Confession: I have been craving Dairy Queen Blizzards.
The last blizzard I ate was back in April 2005. I distinctly remember running the Country Music Half Marathon and then celebrating by getting my nose pierced and enjoying an Oreo Cheesecake Blizzard since the piercing studio was located directly above a DQ. It tasted so good, but I haven’t had one since. Fast forward to 2010…I WANT A BLIZZARD. So this morning, I decided to make my own, and in honor of Waffle Wednesday, I knew just what my mix-in candy of choice would be. 😉
First up, I whipped up a batch of vanilla protein ice-cream. Oh, protein ice-cream, I’d forgotten how good you are! Instead of the stevia packet, I added a drizzle of maple syrup, and after it was done blending, I stirred in 1 crumbled toasted Van’s apple cinnamon waffle.
I present to you my waffle blizzard served in a waning apple butter jar…
This was pretty darn tasty, and I loved the crunchy waffle chunks. However, the apple butter at the bottom of the jar was a bit too sweet for me. From now, I think I’ll stick to nut butter jars…that is if I ever eat nut butter again. Still don’t have a taste for it.
