been a while since i’ve made arame! have a great friday, heab. :)

Kristen August 14, 2009 at 3:28 pm

Never heard of arame…I’ll have to look that one up. Is it tasty?

The chipotle looks ah-mazing!!

Erica August 14, 2009 at 3:29 pm

LOVE chipotle! We don’t have on in SC and we miss it so much. Their guac is awesome and everything is so fresh. Great blogger meet up too. Love all the fun you’re having out there ;)

Jess August 14, 2009 at 3:35 pm

Hey Heather!

Glad you had such a fun time with the meet-up. Don’t worry about eating out twice. You don’t do it everyday :) I LOVE Chipotle! I could really go for some now. I think diet coke and Mexican totally go together!

I just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to AB. I am loving it. My favorite is Maranatha all natural AB. I actually crave it now!!

jodie August 14, 2009 at 3:37 pm

I love Chipotle. Meat free is great, I agree with you re mexican food and soda, I am like that with pizza. Pizza and a soda always can’t just drink water with pizza.

Love lulu lemon. Thanks for checking out my blog and the recipe tips.:) Can’t wait to bake. YUM YUM.

Justine August 14, 2009 at 3:48 pm

Heabers!! How fun! What a bunch of cute girls. Mmm, I have googled Chipotle like 8 times looking for it here. I always forget we don’t have it :( . I just got some new place over by me and its called Blue Coast Burrito and I am thinkin its pretty similar to Chipotle. Question: What coffee do you order at Starbucks? I have always wanted to order something there but never know what to get.

Love You,
Justine

ksgoodeats August 14, 2009 at 3:55 pm

No meat and a little carb heavy – welcome to my life :)

I’ve never had Chipotle but it looks really good! That tempeh also looks amazing! Glad you had fun meet ups!!

Congrats on your award!!

Deb August 14, 2009 at 4:19 pm

OK, Chipotle is crack-ilicous. One of my absolute favorite Mexican places. Did you cross over to the dark side and have that Coke Zero?? (I was totally craving a diet coke/coke zero today too…maybe it goes hand in hand with internet problems!)

Your meet-up looked fun…and Grilled tempeh!! YUMMM. Your meals both looked healthy- try not to sweat eating out twice- I know you and I have that same little “rule” (which, of course gets broken now and again!)

Heabers, you’re looking so tan– are you wearing your SPF 50? Don’t make me worry about you!

Susan August 14, 2009 at 4:22 pm

More than one meal out a day makes me uncomfortable too – but you did fabulously!! That food looks wonderful!

Whenever I go to pita pit (or any fast-ish type food joint) I crave iced tea. Which is weird, because I’ve been a water drinker my whole life. But salty food just needs a sweet drink with it sometimes!

Tiffany S. August 14, 2009 at 5:27 pm

So glad you had a fun day!

So does Chipotle have a name for that creation or do you have to talk them through it every time?

I do love my Sodastream too but not as much as my Vitamix …

Can’t wait to hear what your weekend brings! Have a great one!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) August 14, 2009 at 5:44 pm

Ok don’t hate me…there is a Chipotle 8 city blocks from my house, and I’ve never been. And the one after that is another mile up the street, and the next one is another mile, etc. There are about 20 in a 5-10 min walk or drive. It’s SoCal baby, everyone wants their Mexican eats…except me. I say that Chipotle should pay you for that pic, your food looks awesome! But unfortunately for me it’s too cross-contaminated with gluten or soy or dairy for it to really be ok for me. Next lifetime :)

Anyway even when we were double income no kids (DINKS!) I still couldn’t bite at Lululemon, and I’m a yoga teacher! Prana, yes. Smaller, boutiquey, tiny labels for yoga clothes, yes. Lulu…sorry. These days, sorry, 98 is halfway practically to the Excalibur 9 tray I want :)

Enjoy your weekend chica!

Amanda @ Panda Lunch August 14, 2009 at 5:45 pm

I so agree, please come to Nashville, Chipotle!!! Maybe we can start a petition, LoL. And Deb is right, you look very tan, I’m a little jealous, great Mexican food and a tan!

Looking forward to the Nashville bloggie meetup soon!

missyrayn August 14, 2009 at 6:23 pm

They just opened a Chipotle semi-nearby me but I’ve been avoiding it. Before I would order a huge burrito with lots of cheese, sour cream and chicken and I’m afraid to go in and try it without ordering that. I’ll have to try your option. And you are right…soda and mexican just seem to go together.

Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) August 14, 2009 at 6:24 pm

Looks like a fun meet up!

Congrats on the award!

Rosey Rebecca August 14, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Aw! I love your shirt in that pic! Blogger meet ups are so much fun!! You always have tons to talk about!

Margarita August 14, 2009 at 7:31 pm

And here I thought that Chipotle is the same as Taco Bell (Bleh!) Apparently, you can get a decent stuff in there? Hmmm…I should try it out. We have one right next to my gym! :)

Again – sorry to have missed the meet-up! :( Definitely will try and make it next summer (as long as it is not the second week of August! ;) )

Carolyn August 14, 2009 at 8:04 pm

…i can’t believe you’re living in a yurt… and then blogging from a Starbucks… it’s perfect…

fartygirl August 14, 2009 at 8:49 pm

That tempeh meal looks insanely good… every last bit of it! :)

glidingcalm August 14, 2009 at 10:21 pm

I crave Chipotle all the time now!!!

Jessica August 15, 2009 at 12:38 am

For some reason I always forget how big lululemon has become. Most of the time I still think of it as just a Western Canadian store.

Unfortunately it is pretty pricey so I only buy stuff on sale there, but it’s right by my house so it’s pretty easy to stop in and check the sales rack once a week. I know people who have their yoga pants and have worn them several times a week for years with no real wear and tear. So the quality is definitely there, and that’s the only reason I shop there because their cult-like corporate culture frankly scares me a little.

Lara (Thinspired) August 15, 2009 at 4:35 am

I am glad you made use of all Starbucks has to offer :)
I am pretty sure that even if I was a millionaire, I couldn’t justify spending that much on yoga pants! Though I would have defintiely tracked down the store just to look. Then I would have gone to Target to buy some for $17.99 ;)
Love the group photo! I still have never done a blogger meet up :( Looks like a fun group. I know the two meals out must not have been ideal for you, but you did such a good job with ordering! The salad *could* have been something you whipped up at home, right? :)

Hayley August 15, 2009 at 4:57 am

I haven’t been to Chipotle in forever! I think I need to check it out sometime…your concoction looks so good! We don’t have Lululemon here, but my mom has bought me a couple of things from the store in Houston and I looooove their stuff. I go through exercise clothes quickly because of Jazzercise, but lululemon is definitely good quality. At the same time I agree with you – it’s really hard to pay that much for certain items. That’s probably why I wait until Christmas and my birthday. :)

What a fun get-together! You guys all look great..

polly August 15, 2009 at 9:10 am

hi honey bun!

Oh sweetie, I understand about eating out TWICE in one day, but no worries!! You are healthy and happy and life is sweet. You are peach and squeezable with your realness and honesty, LOVE IT. XOXO

Oooh that guac. Girl, it makes me smile to see my dear friend eat onions and cilantro infested food… hehehe :P I guess D will have to dine at Chipotle alone… :D I think they even add cilantro to their corn??? Come on, guys!! Don’t ruin the corn!!!

Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You go-juss inside and outside. Enjoy the weekend, sweetie. And YES, cheap yoga pants are the way to go. Hello Target…. $12.99 shorts/yoga attire/pajamas that I LIVE IN. :) XOXO

thedallasceliac August 15, 2009 at 11:39 am

Guacamole is SO good. I think I need to incorporate some into my lunch…

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) August 15, 2009 at 11:59 am

That salad looks *awesome*!!! I need some chipotle in my life! :D

Jenna August 15, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Chipolte looks so good, I’ve never been there! what a fun blogger meet up!!! :)

Christina (& Scott) August 15, 2009 at 7:11 pm

WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERE’S NO CHIPOTLE IN NASHVILLE?! How is that even possible?!?!

p.s. Go Cubs, go :)

elise August 17, 2009 at 3:16 pm
