WOW!! Ipads are so cool. Too bad I don’t have twitter!! :)

Carbzilla April 29, 2010 at 9:09 am

OMGoodness – I’m gonna be a Twittering fool and get hubbie on it as well (since I won’t let him buy the IPad yet).

Scott April 29, 2010 at 9:18 am

Thanks sis! I’m happy to open up the contest to include comments on your blog as well :) Good luck to everyone!

-Scott

(my poor Twitter followers)

Erin April 29, 2010 at 9:35 am

Awesome giveaway!

I love the fact that I can have a special song made for my fiance. We are getting married this October and I think this is a great idea as a gift to him during our wedding. Thanks MusikPitch!

Nichole April 29, 2010 at 9:39 am

How exciting! I think MusikPitch is a great idea and I really like the fact that ANY songwriter can get on that website and have access to clients without have to know someone in the business. I could use an ipad! :)

eatmovelove April 29, 2010 at 9:45 am

No Twitter here either…stay away from that bandwagon thus far :) But good luck to those entering – awesome win!

And, HEAB – you look like a country RockStar -seriously!

adrienmelaine April 29, 2010 at 9:46 am

Congrats to your brother! Looks like a great project he’s gotten himself into!

Mara @ What's For Dinner? April 29, 2010 at 9:47 am

Very cool!! Congrats to your brother on his endeavor!

Jenn (eating bender) April 29, 2010 at 9:54 am

How gorgeous are you, Heather? I’ll answer that – so gorgeous! You and Jessica Rae just glow in those pictures!

Anyway, vanity aside :) How COOL for your brother! I totally love that he has started a new business! I am equally proud! What a great way to kick it off, too. Off to Twitterland!

paige April 29, 2010 at 10:00 am

Good idea, Scott! Clever way to make paying jobs and access to artists available to all. I would have used a service like this to get specific music for a short movie I made a couple of years ago. Will spread the word.

Marissa April 29, 2010 at 10:04 am

I like that musikpitch can link creativity all over the world. It opens the door to SO many amazing collaborations. You won’t be limited to just people you know through local networking. Pretty darn cool if you ask me :-)

Erin April 29, 2010 at 10:06 am

Despite my desire to win an iPad…this is a great idea. I really have always wondered how small companies or companies just starting out could get quality music for their ads. Problem solved. Awesome idea.

Oh, and the website is super user friendly. Great job to your brother.

Danielle April 29, 2010 at 10:06 am

I want to win!!

Tabitha April 29, 2010 at 10:14 am

Flipping hell, number 1 just blew my synapses!

Sarah R April 29, 2010 at 10:16 am

Wow! I think the whole idea is so creative! It gets so many people involved and I love that you get to chose from all of the options. Very, very cool idea.

joy April 29, 2010 at 10:26 am

What a great idea of a website I hope he does well

robin April 29, 2010 at 10:36 am

wow, people’s creativity never ceases to amaze me. your parents must be so proud of you both! I like the idea of being able to use the site to create your own unique mix.

JoanS April 29, 2010 at 10:46 am

My sister is a musician and a graphics designer. She will find this site very useful!

Thanks!

Holly K April 29, 2010 at 10:46 am

the best thing about musikpitch is the encouragement of imagination from the songwriters and the flexbility that the customer has for the price. It seems that everyone is in a win win situation and we all love to win!

Great blog heather :)

Cellabella April 29, 2010 at 10:47 am

Great idea! Here’s what I like about Musikpitch – You get to decide what’s music to your ears, all for a song!

jacob c April 29, 2010 at 10:52 am

Woah, that is a great idea, hope it is successful! I like the custom made song idea from songwriters. No twitter acct though..

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 29, 2010 at 11:00 am

Jacob, I updated my post to included any commenters on HEAB as well, and so consider yourself entered. :)

Jenn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) April 29, 2010 at 11:02 am

Awesome contest!! :D

Jenn

Ashlee April 29, 2010 at 11:03 am

What an awesome concept. My brother-in-law works in the music industry and works with a lot up and coming artists. This would be perfect for them and getting out there with writing music. Also, it is so cool that you can have songs written for any project. Good Luck to your brother!!

Rosa April 29, 2010 at 11:04 am

Yay! I did mine on Twitter.

PS: I’m jealous of the pretty curly hair that’s going on in that pic!!

Katie April 29, 2010 at 11:04 am

Love the new site Scott, especially how it is open to people all around the world. I will be listening to hear the next top 40 song singer say they got their song on Musikpitch.com

Lea April 29, 2010 at 11:18 am

heabs…does this mean i can enter eventhough i don’t twitter. please say yes!!! ^_~

cool…i can get someone to write me a song just for me…would be even more awesome if the one i loved would do this for me.

srsly you look like a country rockstar with your gorgeous hair.

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 29, 2010 at 11:25 am

Lea, Yes! :)

eatmovelove April 29, 2010 at 11:18 am

Really? Any comment? Best Blogger Award…? ;)

Kristina April 29, 2010 at 11:24 am

that is a really cool idea… if you’ve got some lyrics that need some music, you can find someone who fits your style. I like it.

oh, and the Ipad’s pretty cool as well. :)

Kristina @MendonPondMusings April 29, 2010 at 11:25 am

yeah – i can enter (otherwise I was going to have to join twitter today).

This is a super amazing website – what a great idea. I love how it can connect a up and coming songwriter to a specific project.

Lara (Thinspired) April 29, 2010 at 11:32 am

What a cool idea! I support any company that makes music accessible and affordable :) Sounds great!

*Andrea* April 29, 2010 at 11:33 am

fabulous giveaway :) !!
i love your brother’s entrepreneurial spirit with this site! the idea of the contests where u have a say in setting the budget and working with songwriters seems really active and participatory!

Claire April 29, 2010 at 11:37 am

It looks like an awesome middle man to connect the two parts together!!:-)cc

runnerforever April 29, 2010 at 11:41 am

Very cool. I love the outlay of the site, very modern!

Emily April 29, 2010 at 11:48 am

I really like the concept of musicians being discovered and having a connection point to various projects. It’s also neat that those looking for a musician or lyricist can find one through the site. In music, collaboration is really important, and it’s great to see a website that allows for this. I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere!

Brittany April 29, 2010 at 11:48 am

Wow I love the concept behind his website! It is very unique, and I have never seen anything like it!! It’s that great that he is giving away an iPad! We can’t even get them here in Canada yet, so I’ve been waiting and waiting. Fingers crossed I win! :)
Thanks for the chance to win!

Keri April 29, 2010 at 11:58 am

This is a really cool idea! To connect businesses (or artists, or even just regular people) to musicians for unique collaborations is definitely a service to both communities.

Awesome prize, too – I would love to get my hands on an iPad :)

Hildur April 29, 2010 at 12:11 pm

I love it! I always struggle with presents for my dad, for his next birthday I might just launch a contest and give him a song! I like the fact the you can choose the price yourself, that makes it available to so many people.

Mr. Thinspired (Matthew) April 29, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Great idea!

Hopefully it will help real talent get a leg up in the world and let the rest of us experience some new and unique sounding artists!

Carolyn April 29, 2010 at 12:15 pm

.. I want red hair now…

Lisa April 29, 2010 at 12:45 pm

As the partner of a musician who can’t tour right now because of a bandmate’s injury, I love the idea of them being able to find projects that will inspire them and allow them to continue to create/feel productive. I sent the website to them right away!

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 29, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Thanks Lisa!

Quix April 29, 2010 at 1:06 pm

That is soooo smart – most people just rip copyrighted music for demo reels or presentations – this would allow them to both be put in touch with and employ an up-and-coming musician and do things legally without paying arse-loads of royalties. Love it! Totally awesome prize too. I’ll definitely be tweeting!

Talia April 29, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Musikpitch is AWESOME!

As someone who plays guitar and writes songs (mainly for a personal creative outlet and sentimental gifts for family and close friends) this seems like an AWESOME website to allow musicians to expand and broadcast their individual talents based on customer/client needs. The fact, also, that it prices and terms are set by individuals instead of corporations is wonderful! I may just have to upload a few of my own;)

Thanks HEAB for posting this contest! Would love love love to win! :)

Talia:)

eef April 29, 2010 at 1:21 pm

I think MusikPitch is an awesome idea! I think it will open up so many opportunities for musicians, AND it’s awesome that you could go there and basically have people make you a custom song. Would be a great idea for a wedding or anniversary.

Uhm, so yeah, I guess that’s what I like about it. I’ll tweet this as well. =]

freckledfoodie April 29, 2010 at 1:38 pm

Awesome giveaway, heabs! MusikPitch looks so neat! It looks like it would be a great gift for an aspiring musician out there! Prayyyyying to win! Hehe.

Jaime April 29, 2010 at 1:44 pm

what a great way to tap into the international music scene as well. i think there are many people out there that can be exposed to a lot of great music geared towards their likes and dislikes. I am quite impressed with such innovation! Best of luck!

Mandiee April 29, 2010 at 1:45 pm

I like that MusikPitch unites singers and songwriters and gives them a change to play “American Idol”, if you will, and have many options. Your brother has a great idea!

I don’t have a twitter but since I’m under 18, this is for my mom. Thanks for posting this contest, HEAB, and I hope your brother is very successful!

Have a lovely day!
xox

Pure2raw twins April 29, 2010 at 1:51 pm

What awesome giveaway! I just tweeted!

Wish you brother the best of luck and we will do whatever we can to help spread the word.
We love to support new small local companies!

Nicole P April 29, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Hey Heather! AWESOME giveaway :)
I like how there is a chance to look for a songwriter (so people can express themselves and enter into their future dreams!). I just think this is so cool!

Marie April 29, 2010 at 2:32 pm

This site is awesome! And being a music major and now music teacher, I really appreciate it. I love how it helps everyone stay connected, those who have talent, and those who need it. So easy. Brilliant!

Maggie April 29, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Yeayyy!! You know how much I liked his other site.

Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) April 29, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Wow, what a great idea for a company! This will give so many people the chance to make music and be connected with companies that would probably have not heard them! I am happy for your brother and his new endeavor! I don’t have twitter, but maybe I will get lucky from my comment here!

gina (fitnessista) April 29, 2010 at 3:07 pm

that is so awesome.
your hair looks AMAZING!
love you friend <3

kristen April 29, 2010 at 3:14 pm

I think the concept of the website in and of itself is entirely unique; I have never heard of a website that basically commissions people for either a song writer or to write a song for someone…it’s very unique :)

Jen April 29, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Wow, what a creative idea!! I hope his website goes well!

Joanna April 29, 2010 at 3:27 pm

I’m a music major, and I think is the coolest idea! I have many friends who are composition majors and know they struggle to get their music heard. This is a great tool because it’s like social media for song composition! I love the ‘song contest’ idea and how interactive it is. I also love that users can name their own price. This will allow music to be accessible to many more people. Congrats!

Christopher April 29, 2010 at 4:54 pm

Great site. Its great that it will allow good music to be accessible to anyone. I’ve done some video work and know that finding the right song can be hard. This will make it so much easier.

Alicia April 29, 2010 at 5:29 pm

What a great idea! I absolutely love it. I think the contest is a great way for song writers to get “discovered”.

Tanya April 29, 2010 at 5:59 pm

Very cool site and what a clever idea!! I think it’s a great way to communicate with so many songwriters/musicians. It seems very accessible for even younger songwriters too. Yay for your brother :) Also seems like a great way for newer, smaller businesses to get jingles, especially if they can’t pay so much in the beginning.

Abbey April 29, 2010 at 6:19 pm

I think it is an awesome way for people to make their own music and not have pay out the a$$ for it :) That always wins in my book! Congrats to your brother for being a force behind something so innovative and inspiring.

Danielle April 29, 2010 at 6:22 pm

WOW – what a great company! Kudos to your brother. I think the coolest thing about MusikPitch is not only does it give the contest launcher a personalized song with full rights to match their needs, but it also gives a talented artist who might have a hard time breaking out in the industry a nice shot at it!

caronae April 29, 2010 at 6:37 pm

What a unique website idea! I love how the music each “customer” gets is totally individualized. Sounds pretty awesome to me :)

Alisa April 29, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Um, out of touch alert. So what exactly is an i-pad? No seriously.

Adorable pics!

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 29, 2010 at 6:48 pm

Alisa, No idea really. I don’t iPhone or iPad. Heck, I was excited to finally figure out iTunes. ;)

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) April 29, 2010 at 6:41 pm

I would love a shot to be entered! musikpitch…would be cool for my hub’s business as a resource.
and your hair..and you, Heabs, are looking smokin hot my friend :)

Melissa S. April 29, 2010 at 7:21 pm

I could’t play the pitch on your blog but I checked out your site and it looks awesome! It looks like a really awesome concept and totally something I would be into if I were still playing/writing music!

Kelsey April 29, 2010 at 7:35 pm

this is such a great concept!!! i love how anyone can utilize it!!

Katherine: What About Summer? April 29, 2010 at 7:36 pm

Thanks again for your help! your beautiful face is up on my blog (the day you decide to take a break from food, of course)
I appreciate it!

Laura April 29, 2010 at 8:11 pm

I love that because it inspires creativity and is an excellent outlet for music artists that aren’t well known! I’ll be tweeting!

Jackie April 29, 2010 at 8:22 pm

I think Musikpitch is actually a really great idea. As the video first began, I was skeptical – however, my mind was quickly changed! The most unique aspect of Musikpitch that really differentiates it from other systems is it gives equal opportunity to both the songwriter and the purchaser. It allows for people to work within their means, but have the flexibility of finding something that they’re happy with. What a great idea.

Jamie April 29, 2010 at 8:37 pm

What an awesome idea! I know quite a few people that write songs but they didn’t know how to break into the business of selling them. This website is a great resource!

angelalovesfood April 29, 2010 at 9:12 pm

That is cool, ha. I want my own themed music! :o )

Natalie So April 29, 2010 at 10:07 pm

i like that with musikpitch you can basically have your own soundtrack!!!! customizable! so cool

Katie April 29, 2010 at 10:55 pm

You get to say exactly what you what you want AND pick out the winner? And the songwriters get to do what they do best? This is genius.

Alright: sister’s wedding, she’s funky, she likes the 80s, looking for a song to walk down the isle to. GO….

paijery April 29, 2010 at 11:52 pm

OMG I would probably blow up my twitter account with tweets if I had one!
Your brother is a genius! Musikpitch is SO COOL! I love that you could have your own original wedding song (or just everyday song :) )
Also, what a crazyawesome giveaway!! The mister wants an Ipad soo bad!! xx

Ibu April 30, 2010 at 12:33 am

Cool giveaway…I am happy that I can write songs and submit it on Musikpitch!

Carolyn April 30, 2010 at 5:43 am

What i like best about the Musikpitch concept it that it allows talent that otherwise would not have a venue to be heard in, has one. Lots of wonderful talent in the world.. Not too many Simon Cowells (thank god) to carry you to the top of the charts.. This is a way to get there on your own…

Dee April 30, 2010 at 6:17 am

what an awesome site! i love how the site connects songwriters to the regular person. I work for one of the big 4 music publishers and this is a very rare occurrence indeed!

Allie (Protein Girl) April 30, 2010 at 6:46 am

Okay that’s awesome! I think Musikpitch can help me get my own personal theme song to play every time I enter a room! Does the runner up get a 16gb TamPod?

Annie April 30, 2010 at 6:53 am

What an absolutely FABULOUS idea!! I love creative people… probably because it’s a trait I do not have! I spent 3 hours looking for just the right song to put to a video for nurses day this weekend… mmmmmm…. maybe I should do a contest!!

SUPERLICIOUS!

Holly April 30, 2010 at 7:04 am

Heather, this is amazing! I think the most unique aspect is that *anyone* can potentially sell their music — even poor college students! ;) Since I am at a huge acting/film school, I will be sure to circulate this! Best of luck to your brother!

Kathleen April 30, 2010 at 7:43 am

I just send this link to my friend who is a songwriter here in New York! I love that Musikpitch gives both new and veteran songwriters the opportunity to share their talent. As an artist I know how frustrating it can be to have so much to give but not know where to give it!

Corinne April 30, 2010 at 7:48 am

I love that musikpitch will give unknown writers a fairer shot in getting work, which means the music community as a whole will get more diverse songs to enjoy.

Scott April 30, 2010 at 8:58 am

Thanks to everyone for such amazing feedback on the site. I’ve read and enjoyed all of your comments (and blogs). What an incredible group of people here on HEAB!

Natalie April 30, 2010 at 9:08 am

Wow! Musikpitch has the right idea! I mean what a great idea for gifts for that special someone. They can just go online, set a price and see what people ALL OVER THE WORLD have to write for them! With this unique idea, people will get many different variations of songs they want and there won’t be hidden surprises of a big bill on the end. How cool!

Christin L. April 30, 2010 at 9:22 am

Your family is so creative! What an amazing idea to really get the music out there!

Jessica April 30, 2010 at 9:53 am

That is an awesome giveaway. The iPad is great, the docs where I work are transfering to them, going paperless!!

LindsayH April 30, 2010 at 9:55 am

That’s pretty amazing. Granted I don’t know much about the music business but it seems like a really unique and innovative idea to me! I love that everyone has an equal chance at “winning” – it’s not just about “who you know” and anyone could get their song on a project!

james April 30, 2010 at 9:59 am

What I like about Musikpitch is that it’s a great avenue for new songwriters to break into the music business. It provides budding songwriters an opportunity to gain some financial rewards but more importantly to showcase their talent and promote their original material to a wider audience. The prospects are very good as participation is garnered from a worldwide base and the appeal of music is universal. It would be interesting to see how the diverse cultural and social emotions of people from different backgrounds are conveyed in music and words with respect to achieving the ambitions of both songwriter and client. Overall, I think the Musikpitch site is well designed, easy to navigate and visually appealing. It provides everyone with an opportunity to exercise their creative instincts, be involved and have fun. Congratulations!

Tamara April 30, 2010 at 10:01 am

Whoa, iPad or not, that is a really cool website. I love that it can open doors for amateur songwriters …there’s a lot of really good ones out there, waiting for a big break. Great idea!

Erica April 30, 2010 at 10:05 am

What a great idea! Best of luck to your bro!! I love that you get to set the price! Makes it an option for ANY business.

Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday April 30, 2010 at 10:06 am

I totally want an iPad

Tracy April 30, 2010 at 10:06 am

I love how personalized Musikpitch is and I love the competition between the musicians! It’s a win win for customers and musicians!

Karley April 30, 2010 at 10:09 am

Ooohh, I want an iPad!

Donca April 30, 2010 at 10:09 am

I like the idea that any songwriter can get their big break through musikpitch. I don’t know much about the biz but I would think that you would have to know somebody that knows somebody to get a break but not so with this site. Def a great idea. Best of luck to him (and to me getting a new ipad:P )

Holly April 30, 2010 at 10:10 am

What a great idea for a website! The site looks very clean and user friendly. :) I would love to win an Ipad even though it would probably take forever for me to learn how to use it!

Mara @ What's For Dinner? April 30, 2010 at 10:10 am

I’m going to comment again just because i reallllly want this and LOVE supporting small businesses like this!

jvegegirl April 30, 2010 at 10:12 am

I like that musikpitch lets you have your own soundtrack!

runnergirl April 30, 2010 at 10:14 am

I just like supporting start-ups cuz I have one myself :)

jenny April 30, 2010 at 10:17 am

it looks like upcoming talent could use musikpitch to their advantage, which is ALWAYS awesome.

Margie April 30, 2010 at 10:17 am

What an ingenious idea!! I love that Musikpitch is helping both musicians and small businesses!
I’ll definitely spread the word.

Jess April 30, 2010 at 10:18 am

I am all about supporting new companies with new ideas. I also love the idea of bringing songwriting to the web!

Ella April 30, 2010 at 10:22 am

What a wonderful idea for a website to help up-and-coming people of all ages. I will tell lots of people about this and hope I am a winner.

VeggieGirl April 30, 2010 at 10:26 am

This is a fantastic idea – I love how it allows independent music writers and those who need music to congregate in one place and cuts out the middle man! Its like a music etsy. I hope it succeeds. I will pass along to my musician cousin.

sarah April 30, 2010 at 10:30 am

i love this – someone else said it perfectly, it’s like a “music etsy.” i love anything that helps independent artists and small businesses!

Heather April 30, 2010 at 10:39 am

Yeah, thanks for letting us enter without signing up for twitter. I’m sending a link to Musikpitch to my friend Jenn who has been trying to come up with music for her video.

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 30, 2010 at 10:41 am

Thanks Heather!

Kate April 30, 2010 at 10:49 am

I love how this opens up possibilities to musicians/songwriters who aren’t on a label or who don’t have an agent. It totally represents the power of the internet to bring people together. A guy in New York can get a job writing a song for a Nashville Taco restaurant. Awesome. I will definitely be sending this link on to a few musician friends I know.

Jennifer April 30, 2010 at 10:52 am

Wow – very cool. I will definitely pass this on to a friend of mine trying to get his music out there! On my end, as someone who simply enjoys music, the gifting idea is genious. Scott, I wish you lots of success!
The pics are too cute, Heather.

Whitney April 30, 2010 at 10:52 am

MusikPitch is a such unique idea! The music industry seems to be so inaccessible- like there are a lot of hoops to jump through to “make it.” This is a great way for songwriters (both aspiring and established) to find work! And also great for individuals and companies with unique needs to have direct access to these songwriters! Having an open forum like this will promote competition and new ideas, and likely the client will end up with the perfect song they are looking for! AWESOME IDEA

I love this giveaway….How Cool!

Emily April 30, 2010 at 10:59 am

I love how easy it looks for songwriters to get plugged into the industry! Great giveaway too :)

Heather April 30, 2010 at 11:00 am

Your brother is some kind of genius! I’m a lover of a lot of local and independent artists & bands, and I love the ideology behind MusikPitch since it seems so much more accessible to people who don’t want to “sell out” to get a deal with a larger record label. I wish him nothing but success!

Jess April 30, 2010 at 11:22 am

Very cool! and congrats to your brother!

Sarah Marie April 30, 2010 at 11:25 am

What a great idea on your brother’s part! My Dad is a business owner and is always looking for someone to write original music as background music for demo videos, etc. I will definitely point him toward this site… a great way to connect songwriters with individuals and companies needing original music!

hilary April 30, 2010 at 11:39 am

This is awesome! So many websites use music that is so generic, and this is a great opportunity to have something interesting to listen to while checking out new sites. The idea of using it for wedding videos and all of that is great too, but when thinking of advertising, so many songs come to mind.

Think of Adele, Postal Service, and so many more artists that have gotten exposure in the last year, just from Apple commercials. Spreading that opportunity for less known artists is great!

Kathryn Goel April 30, 2010 at 11:45 am

Great site! I love that it is open to anyone!

Michelle April 30, 2010 at 11:49 am

Wow, that is a cool idea Musikpitch seems to fill a void there wasnt there in the market, connecting musicians and songwriters!

Shannon Mulloy April 30, 2010 at 11:55 am

What an amazing concept! Aside from allowing people to hear music from people/places they might not have had had the opportunity to experience, it also seems like a great way to inspire musicians to write songs they may not have otherwise written. Everybody wins!

Annie Lawless April 30, 2010 at 11:59 am

OMG OMG! This is such a great idea! I looove the idea that the client gets to feel in control since the songwriters are competing for his/her approval. It also sets the bar higher for the songwriters to want to do their best work because they want to win. Also very neat is the variety and numerous options it leaves the client. Instead of hearing one style or just a few things, he/she will be able to hear a lot of different tracks from completely different people with different interpretations of their preferences. This is a good opportunity for the client to be presented with things he/she wasn’t even thinking of but may actually really enjoy. You really can’t go wrong–the client is sure to be happy because they will be presented with many options to select from and they will be high quality because the songwriters are competing to win and score the cash. Again, great idea. Really brilliant!

Jami April 30, 2010 at 12:06 pm

MusikPitch is such a great idea! I love that it gives songwriters a chance to make connections with those in the music industry, and at such a reasonable price. Love it!

mama April 30, 2010 at 12:08 pm

Sounds like an awesome idea! An ipad would be very cool!!

Ariel April 30, 2010 at 12:14 pm

What a great idea! I love the idea of a website that connects songwriters from all over the world with people looking for music, and I love how it gives new songwriters the opportunity to show their talent. It’s so exciting to imagine all the possibilities — imagine having an idea for a song that you want for a movie or a special event or just for fun and having artists all around the world vying to fulfill your wish! I might just have to enter some of the contests because this sounds like so much fun. It would be even more awesome if your brother eventually expands the site to include contests for graphic artists, too– that is definitely something I’d love to see.

I just had a goofy idea– Heather, you should hold a contest for a HEAB theme song!!! You could post the best entries on the blog and have us vote to help choose the winner. You’d be the first blogger to have her own song, and theme songs would become the newest fad in the blog world. :D

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 30, 2010 at 12:46 pm

Ariel, A HEAB theme song – ha, I love it!

There is a site similar to Musikpitch for graphic designers called 99 Designs:http://99designs.com/

Marilyn April 30, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Musikpitch is an example of the type of entrepreneurship we need to encourage and support. This is a great idea, and I predict success for this business.

Jenny April 30, 2010 at 12:19 pm

Oh holy cow, an Ipad?! That would be awesome.. even if the name does sound a bit… weird.

Scott April 30, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Ariel, I love that idea! Maybe if HEAB readers wanted to donate a few bucks to the HEAB blog to have a song created, I will match whatever is raised and we’ll run a song contest…? The readers could also pitch in to form the song brief on some topics or items the song should mention.

We could place the top three songs on the blog when the contest ends and allow the readers to pick the winner!

S. April 30, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Thanks for opening it up to commenters! I like that MusikPitch is free for songwriters and promotes creativity by way of contests. :)

Emily April 30, 2010 at 12:31 pm

I saw your brother speak at Podcamp Nashville and learned of MusikPitch (and your blog) during his session. Great to see them launch!

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 30, 2010 at 12:44 pm

Hey Emily, I had to work and missed Scott’s presentation at Podcamp Nashville. So glad you went. I watched his presentation online and was so proud of him! :)

Jason Nemecek April 30, 2010 at 12:36 pm

I like the simplicity of the site, that it’s easy to browse the contests quickly without being spammed by banners and screen-clutter. One or two clicks and you’re there.

jessie April 30, 2010 at 12:42 pm

I would LOVE an iPad!! Who wouldn’t??

ccarroll April 30, 2010 at 12:53 pm

i want!

Danielle April 30, 2010 at 12:54 pm

I’m a medical student who could definitely use an iPad….It would fit in my white coat pockets!

Valerie April 30, 2010 at 12:56 pm

I like that the site serves as a “musical middle man,” and could see it being very helpful to musicians that don’t have anyone to collaborate with. I really, really, REALLY hope I win!

Gina G April 30, 2010 at 12:58 pm

how exciting for your brother! im so happy for him! =)

Abbie April 30, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Thanks for allowing commentors to be a part of the contest. I watched the Musikpitch video and it really sounds like a great idea. I don’t doubt that your brother’s business will take off quickly. Best of luck to him!

Lindsey April 30, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Amazing giveaway, congrats to your brother!

Ariel April 30, 2010 at 1:29 pm

Scott, that would be so awesome!!! I know that we HEAB readers would have a lot of fun coming up with the song brief, and I’d love to hear what the songwriters come up with. I’m already hearing song phrases in my head, trying to find a rhyme for “kabocha”. Hehe! :D

Heather, thanks for telling me about 99 designs! I’m just trying to get started as an artist/ graphic designer and this looks like a great way to find projects.

Cait April 30, 2010 at 1:30 pm

Oooooh an ipad! So cool! (Also I love your blog)

Lisa April 30, 2010 at 1:35 pm

Wow, what an awesome giveaway, and good job to your brother for launching Musikpitch!

Rachel April 30, 2010 at 1:54 pm

That is such a great idea! I like the fact that talented, but unknown songwriters/musicians can earn money and gain recognition from companies around the world. There needs to be more sites like this that link businesess to untapped creative resources!

Graze With Me April 30, 2010 at 2:31 pm

Great giveaway and congrats to brother HEAB. I love the layout of the site, it’s not too overwhelming like some can be. My dad has been a drummer for most of his life (over 45 years) so I’ve seen how hard it is for songwriters/musicians to get recognition.

Runeatrepeat April 30, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Very cool that you’re brother is launching a company!!!

Christine April 30, 2010 at 2:46 pm

WOW! Sweet deal, and what your brother is doing sounds really awesome.

Stephen April 30, 2010 at 2:49 pm

I think any site that connects people looking for something and those with skills to meet that demand is a great tool. I like how it allows someone to advertise for songwriters via “contests”. Everyone loves contests!

Tyrah April 30, 2010 at 2:50 pm

Very cool! The thing I like the best is that it connects creatives from all over in the music world together. The possibilities could really be endless, what a cool idea. Good Luck to your brother!

Mag April 30, 2010 at 2:56 pm

wow, musikpitch sounds like a winner! best of luck to your brother in his venture!

Arielle April 30, 2010 at 4:03 pm

This sounds like an awesome site, I’ll check it out.

Nae April 30, 2010 at 4:38 pm

What a fantastic idea! I’m really curious to see what he does next with it all. Guess the creativity must be in the genes? :D

acountablelife April 30, 2010 at 4:50 pm

Just sent the musikpitch link to my songwriter friends. And the link to my business friends who are always intrigued by these kinds of pricing structures. I love that your brother has tapped into this “felt need” of both creators and consumers.

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 30, 2010 at 4:52 pm

Thanks acountablelife. Have a good weekend!

Julia April 30, 2010 at 4:52 pm

I would LOVE an Ipad! Hopehopehope! I’m poor….lol!

God luck to your brother on everything! :)

Anna April 30, 2010 at 5:06 pm

Great idea!Wish I could write, sing or at least whistle. This is a real chance for songwriters to break into business without selling their souls to the devil. Unless of course, your brother is the devil, in that case I would suggest that he should switch the pumpkin orange (love the colour) for some RED, you know corporate identity and stuff :-) Either way, congrats from Austria!

Heather Eats Almond Butter April 30, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Anna, I can’t whistle either!

Amanda April 30, 2010 at 5:13 pm

I would totally use this site to make a great song to advertise my tutoring company. I love it!

Rebecca @ How the Cookies Crumble April 30, 2010 at 5:20 pm

What a cool idea! I always wonder who comes up with such awesome websites like ebay – and look, you’re brother is one of them!

Taylor April 30, 2010 at 5:52 pm

I am literally a music FANATIC and am constantly trying to find new music. One of my favorite things is when I find a song that fits the way that I am feeling exactly. You know, like one of those, “I’m pretty sure the artist wrote this song about my life” kind of things. Between school and work I have not been able to find the time lately to find any new artists/songs. The coolest thing about musikpitch is that I can now just create a contest and basically have a team of people looking for music just for me! Pretty darn cool if you ask me!

Nicole T. April 30, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Very neat idea. I really like that a person buying would have many options to choose from.

Liz April 30, 2010 at 6:17 pm

Fantastic idea! Best of luck with the new endeavor!

Jodi April 30, 2010 at 6:27 pm

Wow…Musikpitch is an awesome idea!! I love finding songs with my children’s name in the title. With Musikpitch, I could actually have there own song created for them! So cool!

Kate April 30, 2010 at 6:44 pm

Congrats to your brother for starting this company! It looks very helpful for musicians to break into the business without having to worry so much about knowing someone who knows someone.

Angelina April 30, 2010 at 7:06 pm

What a cool and original idea! Sounds great for the musicians out there and for people looking for custom music. Also the pics of you two are cute!

Elana April 30, 2010 at 7:20 pm

A friend of mine at work just got his new ipad today.. it looked so fun!

And your brother’s site seems awesome, my favorite thing is that talented (and so often unknown!) songwriters can connect with people looking for specific things!

LisaM April 30, 2010 at 7:37 pm

I love that Musikpitch is a new way to share music with people! You can actually design a song for someone, which is totally unique!

Stephanie S. April 30, 2010 at 7:52 pm

What a cool website and concept! My favorite part about MusikPitch is how interactive it is– it’s a great way to connect projects and songwriters. I also like its accessibility– it’s a user-friendly site that seems like it can be utilized by a wide range of artists and projects. Awesome :)

healthnuttxo April 30, 2010 at 8:00 pm

so cool! I like how it gives opportunities to those songwriters/musicians to really get their stuff out there for the public!!
-Lisa

shayne April 30, 2010 at 8:01 pm

I remember you posting about this website before and i checked it out and thought it was a neat idea. this seems like a great opportunity for people who want to get some exposure!

Therese April 30, 2010 at 8:43 pm

I’m so glad you opened this to comments and not just Tweets! My husband is obsessed with the iPad. He’s in grad school right now and feeling pretty down b/c I’m the breadwinner right now. I’d love to surprise him with this awesome gift!

Therese April 30, 2010 at 8:46 pm

Oops forgot to say what I like about the site… I love that it’s interactive. Sites like that always get more people involved since technology is so widespread these days.

Ellen April 30, 2010 at 9:31 pm

i love independent musicians, so anyway to make them more successful is a great venture to me!

Kendall April 30, 2010 at 10:52 pm

Wow, Musikpitch sounds AWESOME! You can get a personally written song by an independent songwriter tailored to you, and pay what you can/will? Jeez, what a cool idea! Your brother has some great ideas!! And he likes mac products? What a winner!

lena May 1, 2010 at 12:43 am

Cool site. I love how interactive it is.

Heather May 1, 2010 at 4:23 am

Musikpitch looks like an awesome concept! Best of luck to your brother!!

Braxton Haynes May 1, 2010 at 4:51 am

Superexcited about Musikpitch!! I have lots of snippets of instrumental ideas that I’ve recorded and tucked away on a hard drive. The idea of doing something with them has seemed so daunting in the past, but this sounds like a great opportunity to try and craft the right one to match the needs of the customer.

Mel @ She Runs Brooklyn May 1, 2010 at 6:39 am

I love the idea of bringing the social network platform to music. It’s a great way to bring artists together and encourage indie growth! Pretty cool.

Lina May 1, 2010 at 7:23 am

I love that the website gives musicians a chance to get their music out there to be heard even if they don’t have an agent to be scouting their music around. It’s a neat idea and a great way to get heard.

Emma May 1, 2010 at 7:24 am

It’s awesome how musicians can get their stuff out there in the world – much needed!

Rachel May 1, 2010 at 8:20 am

Wow what an awesome giveaway!

I’ve played violin in an orchestra for twelve years and Musikpitch seems like such a fun idea. What a great way to bring artists together and find new talent.

Pauline May 1, 2010 at 8:33 am

That’s a seriously innovative idea! I think the coolest aspect has to be all the hidden talent being discovered and the connection to the songwriters that you want to hear from!

A.B. May 1, 2010 at 8:44 am

Wow! What an ingenious idea! I know some musicians that would really appreciate the platform for their creativity!

… and an iPad!!! How cool is that?!! :O

lz May 1, 2010 at 8:45 am

love how your brother’s passion for music is so evident in his site. it’s so easily navigable, which is good! thanks for hosting the generous giveaway!

Terese May 1, 2010 at 8:50 am

I love how easy the website is to navigate! And the fact that musicians can get their own exposure, rather than needing and agent or other behind them.

Great idea and good luck to your brother with it!

Nellie May 1, 2010 at 10:16 am

Awesome idea. My brother’s a budding musician and would definitely benefit from hooking up with this company. Like the previous commenter said, I like that musicians can get attention on their own. From the consumer’s end, this is totally a unique product, without the worry of cost!

Kim May 1, 2010 at 11:27 am

Love the website! What a great idea! I love the colors & how user friendly it is.

Kim

Caitlin May 1, 2010 at 11:49 am

So what is better than almond butter? An IPad, perhaps!?
:)

Lisa May 1, 2010 at 12:10 pm

I love how this site gives the ability to connect people who need creativity to those who are trying to spread it! It’s such a good idea and it allow for competition and having a choice of lots of possibilities!

PeonyJen May 1, 2010 at 12:15 pm

What a creative business. I envy those who are in-the-know and can realize a smart venture. The whole concept really benefits all parties involved. I love the fact that one can set their own budget; so really, getting a song is not unreachable.

Scott McIntosh May 1, 2010 at 3:01 pm

Thanks again for all the encouraging comments. We’ll be picking a winner shortly!
