Ever heard of the website iHerb, an online company that is a reseller, carrying close to 18,000 natural products? iHerb was kind enough to give me a $50 shopping spree, and they’d like to offer the same to one of you. Pretty cool, no?
I must say I was overwhelmed by iHerb’s huge selection, but here is what I ended up ordering…
Kind of a random assortment of goodies, but definitely some good buys. For some reason, I keep trying hemp protein products as I know hemp is a wonderful source of so many nutrients. I haven’t had much luck with hemp protein powder, but I do like hemp seeds and was excited to try these Nutiva Hemp Chocolate Organic bars. I busted into one earlier this morning.
Not to sweet and very crunchy with a “seedy” taste. I thought it was delicious. CD thought it was nasty. Yay, more for me.
I also ordered some soy lecithin to use in my homemade nut milks and coconut milk kefir. The lecithin acts as an emulsifier and makes for a very smooth and creamy beverage. Although I am soy intolerant, soy lecithin doesn’t seem to bother me as it doesn’t contain any soy protein.
The other items rounding out my order were all beauty products. I am not a product girl, and buy most of what I need either at Target or Whole Foods. I tend to spend a lot of money on food, but I rarely buy make-up, shoes, clothes, purses, etc. In fact, I have a rule when it comes to purses – if I can’t throw it in the washer, then I don’t need to be carrying it.
Anyway, I’ve been wanting to try cocoa butter as a skin moisturizer for a while. A few years ago, I used coconut oil everyday after my shower, but it started staining my clothes. I’m hoping the same won’t be true with cocoa butter. It smells wonderful, like a big tub of chocolate. However, like coconut oil, it’s solid at room temp and kind of hard to dig into. So, when I shower, I let it sit in a sink full of hot water, and by the time I’m ready to use it, it’s liquified. My skin feels so soft. I love it.
As far as the hair products go, I have naturally wavy hair, and honestly have no idea how to tame it. My basic routine is to rub in some leave-in conditioner, comb it through, and then use some type of styling product to scrunch. I’ve been using Giovanni’s Leave-In conditioner ever since Averie recommended it to me (Thanks A!). It leaves my hair soft and never weighs it down. Plus, it doesn’t have a strong smell as I’m not big on smelling like a walking hair salon. The conditioner costs $7.99 at Whole Foods and only $5.17 at iHerb. Score! And last, but not least, I chose some Kiss My Face styling gel and tried it for the first time this morning. The grapefruit scent is lovely, not too overpowering, and I love that my hair looks wavy but not crunchy – definitely a product I will be purchasing again. This is me about 5 minutes ago…
