Maria December 14, 2009 at 6:51 am

Nicole of Raspberry Stethoscope December 14, 2009 at 1:59 am

so sick of never winning any contest that I enter!!! hopefully this will be my lucky day? !??

Betsy December 13, 2009 at 11:34 pm

Hope I still made the deadline! I’ve been reading all these healthy living blogs for the past couple months, and I’ve been inspired to eat healthier, which is not easy for a senior in college. Lately I have been making frozen fruit purees (plus whatever I find in my fridge) for a snack, and this blender would be AMAZING. The one I use now is on its last leg.

Jonathan December 13, 2009 at 11:24 pm

Okay…it’s a hot Texas day in Austin and I need to make a cool-me-down treat with my vitamix blender…
Add some frozen blueberries, a splash of cocunut water, a ripe organic banana, hemp seed, dab of yogurt, and some really great dinosaur kale…blend, blend, blend…zzzzzzzzzzz…
Shazam! Vitamix me away! 🙂

Neslie December 13, 2009 at 11:03 pm

Smoothie Time, excellent!
Picture it HEAB. The strawberries. The corn. The goji berries. The beet. The cucumber. The apple. The avocado seed. No way. Way!

Lizzie December 13, 2009 at 3:18 pm

There’s so much I want to make with a vitamix! Probably would have to experiment with different flavored nut butters and of course smoothies (with gums!) fingers crossed!

Rebecca December 13, 2009 at 9:29 am

I’d love to win one! Perfect present for my mom 🙂

lisampls December 12, 2009 at 10:26 pm

to win a VITAMIX would be simply divine. i’ve been telling myself that even a wimpy little MAGIC BULLET isn’t in the slush fund budget for now (heat went out for the 3rd time this weekend and the heating element in the dryer is waiting to be replaced, most likely at the cost of my first born)–so, needless to say, to win a freakin’ VITAMIX would be simply divine. thank you for the opportunity HEAB! XoXo

Rachel December 12, 2009 at 10:13 pm

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now and love it. I don’t normally comment on blogs in general or enter giveaways, but I’m making an exception for the chance to win a Vitamix! 🙂

laurengarcia December 12, 2009 at 9:40 pm

OMG I would just die if I were to win this!!!!! My current blender is ancient, years older that I am! It would definitely see its fair share of use in my possession =)

Amy T. December 12, 2009 at 8:19 pm

You know…after the weekend I’ve had with deaths in the fmaily, our heat going out, a pinched nerve in my shoulder…this would literally lift me up higher than I can even imagine. Not making this up, lol – but seriously, it’s what I’m thinking right now. I really really hope I somehow can win this. Seriously. I would blend and probably cry every time.

Kay December 12, 2009 at 7:17 pm

What an awesome giveaway! I have been wanting a Vitamix for a while!!

kelsey @ kelseytoney December 12, 2009 at 6:47 pm

Kristina December 12, 2009 at 3:14 pm

My husband just broke my mixer (dropped the pitcher on the floor and shattered it!) I’m missing my morning green monsters desperately.

Jocelyne December 12, 2009 at 1:59 pm

I would love a vita mix! I think it will take my cooking to the next healthy level! Thanks so much for the oppurtunity to you and Vita Mix. I really connected to your blog when I first read it because a) I am battling weight b) I love yoga, it has changed my life c) I love to walk, specifically outside!!

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 12, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Jocelyne, Sounds like we have a lot in common. 🙂 Thanks for reading!

Patrick December 12, 2009 at 1:18 pm

I would DIE to win this. I just moved to NYC for college and I’ve been having some adventures using my currently blender which certainly does not do the job. My concoctions would be…..

the smoothest pumpkin-pie soup ever!!!!
Young Coconut shakes and ice cream!
and the most bumpin’ chocolate-banana-coconut milkshakes!

caroline December 12, 2009 at 1:00 pm

oh my goodness! as a poor college student i would love this! my current “blender” is one of those magic bullet things which my roommates have dulled to death making frozen margs! def in need of a heavy duty machine!

Natalia December 12, 2009 at 11:29 am

Hi Heather! First off, I really love your blog and look forward to all your posts. And second, this giveaway is so sweet of you. Personally, I think it would be a great birthday present for myself… 21 on December 17!! =) just sayin…

Nancy December 12, 2009 at 10:53 am

Heather, this is so kind of you!
I would loveee to have one of these babies for my college dorm. My room is smaller than a shoebox and a vita-mix would help me prepare lots of healthy snacks and drinks without taking up a lot of precious space 🙂

I recently started reading your blog and I actually bought some almond butter from Trader Joe’s for the first time, and it is so, so yummy. I’ve been dipping everything from baby carrots to sesame sticks in it. I can probably inhale half a jar of this stuff in one go.

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 12, 2009 at 11:16 am

Nancy, Best of luck in the giveaway. Glad you found me and SO HAPPY to hear you are enjoying your almond butter. Love, Heather

Lisa December 12, 2009 at 9:50 am

wonderful giveaway!! would love it!

Brianne December 12, 2009 at 8:18 am

Best give away ever! It would be very welcome in my house !

CaSaundra December 12, 2009 at 7:42 am

I could definitely fit one of these babies in with all the rest of my kitchen gadgets. 🙂

Sarah December 12, 2009 at 7:27 am

Hi Heather, a Vitamix would be a great upgrade to my Black and Decker, bought in 1997, for the purpose of making Slim Fast Shakes!!!!!

Rita December 12, 2009 at 4:57 am

I usually just like to lurk around, but I had to comment for this! I’m a mostly raw foodie, but because of my less than stellar blender, my morning smoothies often have big chunks of spinach that I have to chew as I drink… yuck… Love the blog!

Whitney December 12, 2009 at 4:12 am

I would make a simple smoothie to begin with. Why? Because my current blender (a hand-me-down from my parents wedding 30 years ago) now smells like burning plastic when I turn it on, and the result is a large lump of frozen berries.

Also, because, if I don’t get a Vitamix, my boy may just tape my mouth shut because he keeps hearing how much I want one!

Esther December 12, 2009 at 3:15 am

Happy 1 year HEAB!! I would love to win the vita-mix after reading about all the different ways that u use it 🙂

fattiefatterton December 12, 2009 at 1:03 am

Oh yes, the banana soft serve would be yummy!!

Nana December 12, 2009 at 12:28 am

long time yogi who is always watching your yummy edible inventions (your blog always makes me hungry though lol) Ive been craving to make some holiday nut butters with almonds and macadamias , along with that hint of dark chocolate, and Peruvian coffee yum ! funny story I actually burned out my friends vita trying this recipe but it survived but getting a vita mixer would make my next Christmases the best !

Tyrah December 11, 2009 at 9:57 pm

the best give away EVER!!!

Molly December 11, 2009 at 7:00 pm

Oh, what I wouldn’t do for a Vita-Mix. I would whip frozen bananas up into an icy treat!

fattiefatterton December 11, 2009 at 6:20 pm

Woot woot, entering again!! I want this very much!!

Michelle S. December 11, 2009 at 5:52 pm

i would love a VitaMix! I have a food processor I use every day but it is not great. I hear such good things about the Vitamix. I am glad to discover your blog through Meghan from Makin’ Love in the Kitchen.

Heather December 11, 2009 at 5:38 pm

I swore I left a comment before but I can’t find it now. I would love to win! This has me out of delurking. I love reading it, especially as a fellow Heather. You make me miss almonds. I developed an allergy after drinking almond milk 🙁 I miss them.

Angela December 11, 2009 at 5:05 pm

Would love one of these!

Mark December 11, 2009 at 4:47 pm

My wife would love, love the Vitamix. It is all she talks about!!

Denise December 11, 2009 at 4:46 pm

I would love a Vitamix to make soup and hummus. I have lost a ton a weight (137lbs and counting), so this will be awesome for my weight loss efforts.

Brenda December 11, 2009 at 4:44 pm

Long time lurker but the opportunity to win a Vitamix made me go legit!

Really enjoy reading your blog.

Kyle December 11, 2009 at 4:37 pm

WOW!! From all I’ve heard, a Vita-Mix is worth its weight in gold and I’m dying for one! I’d love to try making the banana soft serve and my own hummus. My current blender would absolutely protest the very thought of either! Thank you, HEAB! 🙂

Sarah December 11, 2009 at 4:02 pm

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win a VitaMix.

Emily December 11, 2009 at 3:57 pm

This is the best giveaway on the face of the planet. I have been wanting a Vitamix since I realized what a Vitamix was (oh it’s not a vitamin? phaha). It can blend a whole frozen banana? I must have this in my life. I am considering starting up a savings account for a Vitamix and putting in a dollar a day or something. However, that would take forever…lol! Owning my very own Vitamix. What a dream! 😀

diana December 11, 2009 at 3:50 pm

what a fabulous giveaway… a vita-mix would make wonderful christmas present (for me!!)

Suzanne Morris December 11, 2009 at 3:43 pm

My old blender just broke (FYI – dropping a utensil in a moving blender is not a good idea) so I’m totally in the market and would LOVE a Vita Mix. It would totally make my Christmas!

lisa December 11, 2009 at 3:22 pm

Oh! I’ve always wanted a Vita-Mix!!! 🙂

Tara December 11, 2009 at 3:16 pm

I thought I commented on this, but for whatever reason it didn’t show up! Anyway, this giveaway is just what I needed! My blender is old. Chunks of spinach in my green monsters? Yuck! I think I’d make nut butter (of course) and black bean soup.

Kate December 11, 2009 at 2:18 pm

I’ve never commented on any food blog before–HEAB you should be proud yours is the first one! I’m relatively new to the food blogging world. Happened upon it one day and have read everyday for a few months now. I keep index cards by my laptop at school and write down all the fantastic recipes I see/read. I’ve always wondered how to make some of the stuff without a VitaMix–(a blender can work, right?). Well, for christmas I was thinking of asking for one but realized I can’t ask my parents to fork over a couple hundred dollars. HEAB, all I want for Christmas is a Vita-Mix!!

Michelle December 11, 2009 at 2:16 pm

would love to make chipotle almond butter!

Marie December 11, 2009 at 1:38 pm

sending good vibes toward the vita-mix so it will want to come and live in my house in sunny AZ!

missyrayn December 11, 2009 at 1:32 pm

Considering I just broke my regular (new) blender with all my new blended fun I definitely want this 🙂

hilary December 11, 2009 at 1:05 pm

h-omg. praying for an xmas miracle!

Allison K. December 11, 2009 at 12:54 pm

*Dear Santa, ….

fattiefatterton December 11, 2009 at 10:12 am

Yay, I’m entering again since you said we could!! 🙂

Mrs. McCullough December 11, 2009 at 10:12 am

Dr. Santa (i.e., HEAB, CD, or Random Number Generator),

I have been a good girl this year. I’ve put away the dishes, folded the laundry, and made my bed (at least once a week). I may or may not have deserved a day or two on the naughtly list… but I’m a glass of milk and cookies half full type of girl. The good outweighs the bad, right?

I know the elves are working over-time this year with that specimen of a blender, the Vita-Mix 5200. It might just be their crowning glory. I mean, the engineering of such a fabulous machine is certainly something to be proud of.

I’m not trying to use flattery here, Santa. I know you get that a lot – especially from the boys and girls on the bad list. But golly! Your elves (under such tender care and supervision, of course) sure created a work of genius, and there is nothing I want more than to have one for myself waiting under the tree this Christmas.

You see, Santa, I could create some fabulous foods for the holidays season. What about a healthier almond milk/egg-nog creation? Or a blended cranberry sauce. Maybe some whipped sweet potatoes with an agave-pecan topping? Goodness gracious. And Santa, you better believe that next Christmas, you’d get an amazing treat for you and Rudoplf and the boys.

Well, think on this Santa. You’re my favorite jolly man.

Happy Holidays,

Jessie December 11, 2009 at 10:09 am

Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! Pick Me! Pick Me!

Megan December 11, 2009 at 10:07 am

Quinn December 11, 2009 at 10:02 am

Here’s a little story
I’m about to tell
It’s about a kitchen appliance
And it’s really swell

Mix it, blend it,
It does everything in the book
You won’t believe your eyes

I’ll use it for some smoothies
And for grains galore
Whip em’ up in that blender
and I’m out the door

Endless possibilities
Say it ain’t so
I need that 5200
it cures every woe

Mr. Random generator,
pick me please!
Vita 5200
makin’ life of ease

leslie December 11, 2009 at 10:02 am

Chrissy December 11, 2009 at 9:51 am

*Ode to the Vita-Mix*

Oh Vita-Mix, you are so fast and strong
That making my Green Smoothies will not take too long

Your blades are sharp, you can cut through ice
Winning one of you would be so nice!

I would make ice-cream, and soup, and blended things galore,
With you, my food intake will never be a bore!

I would blend every meal, each morning, afternoon, and night
If only you, Vita-Mix, were here in my sight!

My love for you, Vita-Mix, is definitely not mild
I would care for you like a newborn child!

Dear Heather, please oh please hear my plea!
From the goodness of your heart, please send a Vita-Mix to ME!

sweetandnatural December 11, 2009 at 9:51 am

I can enter more than once!? Oh my oh my. This would be the best early Christmas present ever.

Sarah December 11, 2009 at 9:50 am

I move into a new apartment next week. And although there will not be very much room, I’m quite certain I can make room for a vita-mix. I’d make room, and I’d make nut butters, and I’d make hummus, and I’d make fabulous smoothies….

Jess December 11, 2009 at 9:49 am

Enter more than once? You don’t have to tell me twice! Great blog about your hotel workout. I really need to force myself not to get in into a rut with exercise.

This would be the most amazing thing ever to win. I recently discovered lots of food allergies and had to make a drastic life style change. It’s been almost six months now so it has gone crazy fast! However, I need to expand what I’m eating, and know the Vita mix would really help with this, and I wanted to ask for it for Christmas, but it was too expensive to even ask for. I really hope I win, that would be a dream come true and a Huge help!

Luv2CUSmile December 10, 2009 at 10:06 pm

Heather thanks! Then I already posted at the Vitamix post! Your site is soooo addicting! LOL

Oh my gosh, wow, it would be so amazing to win one of these! As a college student I could never afford to spring for one of these on my own and it would be such a huge leap from my tiny and slowly dying blender! Green juice party… lol. I keep reading how awesome they are! Thanks for posting such a cool giveaway! Super exciting! 🙂

I told my husband that in Feb 2010 and April 2010 there will be 2 shows that Vitamix will be at. (The April one is actually the day of my birthday) I told him to start saving now- LOL It would be soooo awesome if I win this! Thx for having this giveaway! Is only one post allowed or multiple? Thx!

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 10, 2009 at 10:05 pm

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 10, 2009 at 7:13 pm

Olympia, HEBA, huh? I like it. 🙂

Beth December 10, 2009 at 6:43 pm

hey Heather!
I made the protein ice cream for the first time today because i have the flu and cant swallow anything. well i have made it before but never used xantham gum. needless to say i burnt out the motor on my blender. Man wish i had a vita-mix :). But that aside, did i use too much xantham gum? i used 1/2 ts xantham and 1/2 ts guar.
Also have you tried Life Basics plant protein? try it, it rocks!!
thanks for such an awesome blog, you are the best!!!

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 10, 2009 at 7:08 pm

Beth, I usually use about 1/8 to 1/4 tsp xanthan. I need to update my recipe. Also helps to blend all ingredients together before blending in the ice. I need to check out Life Basics Plant Protein. Never heard of it. Thanks for the tip, and best of luck in the giveaway! Love, Heather

Mrs. McCullough December 10, 2009 at 9:43 am

Need… Vita-Mix.

1. My old blender has accumulated quite the rust collection, and thus the blades are finiky and prone to stop spinning in the midst of a smoothie creation. It needs to be upgraded, but I just cannot swing the VM investment right now.

2. Gluten intolerance. Pricey. I’d love to use the dry blade to make my own flours from quinoa, millet, buckwheat, amaranth, teff, etc. Save a ton, and have some fun with new recipes to boot!

3. Green Monsters. Love em’. And need em’. Great way to boost the nutrition in a yummy snack. The VM would pulvarize any bit of spinach or kale chunk (which can ruin a Green Monster any day).

4. I have a pretend Vita-Mix drawing hanging from my kitchen cabinet. I have already christened a spot on my countertop for the beloved VM5200.

5. Protein ice-cream. Nuff’ said.

6. Almond milk! I’d love to make my own….

Mmmk. Could go on, but won’t. Moral of the story: a Vita-Mix would be a lovely addition to my life!

Quinn December 10, 2009 at 9:37 am

I need a Vita-Mix so my beautiful and talented wife can prepare Green Monsters on a daily basis. As a school teacher I’m destined to the free school luches which often include deep fried delacacies and wilted ice-burg salads. I need my nutrition via the fabulous and nutritious Green Monster – made quickly and efficiently with the famed VM 5200 machine.

My favorite ingredients are spinach, frozen bananas, almond butter (that one’s for you HEAB), and a squirt of agave. One more day of powdered potatoes and over-cooked green bean as my only sustinence? I don’t…think…I can… go… on… without the Vita-Mix. The Vita-Mix would cure all of my ails!

Liz Vogler December 10, 2009 at 8:48 am

Carrie December 10, 2009 at 7:40 am

I would love a Vita-Mix! I have been wanting one for awhile!

Camille December 10, 2009 at 7:37 am

Vita-Mix giveaway?!! As a lady living in a college dorm, that would REALLLLLLY help me from eating nothing but oatmeal, cans of chickpeas, and bags and bags of raw almonds (as I am not only wont to do, but HAVE been doing for the past 2 years! Dorm kitchens aren’t as creamy/dreamy/wonderful/well-equipped as most people imagine them to be 😉 ).
Enough moaning, though!!

I love the blog and I want your hair- it’s thick and gorgeous. I go through phases where mine will be thinning at a worryingly fast rate, but then as soon as I seem to stop thinking about it, the problem disappears. I remember in your weight loss post you mentioned that your hair was in really poor health until you incorporated more fats into your diet. I wasn’t lying when I said that almonds are one of the cornerstones of my diet, so I don’t think I have a problem when it comes to not taking in enough fat. So I ask- in your worldly travels, what diet switches have been the best for your hair?
That sounds totally vain, but I have a dumpling shaped head and would not make an attractive Sinead O’Connor if I did have to shave off the remaining scraggly locks I’ve got! I just don’t want to scare the children, you see 😉

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 10, 2009 at 8:02 am

Camille, Thanks so much for the hair compliments. Well, it sounds like you’re getting enough fat. That was my problem when my hair was dry and brittle. Not enough fat, and probably not enough calories in general.

As far as losing hair, stress can play a major factor as well as hormonal changes, genetics, or thyroid disorders. It’s also a major symptom of having PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).

Since your problem tends to go away when you stop thinking about it makes it sounds like it’s stress related. Do you think that might be the case? If so, maybe doing some things to relieve your stress levels will help. Breathe my friend. I know it sounds so simple, but some deep breathing techniques can change lives, and as far as your fat intake goes, almonds are wonderful, but make sure you’re getting enough Omega 3’s. If you’re not vegetarian, think about supplementing with some fish oil. Sounds like you’re getting plenty of Omega 6’s, but it’s the 3’s that we usually need more of in our diets. Hope this helps Camille! Love, Heather

Deb December 10, 2009 at 7:30 am

I would LOVE,LOVE,LOVE to win a vitamix, I have been dreaming of one for 3 years now since I started drinking green smoothies but with 4 children,I just cant justify spending that type of money.

Elizabeth - Cake or Death? December 9, 2009 at 11:34 pm

Um, this is pretty much the best giveaway EVER. My parents have a Vita-Mix and I keep not-so-subtly hinting that they should give it to me, but so far they’ve declined to take the bait. I can only imagine the awesome soups and smoothies that can be made in this baby!

Whole Body Love December 9, 2009 at 11:17 pm

I’ve been dreaming about a vita-mix for months!

Ami December 9, 2009 at 10:29 pm

WOWZA! I don’t know if I’m more shocked about the free giveaway or the number of responses on this post! It was just this morning that I was trying to justify buying one when we have 5 blenders in the house already… and also how I’d hide it from my if I did decide to splurg… Kinda hard to hide something like that and really, I don’t want to be blending green smoothies in secrecy in my bathroom…not cool! haha

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 10, 2009 at 7:50 am

Ami, There is no hiding the Vita-Mix. That thing is LOUD!!!

Kim December 9, 2009 at 10:14 pm

GeenyBeeny December 9, 2009 at 7:07 pm

Yes yes yes! Vita-mix! A week ago I completely blew out my tiny blender making Chocolate Covered Katie’s Fudge Babies. As in, the electrical outlet sparked, the breaker tripped and smoke literally came out of the motor as it ground to a halt.

Catherine December 9, 2009 at 7:01 pm

I’d love to win the vita-mix! I’m in desperate need of a new blender!

Katie December 9, 2009 at 6:51 pm

This definitely is one of my all time favorite posts! I have the Vitamix website bookmarked, and on my url and immediate history. I literally visit it at least 6x a week and google it etc. My friends are sick of hearing about it. I think I would never leave my apartment if I had one! It is so nice to see products that make living your best life so convenient and easy! As a true believer in Enzymatic Therapy, I LOVE that this doesn’t destroy the enzymes!

Say No To Sugar was one of the posts that really opened my eyes. That and the fact that you, a total stranger, responded to my request for help and showed up (via email) with heart felt, compassionate kindness and shared your wisdom with me. Your encouragement meant the world to me, and I have backed down on my overtraining and cut sugar (and dairy!) completely out of my diet. I am feeling so much better! thank you! thank you! Oh, I would LOVE a vitamix – all the foods you post (and other wonderful bloggers) look so lovely all blended up in one of those bad boys!

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 9, 2009 at 4:04 pm

Lisa S December 9, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Katie December 9, 2009 at 10:59 am

Best Give Away Ever!!! I cannot express how much I want a VitaMix! I look at them online at least every other day! They seem so amazing! I would use it all the time!!! I am trying to save up for one, but it would totally rock if I could win one!!!!!

Barbara Warren December 9, 2009 at 10:57 am

Wow! A Vita Mix??? My old blender has been pretty faithful over the years… but this would be an amazing addition to my kitchen countertop and menu planning!!

Heather December 9, 2009 at 10:56 am

A VitaMix?! Are you serious?! Holy guacamole…..yup. I could use one. DEFINITELY. 🙂

Kathleen December 9, 2009 at 10:51 am

What a great prize! I want one–but not for ME. I have a VitaMix already and use it almost daily! I LOVE making great shakes and “ice creams” in it–a regular “dessert” is frozen berries, canned coconut milk, erythritol to sweeten and maybe a bit of protein powder. Yum! If I were to win this, I’d give it to my boyfriend, a 46-year-old who’s lost nearly 50 lbs. over the last 3 years I’ve been “training” him! He’s full-time “daddy” to 2 kids and time is limited. This would greatly help his dietary efforts!

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 9, 2009 at 10:49 am

Thanks Sonia. 🙂

Gwen December 9, 2009 at 10:49 am

And here I thought you were kidding about the Vita-Mix. Thought it was too good to be true 🙂

i love your website, and i’d love a vitamix! 🙂

justrun December 9, 2009 at 10:31 am

I am not generally a giveaway person, I always figure there’s someone who needs it more, but oh heck yeah I will enter this one!

Sonia S December 9, 2009 at 10:26 am

I would love love love to have a VitaMix!!! I grew up with one in the household and my dad used to make me kale and banana smoothies when I was in elementary school….that didn’t go over too well when I was that age, but now I love them!

PS Love your blog! You are such an inspiration to me!

Allison Rentmeester December 9, 2009 at 10:03 am

Ah! I commented yesterday, but when I just went to check what number I was, it wasn’t there! 🙁 Anyway, I would LOVE a new blender. The one we use (I’m in college) is SUCH a piece of junk…it makes chunkies not smoothies! lol Congrats on the 1 year!

Nichole December 9, 2009 at 9:55 am

A vita-mix??? Will that fit in my stocking?

Emily December 9, 2009 at 9:44 am

I need a blender so bad- we have a 10$ we bought from walmart six years ago that is dying. I’ll be so jealous of whoever wins this one!

Misty December 9, 2009 at 9:41 am

I would love a Vitamix! My $19.99 Sunbeam just isn’t cutting it anymore. And you should rethink the autographed picture of CD — his quotes of the day always crack me up!!

oooh, i have been dying for a vitamix for such a long time.

Sandy December 9, 2009 at 9:29 am

Kim December 9, 2009 at 9:26 am

I’d absolutely love a Vita-Mix. Heather, you’ve inspired me to make my own food blog, although with my schedule, I realized I wouldn’t be able to keep up with it as often as I’d like. I made a photo album instead, a la YOU!

Two things I want for Christmas:
1. VitaMix
2. Ice Cream Maker

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 9, 2009 at 9:31 am

Kim, Where is the photo album? On Facebook?

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 9, 2009 at 9:22 am

Lena, Yes, 30 minutes of yoga here and there is great. Here are some online suggestions:

– Polly has some great online videos perfect for beginners. They are all about 10 minutes in length, completely free, and a great place to start b/c she does the yoga along with you. – Dave Farmar: http://www.davefarmar.com/. His podcasts are pretty advanced and free. However, I’ll be honest, his constant talking drives me nuts! – I also really like Sadie Nardini half hour power series. Maggie posted a link here: http://www.thesaladgirl.com/2009/01/07/refreshing-power-yoga -sequence/. – Yoga to the People has 9 different 60 minute power yoga classes you can download as well: http://www.yogatothepeople.com/tryOnlineClass.shtml – You can try tons of free 20 minute classes over at http://www.yogadownload.com, one of my favorite yoga websites. Love all their classes, especially the new videos.

Wow, that’s a seriously awesome give-away!

As for the Vitamix, I do confess that I have one! So I’m not worthy. But good luck to the winner.

Lisa December 9, 2009 at 12:54 am

Cool giveaway! I really need a blender and it would be awesome to win!

lena December 8, 2009 at 11:49 pm

Hi Heather, this has nothing to do with your give away as i don’t think i qualify since i live on the otherside of the world.. 🙂 but i was wondering if you could enlighten me on this… does doing pilates or yoga give the same toning results as if you use weights? or how would it differ?

If i did yoga or pilates, do i still need to do weights (i.e. strength training)?

I would like to try yoga or pilates but am hoping to find out more before i fully embark on it. As i have been doing strength training with weights all this while, i thought i could switch things up a little and you have done yoga, hence my asking.

thanks. great give away! i wish i could participate! 🙂

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 9, 2009 at 5:35 am

Lena, First off, read this post: http://heathereatsalmondbutter.com/2009/04/24/confessions-of-a-former-runner/ .

Yoga has toned my body like nothing else. I ran and lifted weights for years, and never saw results like I have with yoga. I’ve heard many people say the same thing of Pilates although I haven’t done much of it myself. Yoga will lengthen as well as strengthen your muscles, and it is a wonderful toning workout for the entire body in my opinion. It depends on what kind of classes you take as power and vinyasa yoga will strengthen your body in different ways than say hatha yoga or yin yoga, but all are great.

Cherie December 8, 2009 at 11:02 pm

Oh man…I’d be in smoothie and nut butter heaven if I won!!! I really want to try to make soup in a Vitamix too. So many fun & yummy possibilities!

I so want to make some nut butter with chocolate. Or Bailey’s Irish Creme. Or both! Yes, both. That’s what I would make!

Scott December 8, 2009 at 9:45 pm

That’s a good give away sis! Don’t give it to me though, I still have the one you gave me as a gift years ago (which I still use daily!)

Good luck to the other comments! See you at Yoga.

Meghan December 8, 2009 at 7:29 pm

faith in food

LisaCazz December 8, 2009 at 5:28 pm

Woo hoo!! A Vita-Mix? You’re in the big leagues now! Btw, I’m a daily reader/lurker but never comment. I thought I’d come out of the woodwork though and tell you that I despised oatmeal (not in cookies, of course, but as a meal) before I started reading your blog. Once I saw you had piled some nut butter on one of your creations, I thought I’d give oatmeal another try. Now, I’m eating it several times a week and adding anything and everything to it. Some good, some , well… But my husband and I are both enjoying having something new. And, let’s just say kabocha has a warm place in our hearts as well.

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 8, 2009 at 5:47 pm

LisaCazz, Happy to spread the oat love. Thanks for reading. 🙂

Katie December 8, 2009 at 5:22 pm

I need that vitamix!

New giveaway, music, fitness and foods – http://katiechangesforkatie.blogspot.com/

I’d love for you to visit!

Theorist December 8, 2009 at 4:54 pm

I would make mixed raw nut butters…

Ashley December 8, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Ooooo…I was so close to getting one of these last month for my bithday/Christmas presents…but opted for a new camera lens instead : ) I don’t regret it one bit, but this is now top on my wish list (yes, I sheepishly admit I have way expensive tastes)! Awesome giveaway, thanks!!!

busylittlelexi December 8, 2009 at 4:37 pm

I keep reading all of these great Vitamix recipes & I have been lusting over one forever. What a great giveaway?!?
Hope you’re doing well!

Holly December 8, 2009 at 4:10 pm

I’ve always wanted a strong blender that can hold up to the smoothies I make and I’d love to try and make some homemade nut butters!! Happy holidays!

Shannon December 8, 2009 at 4:09 pm

omg. you don’t know how fast i clicked on over here. i just have a hand blender…. which works for most things, but not all. i think your kabocha ice cream would be first on the list… but how to decide? so much fun would be had. i’d even throw a party. you’d be invited! dueling vitamixes?? 🙂

MarathonVal December 8, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Ohhh my lordy, I would do just about anything for a Vitamix. Seriously Heather, if you pick me, give me any crazy stunt and I will do it. Die my hair pink, kiss a pig, you name it!

Every morning I make a green smoothie for myself and my husband and I have to stop and stir about 60 times because of my terrible, out of shape blender.

Thanks for running this giveaway and have a great day!

Tina December 8, 2009 at 3:35 pm

I’m glad you addressed the point of growing into your niche. Sometimes I get a bit frustrated that I’m not consistent in what I blog about and I don’t have a “profile” yet, but it’s nice to hear that there’s hope and that I might grow into it.

Thanks Heather 😉

I’m off to read your old posts!

Heather December 8, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Tiffany December 8, 2009 at 3:13 pm

All I can say say wow- I’d would be ecstatic if I won this! I’ve had my blender for 15 years and while it’s served me well, I think it’s time to say goodbye. You know something is wrong when it can barely blend frozen blueberries. Thanks for the giveaway!

Jenny R. December 8, 2009 at 3:07 pm

OMG vitamix is so nice to do that! I’ve been wanting one of those thingies for soooo long…wow

Erin December 8, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I could really use a new blender. The one I have is one that my dad gave me several years ago. It has to be at least 10 years old. I rarely use it cause it doesn’t work well. But i would use a new one to make hummus, smoothies, soup and so much more 🙂

Jewel December 8, 2009 at 3:00 pm

WOW..what a giveaway!

Congratulations on a wonderful year of blogging…I am so glad you have found your niche…I have certainly enjoyed reading in it.

Mallory December 8, 2009 at 2:16 pm

how have i pined over this blendalicious appliance?
oh, let me count the ways…
i know it would make my smoothies just that much smoother…
i could make banana soft serve like all of my favorite bloggers (and not have my poor baby cuisinart food processor sound like i’m torturing it…)
and dare i say i could even make my own nut butter?? ohhh wow would that be a great day.
smoothies, soft serves, and soups – oh my!
this little appliance would make me the happiest gal ever (in the kitchen anyway…)

i hope you ignore the dorkiness of my post and enter me in the contest anyway 🙂

Congrats on the whole year!

Erika December 8, 2009 at 12:04 pm

Well, I would really like an autographed picture of CD, but I guess I’ll try for the Vitamix… haha. This is such an awesome giveaway and I really really really really hope I win it. My Magic Bullet is totally on the fritz and I’ve been debating whether to suck it up and get a new one. Winning the Vitamix would totally make the decision to toss it for me. If I win the vitamix I will most likely be gifting it to one of my relatives who has been lusting over mine, and is in no financial shape to even consider buying it for her family. Tis the season of giving for sure!

Oh Heather, I enjoy all your posts, new and old. Plus isn’t it great to see how far you’ve come since first beginning to blog? And I’m excited to continue following your blog and hopefully meeting your for real on eday!

Betherann December 8, 2009 at 11:45 am

Woohoo! What a fantastic prize! I would love to have this, especially as I’m now officially addicted to Katie’s fudge babies: http://www.kitchencourage.com/2009/12/wannabe-babies.html My blender is too much of a bum to tackle the task adequately…

Stephanie December 8, 2009 at 11:43 am

Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. I am so excited. I have been wanting a Vita mix for so long. If I won, I’m pretty sure I would throw up from excitement.

As for your blog-iversary, congrats! I have been trying to start my blog but I am having trouble sticking to it. What keeps you motivated and continuing to blog?

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 8, 2009 at 12:43 pm

Stephanie, Good question – I think it’s the comments and email I get everyday. So kind and encouraging. I started my blog to get my story out there and help others, and when I hear back from people that I’m actually helping totally keeps me going. I love it. 🙂

Janelle December 8, 2009 at 11:43 am

Ellie December 8, 2009 at 10:01 am

OHH MY GOD!!! I need one SO badly, my blender is on its last leg and gives off this awful smell whenever I try to blend ice, which is just not conducive to making protein ice cream! I’ve been dying to try blended oat bran…I would simply cry tears of happiness if I ever won this.

eatmovelove December 8, 2009 at 10:01 am

Oh my goodness – amazingness HEAB! Generosity is a beautiful thing, especially at this time of year. theemptynutjar December 8, 2009 at 9:36 am

Hi Heather
I think that is the point of the blog. It is meant to evolve and the person evolves with it. Chances are your posts may be entirely different after another year from this.
A blender would be a georgeous gift to someone. At least a good Christmas or wedding gift.

Kim C. December 8, 2009 at 9:35 am

Oh my goodness. WOW! I would probably cry with happiness if I won a vitamix!!! I am keeping my fingers crossed! 😀

Megan December 8, 2009 at 9:29 am

AHHHH. PS happy BDAY heab!!!

Allie (Live Laugh Eat) December 8, 2009 at 9:25 am

This is the ONE staple I am missing in my kitchen! (well, I’m missing a lot of staples). But honestly. The magic that could happen in my Brooklyn abode!! Thank you for the awesome week of giveaways Heather!

P.S. There’s a giveaway on my blog today too–you should enter! It could be like karma 🙂

apartmentnearchinatown December 8, 2009 at 8:33 am

A real one? No kidding. I’m not sure I would ever leave my kitchen if I had a VitaMix! It looks like everyone is as shocked as I am. Ha!

Well, here’s to mixing it up (very powerfully)!! 🙂

Dori December 8, 2009 at 8:32 am

I would make vegetable soup with squash, eggplant, avocado, mushrooms and vegetable broth and it would be so smooth and easy for sensitive tummy to digest!

The Say No To Sugar was definitely one of my favorite HEAB post to think back to. And I agree that I can’t understand what I was thinking with some early blog posts

Laura R December 8, 2009 at 8:25 am

I would die for a Vita-mix! My sister has one and can’t stop talking about how much she loves it and how much I NEED one.

No vita mix combo for me today, but oat bran with pumpkin and a touch of molasses. A new combo for me, but it’s perfect for the 4 degree morning that it is! Love reading your blog. So impressed with your creativity in the kitchen. Bring those dogs back to CO and come see us again!

Heather Eats Almond Butter December 8, 2009 at 8:11 am

Jess, Would love to…been dying over all of Jillian’s amazing photos of you guys in the snow. So beautiful. I miss it!!!!

Melanie December 8, 2009 at 8:08 am

I’ll jump on that one! My blender sucks. Totally.

Regarding your blogging evolution…I kind of like going back through and reading how you came to your current eating/exercise combo. It was really interesting to watch you get started with regular yoga and then get into your groove with that. I think it helps to show people that no one really has the right answers when starting out.

And I still have no idea what I’m doing with my blog, to be honest…it’s like this cacophony of simple living/knitting/food/cat obsession/religion/soapbox. Hopefully I’ll settle into one soon;).

Here’s to a year of HEAB:)

Kayla B December 8, 2009 at 8:06 am

I totally need a new blender. The one I have now is a hand me down from my grandmother that is probably 15 years olds. Ah! I’m so excited!

joy December 8, 2009 at 7:59 am
