Got Cream?

by HEAB on January 26, 2010

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

After yesterday’s post, guess who arrived home from work with a big jar of tahini in hand? Hehe. So CD didn’t actually bring any tahini home, but CD, keep it in mind. Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it. ;)

You know what I did this morning? I’ll give you a few hints…

1) I haven’t done it in a month.

2) It lasted 100 minutes

3) I worked muscles I forgot I had while some man with a really deep voice chanted in the background.

Well??? Yoga! Yes, I went back to my favorite studio for a morning vinyasa class. It’s actually my last week to work with Lindsey, my online personal trainer, but I just couldn’t wait any longer to get back in the studio. The class was challenging in so many ways, and I was so happy to be back. I’ll do a more formal summary of my thoughts on this month’s workouts later this week. They’ve been great, but my heart belongs to my yoga mat.

OK, onto breakfast…

I had a cup of coffee before yoga and planned on a smoothie when I got home. However, it’s so cold out, and I just wanted something warm. So, I made an omelet instead. I know my food pictures are getting uglier and uglier, but I’m beyond trying to make them look pretty. What matters most is the taste, right? This morning’s breakfast? TAH-STAYY!!!!

IMG_4312.JPG

I whisked together 2 whole eggs, and then poured some of Mae’s pizza cheese into the middle before flipping my omelet, making a huge eggy, cheesy mess. I then drizzled the top of my egg slop with tahini. Oh my, or I guess I should say Ohh May. ;) Katie has been telling me to add hummus and nooch to my eggs. Katie, thank you from the bottom of my heart. This totally hit the spot, and I think I might have it again for lunch!

I had wanted to make a smoothie because Janetha has requested pictures of fellow bloggers showing off their smoothie ‘staches. Janetha, I simply could not do a smoothie this morning…so, I improvised. I brewed up a big mug of rooibos tea from Maggie (Thanks Maggie!) and topped it off with some whipped heavy cream and cinnamon. So, how about a cream ‘stache? Does that work? (Please forgive the post-yoga hair)

P.S. I just googled this post’s title, and it’s also the name of a porn movie…the search engine terms are about to get really interesting! ;)

P.P.S. If you haven’t done so, please check out my guest post on protein intake over at Run.Lori.Run. Thanks!

OK, one last thing, I promise. Don’t forget tomorrow’s online bake sale for Haiti relief. You know you want some Maple Nut Oaties!!!!

I have no yoga stamina! I am jealous you can do it for 100 minutes because after 45 I am exhausted!

Heather (Heather's Dish) January 26, 2010 at 11:52 am

this is hilarious! you have to promise to show the search engine stuff again this weekend, it’d be great to see what happens :)

The Fit Collegiate January 26, 2010 at 11:53 am

Delicious breakfast! And I’m so glad you returned to your first love, yoga, after a month-long break from it! I was forced to put my yoga practice on hold, too, because my elbow was bothering me, but I’ve since gotten back into it after buying a $100 month unlimited special at Hot Yoga Nashville! Love the Power Yoga class. :-) Have a good one, Heather!!!

missyrayn January 26, 2010 at 11:57 am

EE January 26, 2010 at 12:40 pm

Heather, what brand of nutritional yeast do you recommend? I figure my Whole Foods would carry it, but I don’t think I’m looking in the right place.

Heather Eats Almond Butter January 26, 2010 at 1:35 pm

EE, I usually just buy my nutritional yeast from the bulk bins at Whole Foods. Not sure of the brand.

melissa @ the delicate place January 26, 2010 at 12:44 pm

gah i um had 4 tbsp of tahini yesterday. i eat it like peanut butter since i’ve given up that legume! tahini love!

Maggie January 26, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Yes yes yes!!! I did yoga today too. It is so wonderful.

Abby January 26, 2010 at 1:03 pm

I only ever buy tahini when I make hummus.. I need to make it a staple in my diet!!

Heather @ Get Healthy With Heather January 26, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Haha sweet stash!

Mae (OhhMay.Wordpress) January 26, 2010 at 1:33 pm

You just reminded me that I haven’t had an omlette in a long time!! That needs to find it’s way onto my menu very soon.

I used to cook my omlettes in pancetta grease (I know, I’m so lady like!) and add roasted red peppers and broccoli. I wonder how that would be with pizza cheese/ humnut cheese??

I love the breakfast photo of you- It’s so cute!! :-D Have a great day Heather!

Heather Eats Almond Butter January 26, 2010 at 1:35 pm

Mae, I gotta start using the term “humnut”. Brilliant!

Lori January 26, 2010 at 2:02 pm

haha! Love the stash!

Veggiesmack January 26, 2010 at 2:12 pm

I think your omelet actually looks pretty good!

Melissa January 26, 2010 at 2:29 pm

oh you´re such a naughty gal! even the drizzled tahini looks a little obnoxious… or maybe that´s just me : )

Angie January 26, 2010 at 2:38 pm

I love seeing your diet “change ups”- I completely get it. For so long I wanted to fit in a category- vegan, vegetarian, low carb, no carb, blah blah blah. Now I own it- I’m just HEALTHY! Go figure :) My husband is constantly confused by what I’m eating one week to the next, but he’s getting used to it :)

Heather Eats Almond Butter January 26, 2010 at 3:34 pm

Angie, Happy to know I’m not the only one. :)

caronae January 26, 2010 at 2:39 pm

Glad you got to back to yoga today! I would miss it if I didn’t do at least a few little bits here and there for a month! Hope you’re Tuesday is going swimmingly.

Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg January 26, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Love the cream mustache!! :-) Have fun with those search terms!

Gracie January 26, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Mmmmm omelets. I don’t know what picture you’re looking at because that looks DELISH to me!! ;)

runningaroundnormal January 26, 2010 at 3:19 pm

I knew just looking at the title dirty thoughts were going through SOMEONE’s head! bahaha
Nooch and hummus in omelets eh? I’ll have to try it out! Looovin’ the stache, too :D

Mama Pea January 26, 2010 at 3:36 pm

I wasn’t going to guess you did yoga until you said it lasted 100 minutes. Dang! No offense CD.

Danielle January 26, 2010 at 3:56 pm

haha I thought you were holding a jar of marshmallow fluff :)
I must save that recipe for Mae’s pizza cheese!

JW January 26, 2010 at 4:01 pm

Hi Heather. I have seen this Tahini a lot on your blog and have seen it in health food stores. But what does it taste like? Texture similar to PB??

Heather Eats Almond Butter January 26, 2010 at 5:09 pm

JW, Tahini doesn’t taste like peanut butter. It’s ground up sesame seeds. Some people find it to be quite bitter, and usually prefer it mixed with something sweet like honey, etc. I love it all on its own. So good. The texture is more runny than PB – makes an excellent drizzler. :)

Katie January 26, 2010 at 4:15 pm

So glad you liked the combo! I had an avocado hummus (made with avo instead of oil) and nooch scramble myself this morning. So incredible.

sophia January 26, 2010 at 4:34 pm

lol, you’re adorable, Heather. Love the moustache!

And I gotta say, you’re one of the few bloggers who actually eat WHOLE eggs. Amen, Hallelujah to that! Why waste the freaking nutritious, and not to mention delicious, yolk?

candice January 26, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Lovin’ the ‘stache. ;) That omelet looks so fluffy and cheesy and, well, perfect. I need to learn to make beautiful omelets like that one!

I just read your guest post and i thought you might be interested in this…

http://articlesofhealth.blogspot.com/2009/02/build-blood-build-muscle.html

I followed this diet a year ago and lost 55 pounds in 5 months and was the healthies i’ve ever been in my life. I don’t do it anymore…because i like food =). But if your up for a challenge, you will probably get the results your looking for if you follow this program. I need to go back on this so bad…..

Heather Eats Almond Butter January 26, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Thanks for the link Tiffany. I totally agree with him that excess protein is converted into glucose and stored as fat. That’s why I’m back on board the fats train, but I’m with you…I like food too. :)

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) January 26, 2010 at 6:01 pm

Heather, hello my friend!!!!!
I love the yoga talk in this post (that your heart belongs to it!..I just posted an hour ago about a 2.5 hour master class i took yesterday with Dharma Mittra and 250 other yogis here in phx, it was lovely!), and i dig your little moustache for Janetha….it’s great!

I have been reading Lori’s blog lately but am about to cruise over for your guestie.

The brussles with Mae’s sauce from the last post look awesome.

And hot coffee in the winter, there is nothing better for me :)

I am soooo thoroughly glad you enjoyed my yoga post! Thank you for stopping by and Manduka, Be Present, duly noted that you enjoy those items, too :) I like Lulu somewhat but it doesnt fit my body (or my wallet!) properly no matter how hard I try. I will also never be a Gap Jeans girl, nor a lulu girl I guess :)
xoxo

Omlet looks so good!

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) January 26, 2010 at 9:18 pm

Hee hee- what haven’t you done in a month that lasts 100 minutes- you crack me up! And the porno film- crack up!!

Ya know I goofed up the “cheese” in my Heablike omelet I made just now for dinner (couldn’t be bothered to turn on the laptop to get the recipe)…I did tahini instead of hummus- it was gorgeous but it wasn’t melting like I wanted it to :0(
I also added too much nooch.

Glad you’re back to the love of your life- (your yoga!)

psychoj1 January 26, 2010 at 9:42 pm
