Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!
Yesterday, Scottie, my brother, came over for our weekly Breakfast Club get-together…meaning he shows up at my house mid-morning after a late night of post CMA Awards parties, and I make him breakfast and coffee.
Usually, I have a nice meal all planned out, perhaps an omelet or French toast. However, yesterday, it was Scottie’s choice from any one of Katie’s oatmeal recipes. His eyes immediately stopped at Peanut Butter and Banana Fusion. Really, there was no need to look any further.
Onto the stove-top went 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup light coconut milk, and a pinch of Celtic Sea salt, and into the food processor went the following…

1/2 of a banana and 2 heaping spoonfuls of my NutellaBU. Nutella Banana Butter? Yes, it took everything that was in me not to dive straight in with my tongue. After the oatmeal finished cooking, I poured it in the processor and blended it together with the NBB.

Blended grains with Chocolate Hazelnut Banana Butter. Katie, you can do no wrong.

This is Scottie’s Mmm, Mmm, good face. Katie, he would also like to ask for your hand in marriage. Yay, we can be sister-in-laws, and you can teach me how to use chopsticks.
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Don’t forget to send me your Katie inspired POM Wonderful pomegranate recipes by Sunday night (November 15).

A cute guy who likes oatmeal AND is related to Heather (meaning he must’ve inherited some of the same wonderfulness)?

Your brother is one lucky guy to have a sis like you:)
That’s so cool you make your brother breakfast! I wish my brother lived closer than Boston!!
Hey Heather! I gave you a ‘shout-out’ on my blog – haha!! Anyhow – quick question (to you or anyone who cares to chime in here please!!) – how do you deal with “weird/negative” comments on your blog…I do moderate it and so can approve/unapprove…but still it’s somewhat ‘upsetting’. I had a weird comment about the food I eat and ‘tiny portions’ and ‘carbs’ on mine…when I don’t even post what I eat in a day! Usually just random things or groceries/new finds. I also don’t post portions. I feel that this is negative and don’t want to be viewed or judged a certain way. It makes me self-conscious and feel like it’s not worth ‘putting myself out there?’…but I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to do what I enjoy or like – without un-founded judgement. It’s my life right?? Sucks.
Jenn, I don’t moderate my comments, and I have received negative ones in the past, although they have never been personal attacks or anything. So, I’ve never deleted anything. I figure I’m putting myself out there, and people are entitled to their opinions. So, until I get a completely ridiculous or just really mean comment, I won’t delete.
Aww, Scottie is lucky to have such a good sister to make him delicious breakfasts. I’m not sure my little bro would touch oatmeal, even if I made Katie’s delicious version.
What a cute brother you have.
Heather-Just found your blog! I adore it! Just wanted to show you some blogger love and say I love the oatmeal dish you made—making oatmeal even more fun! I love the stuff.
Best,
Corinne @Green Grapes Blog
Corrine, Glad you found me. Thanks for reading, and you must try the oatmeal. So good!
My sister is amazing! It’s great to finally be living back in town and see her on a regular basis. The oatmeal was amazing.
Katie…I’m yours.
*Packs up all her oatmeal-making gear to move to Nashville*
*Hopes Heather will save some Nutella butter for her when she arrives*
Katie, Roger that.
Your brother is a cutie! That is some amazing sounding oatmeal
