Banana Lovin and Jay Robb Savings

Yesterday, I used the Wii Fit in our yurt.  The first time I Wii’d the following happened:

  1. I learned I cannot hula-hoop to save my life.
  2. My push-ups are only Couch Potato worthy.
  3. I discovered my kick ass talent for running in place.
  4. I was so sore that I could barely walk the dogs the next day.

Didn’t do any more Wii for 10 days…until yesterday.  It’s almost creepy how much that machine remembers about you, but it’s a great workout.  I improved all my scores, and I’m not nearly as sore today. Anyone else out there Wii?  I know Deb is a fan.  Oh CD…I think I have another investment idea for us. ;)

Afterwards, I made a smoothie WITH a banana. No berries included.

Oh my gosh, this bowl was so filling and surprisingly delicious.  The mix included:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 packet stevia
  • 2 TBSP chia seeds soaked in the water for 15 minutes
  • 1/2 tsp. guar gum
  • 1/4 tsp. xanthan gum
  • 4 – 5 ice cubes

Try the banana/romaine combo.  So light and refreshing.  The gums made it really thick and creamy, not icy at all.  For questions about the gums, I refer you to The Smoothie Girl, my gums pimp.

I’ve been thinking about getting a Wii fit. I get sore just bowling though! Pathetic! I recently got Donkey Kong thinking it would be a laid back kind of game–but NO, I get way too into it and end up making my back hurt from all the punching etc. Good grief! We don’t have TV, so the Wii is our current entertainment:) Definitely a good investment for our family.

I have a Wii Fit! LOVE IT..but my little JJ JUST wants to play and it just is frustrating….

I LOVE how it forces you to stand still in the yoga poses

well, now that Fall is near, I may have to go break it out!

I have put a lot of miles on my Wii and I hear there is a Wii (acitve???) now?

I just made a green monster yesterday similar to what you made today. I also picked up some guar gum and used it in conjunction with my xanthum gum (which I’ve been a fan of for awhile! yay for XG!) in a dipping sauce I made which turned out even a little thicker with the guar gum so that was cool.

My hubby’s parents bought a wii this past winter and everyone loved it! It’s a fun thing to have with a group of people and to have when weather isn’t nice. My father-in-law and I compete in the ski jump! The challenges are a great motivator because I just want to kick that computer trainer’s butt!! Have fun!!

yar wii is super fun. wii ea sports active is ten times as hard as wii fit though. lol. i was so sore after doing that game that i am scared to play it often.

I make that smoothie too, but don’t use the gums. It gets pretty thick, but I think that’s b/c I use 1 frozen and 1 fresh banana, and almond butter. So good!

Hi Heabers! Sooo glad you got back on the Wii, even after all of the PAIN and suffering. But it’s a GOOD pain, right my friend?!! :-D

All that talk about nannerz yesterday sent me running, not walking to the freezer today to take out some of the frozen gems for my smoothie-on-the-go today. I mixed it with choc. prot powder and some PB- yummmmm!

I have never gotten on ours after my very skinny co-worker said it called her by her husband’s name after she hadn’t been on in a while – RUDE!

We got the Wii and the W-Fit over Christmas and I love it. Unfortunately it’s been a long time since we pulled it out. Chris and I also got very competitive with the hula hooping. It really bothers me that he is better at it than me. I’m kind of with Mara on this one though – I wish you didn’t have to stop and start the exercises.

Have you ever tried shaking the remote really fast during the jogging one? Watch what happens to your little Mii…it’s funny. :)

My house is Wii free… so far… but i have heard good things about both Wii Fit and Wii Active…so an investment might have to happen…

Heather can you or anyone else talk about the differences or benefits of either / both…Which would you recommend???

I walk a lot…but my upper body strength leaves a lot to be desired… need to work on that

our family has a Wii Fit…it can be fun but it gets a little old after a while. I think there are extension packs/new games which might help keep it entertaining.

I had to give up the Wii Fit. The tightrope competition between me and my boyfriend got a little too intense :P

I’ve been wanting to do the romaine smoothie for a while now! Spinach smoothies give me digestion issues (too much spinach for me to digest at once!) but I have higher hopes for the nicer-on-the-tummy romaine…

I love the Wii! My mom got one a couple of months ago and my husband and I had such a good time playing with her. I am a horrible hula hooper. It’s just pitiful! But I’m pretty good at tennis, I found. I loved beating my division 1-playing husband!

I need to check out the guar gum and xanthan gum. I’m intrigued. And maybe I need to check out J. Robb while I’m at it! Thanks for the code!

you kiddin’ me Heeather?? you pulverize lettuce, throw in a banana and some gum (?) and water and call it good?? I know I’m new here.. but I gotta give that some thought.. done thinking.. eeeeewwwwwwwwwww.. I think that’s “advanced HEAB”.. I’m just a beginner.. will have to work my way up to that!

I feel like a confessor.. but… never had protein powder.. well, never had it a second time cuz the taste/aftertaste made me want to hurl… again.. beginner HEAB .. will have to work up to it!

I wish we had a Wii! It sounds like a lot of fun. So I had a smoothie today too! You should try my favorite combo– coconut water ~1/2 cup, 1 frozen banana, 1/2-1 whole avocado, 2 TBL chia seed & gel, stevia, sometimes cocoa sometimes not, almond butter (either blended in or blooped in top or usually both!). You will loooveee it. Screw the GI stuff, I tell myself the avo slows down the sugar spike. Love you! xoxo

And about your questions from your last post- I to have serious ‘reservations’ about eating at restaurants and I have yet to go hungry. Mine are in part because of what I like to eat and also because of my pepper allergy that covers the outside of my mouth in blisters which is none-too sexy.

Oh, Forgot to mention that I think Jillian Michaels has a Wii Fit game coming out and I’ve asked Santa Claus for one. (There IS a Santa Claus, isn’t there!!!??)

By the way, Justine- two comments: YES the XG makes a huge difference- HUUUGGGGGGEEEEE. (you’ll have to find the right amount or you’ll find you have a gelatinous blob if you add too much. But just the right amount is HEAVEN).

Also, you’re right – the scale can be brutal. Especially when it says “Hmmm, seems you’ve gained some weight…why don’t you tell me why you think that is….” and it gives you a huge list of boxes to check off like “eating too much” “not exercising enough” etc! Yikes! Gotta be strong to handle THAT!! :-D

I love love love my Wii. I got the Wii Active and LOVE it. Don’t have the Fit, but maybe one day. I am also excellent at running in place, despite the fact that I hate (and really can’t) run at all. Thanks for the Jay Robb coupon!
