Breakfast Tea

by HEAB on September 4, 2009

Wow!  Thank you so much for all your comments on my Moderaton post yesterday. I should have expected a big response when I actually hesitated before hitting the publish button.  First time that ever happened.  Anyway, thank you for your kind words, your encouragement, your dismay, your tears.  I read every word, and all of them…every single letter reminded me why I started blogging in the first place, to get my story out there & to help others with my experiences.  Again, many thanks.

Chris and I are going out of town for the weekend to visit friends and family.  I still don’t feel quite caught up from our Colorado trip, but I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone.  There will be no Internet access, and won’t see me again until early next week.  Before we leave, I wanted to leave you with some POM love.

IMG_3075I received some samples of Pomegranate Blackberry Tea as well as some Pomegranate Wildberry Tea.  Thanks so much POM people. :)

Some interesting facts about these teas:

POMx Tea is a refreshing hand-picked, whole leaf tea, made with POMx. Extracted from California-grown Wonderful-variety pomegranates, POMx has more antioxidant potency than red wine, green tea, grape and acai extracts…Great, but how does it taste?  Well, I’ll tell ya.

First, I poured 1/4 cup of the Wildberry flavor in my morning oat bran:

Oat bran mixed with POMx Wildberry Tea and topped with coconut and almond butters.

The tea added a very subtle berry flavor.  Delicious!

I then made POMx Tea cubes…

Most expensive ice cubes ever. :)

Most expensive ice cubes ever. :)

They went into the following:

Banana/romaine smoothie in a bowl with Blackberry POMX Tea.

Banana/romaine smoothie in a bowl with Wildberry POMx Tea.

Iced decaf with MimicCream & Blackberry POMX tea cubes.

Iced decaf with MimicCream, stevia, & Blackberry POMx tea cubes. Um, this was really good!

Again, I loved the subtle hints of berry in both dishes. Straight up, I prefer the POMx Wildberry Tea.  The Blackberry had too much of a strong black tea taste to it…almost bitter?  However, I loved the cubes in my iced coffee.  The Wildberry was very light and refreshing, and both teas contain less than 1 mg of caffeine per serving.  What are you waiting for…Drink up my friends!

A happy weekend to you all.  See you next week.

this is in reference to your moderation post.. I think its so funny that you said that about diet coke.. Honestly I thought I was the only one who could not drink one pop and be satisfied. Im like that with Stride gum too. Ha my family thinks its so wierd I wont buy it bc I can easily go through a whole pack in a day! call it addictive behavior or whatever but at least we are aware ..right?! lol im glad to see there are others out there like me!

Enjoy your time away. Sans Wi-Fi and the blogosphere. Enjoy!

Your pommy ice cubes in the decaf WITH the mimicream and the stevia….nice. I am going to buy some mimic this week to try. I just moved into a new house and across state lines so need to find all the new hotspot grocery stores for stuff like mimic.

Happy L Day weekend :)

Thanks for your reply regarding protein powder. I bought a vanilla protein powder which has 86% protein in it, it cost 10eur for a 375g box. I mixed it today in my oats and I’m pleased! So my oats had 9g of protein more:), not to mention the vanilla flavour. I enjoy reading your posts

Hey girl–
I’m a little behind, so I’m commenting on both this and your moderation post.
First, I would never have thought to put tea in my oats! Or make tea ice cubes! Great idea!!
Second…
You don’t do moderation. Everyone is different. I just don’t want you to feel bad about things like having a small dessert or eating something that makes you feel good. If you know you can’t do moderation, then by all means, do what works for YOU! I know I can’t do saltine crackers and pretzels or Cheez-its in moderation, so I cut them out completely too. I’ve been eating Mary’s Gone Crackers in place of my cracker/pretzel craving and it’s made a huge difference in my life. I don’t need to eat very many of them to be satisfied, where as with the crackers and pretzels you’d have to rip the bag/sleeve away from me or else I’d eat every last crumb in one sitting. I made the adjustment I needed to make, and I honestly don’t miss it. I know how you feel, I was fat at one point in my life too, so I try very hard to keep myself as fit and healthy as possible (for health reasons too of course)
So to sum it all up, do what’s best for you, but BE HAPPY. That’s what is most important. much love to you girl!
