Heather Eats Peanut Butter Again

by HEAB on June 1, 2010

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

Yesterday, I finished off our last pint of dairy-free ice-cream, and I’ve decided not to buy anymore for a while. Nothing against buying ice-cream, it’s just that I’ve spent way too much money on it lately. That stuff is NOT cheap! However, we do like to re-use the containers as dog toys. ;)

IMG_5097.JPG

I have a savory waffle recipe that I really want to try, but this morning, I woke up craving something sweet. Oatmeal or cereal didn’t sound good. Nope, I wanted ice-cream, but there was none to be found in our freezer. So, I made my own. Taking a cue from Katie, I blended 1 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk, 1 large banana, 2 TBSP crunchy peanut butter, and 1 packet of hot cocoa mix in the Vita-Mix. This was the first time I’ve used nut butter in over 3 months. I still don’t want any straight-up, but I knew it would taste good blended in the ice-cream. Then instead of freezing it overnight, I simply added 1/2 tsp guar gum, 1/4 tsp xanthan gum, and 17 ice cubes and then blended some more.

The recipe made a huge bowl of chocolate banana peanut butter soft serve, and it was quite filling and so delicious! Thanks for the inspiration Katie!

The next part of today’s post really has nothing to do with food, but I thought you might find it exciting. Melissa from The Cisco What If Your TV Could? Video Contest contacted me last week, and wanted to offer one lucky HEABer the chance to win this cool Flip Camera. All you have to do is leave me a comment below telling me if your TV could do anything, what would you like it to do? If you choose to do so, you can also film your answer and submit it here for a chance to win the grand prize of $10,000.

Here is my answer: Radley, our little baby girl pup pictured above, is scared to death of thunderstorms. When one hits, and neither CD and I are home, I feel so bad. So, if my TV could do anything, I would love for it to turn on loud before the first thunder clap occurs (it should know the storm is about to come because of the weather channel :) ), and then call Radley into the room. It would then spend the entire storm showing nothing but squirrels and bunnies running across the screen. Radley LOVES her squirrels and bunnies, and hopefully that would keep her mind off the weather.

So, what would you like your TV to do? Again, leave your answer in a comment below for a chance to win a Flip Camera provided by the kind folks at Cisco.

Hope everyone enjoys their short work week! :)

Serve me all of the delcious food from the Food Network!

Heather June 1, 2010 at 12:31 pm

I’m going to second Jessica @ How Sweet…i want to be able to reach in and grab food from FoodNetwork anytime :)

Mary (A Merry Life) June 1, 2010 at 12:32 pm

I would want my TV to be a portal… if I was watching something on the travel channel I’d want to be transported right there! Especially if it was a nice restaurant with yummy food. :)

carrie @ Gingerlemongirl.com June 1, 2010 at 12:33 pm

I would like my TV to have just the channels I loved and nothing else… right now PBS on our digital rabbit ears is about all we watch!! Thank goodness for netflix! lol!

Jess June 1, 2010 at 12:34 pm

record shows for me that it thinks I would like!

Julie Lynn June 1, 2010 at 12:35 pm

Hmm, if it could do *anything* – I would love for my TV to be a portal to the fabulous places I see on the travel channel…so I could just step in and be transported there. ;-)

Ozlem June 1, 2010 at 12:36 pm

hmmm yummy chunky apple sauce cinnamony from TJ’s mixed with plain greek yoghurt and topped with cinnamon puffins. You are a genius!!!

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 12:38 pm

Why thank you Ozlen. Glad you enjoyed. :)

stampylisa June 1, 2010 at 12:38 pm

totally taking the food thing too. I would like it to make me some yummy food. or Mary’s idea, of being a portal TO the yummy food and beautiful travel places. and organize me. I want it to be my personal home organizing slave.

Vanessa June 1, 2010 at 12:40 pm

I would love to be able to watch some of my favorite show any time I want ,the day they air. Not have to wait for a set time or record it and watch any time after.

homecookedem June 1, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Awwwwwwwww, HEAB!! What a sweet answer, love it!! If my TV could do anything I would want it to be interactive. Like I could hop in and go to tropical islands and eat all the yummy food from cooking shows!

Stefanie June 1, 2010 at 12:44 pm

I wish my tv had automatic volume control. This way the tv is not blasting load and I have to keep lowering it. Although, a meal making tv would be awesome too.

erintakescontrol June 1, 2010 at 12:44 pm

It would do the dishes. Or maybe the laundry. It’s a toss up!

vanillavivante June 1, 2010 at 12:45 pm

I wish my TV could transmit scent! It’s already got 2 of the senses (sight, sound) so what’s one more? :-) It would make watching the food network so much more fun . . .

Kim June 1, 2010 at 12:45 pm

Well, I have been saying this for years, but I wish my TV had smell-o-vision. I hate when the chefs on the Food Network say, “I wish you could smell this… it smells sooo good” because I DO want to smell it!!!!! It would also help me to decide if it was somethind that might appeal to me, before I went out and bought all the ingredients to make it myself!

Erica June 1, 2010 at 12:46 pm

That “ice cream” sounds awesome! What a tasty creation. Glad the nut butter is back in your life!! I am going to reuse my answer from Gina’s blog- I would want my tv to allow me to add my feedback in on American Idol ;)

Cara June 1, 2010 at 12:47 pm

I would like my TV to magically transport from our bedroom to living room when I don’t feel like moving it! (I often move it into the bedroom when I need help falling asleep if the fiance is out of town!)

allison June 1, 2010 at 12:48 pm

your ice cream looks soooo good!! if my tv could do anything, it would let me jump in to my favorite cooking shows! i always want to be a part of them, so here’s my shot!

missyrayn June 1, 2010 at 12:48 pm

I would love for my TV to tell me to stop watching repeats of random stuff and go read a book. I say I have no time to read but really I’m just watching re-runs of stuff on E! and A&E.

Beth S. June 1, 2010 at 12:48 pm

I want my tv to automatically turn to what I want to watch. And then after awhile I want it to tell me to read a book :-)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 12:49 pm

Beth, Haha – I loved your answer.

Jessie (Vegan-minded) June 1, 2010 at 12:48 pm

I would love to be able to reach through the screen and grab some food from Food Network!

eatmovelove June 1, 2010 at 12:49 pm

Glad your able to sneak in some PB there somehow!

Neat – …um, well, I’d like my TV to show whatever show I feel like watching at that time…but I guess that’s why they have TiVo’s now…but I don’t have one – so I think my answer still counts :) !?…oh and rewind when I miss something…which is often because I’m always multi-tasking…

jqlee June 1, 2010 at 12:49 pm

I want my TV to have smell-o-vision!

Heather June 1, 2010 at 12:50 pm

So, either A) I am using too much or B) I just don’t like gums, because I added about 1/4 tsp of xantham gum in my smoothie a few days ago and it just tasted WEIRD. Do you think the xantham and guar gums need each other to balance out?

As for the TV question, I wish my TV could tell me I’ve spent too much time watching trashy reality TV or Law & Order and to go be productive. :)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 12:53 pm

Heather, I’ve always used the gums together. Xanthan thickens and guar makes the ice-cream/smoothie more creamy. If you just have xanthan, I would recommend using less or add more liquid + ice.

Jackie June 1, 2010 at 12:52 pm

I’d want my TV to be portable as well. I would love to just hop in and be on the beaches of Hawaii!

Sima June 1, 2010 at 12:54 pm

If my TV could do anything…it’d wake me up in the morning with pictures/sounds of birds and blossoming flowers.

Chocolate-Covered Katie June 1, 2010 at 1:01 pm

LOL when I first saw your title, I thought you’d changed your blog name! I was scared!
Your hot chocolate ice cream sounds amazing; you have the best ideas!
Speaking of good ideas: I’ve always said I would like a computer where you can take what you want off the screen. So I’d like a tv where you could do that too :) .

Oh, and poor Henry shakes like a leaf and hides in the closet during storms :(

Allison June 1, 2010 at 1:03 pm

I would want my TV to play my favorite songs in correlation with my current mood.

Kat June 1, 2010 at 1:03 pm

If my TV could do anything … it would let me sample the food and reach in to slap the weather man whenever he gives me bad news!

alyssa June 1, 2010 at 1:03 pm

I would want my tv to know what i wanted to watch before i even changed the channel and do it for me (the solution to losing the remote control!) and of course, it better know that i was to smell and taste all the yummy food that it shows me!

Tiffany June 1, 2010 at 1:04 pm

it’s gotta be the food. i would love to be able to reach in and grab whatever’s cooking on the food network and then change the channel to watch grey’s/gossip girl/biggest loser/etc. :)

Sarah June 1, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Hmm, I’d love my tv to find random cooking shows/recipes, record them, categorize them by category, and then give me a little quiz to figure out what kind of food I’m in the mood for! Because sometimes I can’t decide what I want to eat so I’d want my tv to guide me through the process :) I’m lazy sometimes with the food…

Lori June 1, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I would want my tv to do housework. That would free up so much time for much more fun stuff.

Jessica June 1, 2010 at 1:10 pm

I would love for it to stop playing baseball games so I could have my husband back!

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 2:30 pm

Jessica, I’m with you on that one…I’m just counting down the days until the NBA playoffs are over! :)

maya938 June 1, 2010 at 1:10 pm

oooooh i wish my tv could keep my sampson dog calm during a storm too. he’s also terribly scared of thunder. i hate when he’s home alone and it’s storming. i also wish my tv could make me breakfast… or that ice cream you posted… or maybe instruct sampson dog how to prepare the meals and have them ready when i get home. really there are so many things that tv could be doing other than sitting there begging to swallow my time.

Ana June 1, 2010 at 1:13 pm

Ohhh, I love your answer for the TV to help your dog, best answer for sure!
If my TV could do something I wish it would be to tell my husband to turn that thing off and stop watching so many series…. really, he watches all the CSIs and a bunch of other nonsense, plus he spends most of the week watching sports, sitting in front of the TV. I wish the TV could tell him to turn itself off and go have fun with the family!
(Can you tell I am not a big TV person??)
On the other hand, if it could not shut it off then I wish it could play always new episodes of the cooking shows I like so I don’t have to miss the new ones and always watch the repeats!
Man, that is a cool camera, I so want one of those!
Ana

Kelly June 1, 2010 at 1:14 pm

I ordered a Vita-mix this weekend and I cannot wait for it to get here!! 12-16 business days, ugh I’m dying!

I basically wish my TV would make me delicious healthy food :)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 2:32 pm

Kelly, You will LOVE your new blender!

Meaghen June 1, 2010 at 1:14 pm

I wish my TV only showed my favourite programs!

Kelly Michelle June 1, 2010 at 1:15 pm

Right now I would just love for my TV to get some channels, I can’t afford it! But of course I would love to be able to hop through the TV to all those exotic locations or snatch yummy food/ cool clothes off of it!

thatrunnerchick June 1, 2010 at 1:16 pm

I wish my tv could allow me to hop into Top Chef episodes!!!

Heidi June 1, 2010 at 1:16 pm

I wish my tv would show me more of those loveable, 30-minute, family-friendly sitcoms like Full House, Who’s The Boss, Family Matters or Step by Step. I miss those shows, but thank goodness for syndication!

Brooke June 1, 2010 at 1:18 pm

My TV would deliver Justin Timberlake to me. *swoon*

Virginia June 1, 2010 at 1:18 pm

I would love for my T.V. automatically to adjust to changes in volume when commercials come on. Why are the commercials always so much louder than the program?

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 2:33 pm

Virginia, I don’t know – that drives me crazy as well!

Mandy June 1, 2010 at 1:22 pm

I would want my TV to teach me the physics and other content from my courses…then i could just watch it instead of reading boring textbooks :p

Ozlem June 1, 2010 at 1:23 pm

I am with Virginia above- adjustment on volume so I wotn have to fiddle through the stuff!!

Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday June 1, 2010 at 1:24 pm

I wish my TV would make me the host of a travel show!

elaine June 1, 2010 at 1:24 pm

what an awesome giveaway! I would love to have my TV be able to emit smell so that whenever I watch a movie that has beautiful gardens, I’d be able to smell the flowers!

Janna June 1, 2010 at 1:29 pm

If my TV could do anything, I would want it to always have my favorite movies and series on demand for free!!!

Dani June 1, 2010 at 1:30 pm

My TV would provide the answers to LOST.

Robyn jones Clark June 1, 2010 at 1:30 pm

I would want it to play “the office” 24 / 7 cause it always makes me laugh.

Katherine M. June 1, 2010 at 1:31 pm

I would love for my TV to let me taste the food on my favorite cooking shows! It’s such a tease to watch them and not get to try a bite!

Kathryn June 1, 2010 at 1:32 pm

I would love it if my TV could maintain the same volume ALL THE TIME. I know that commercials are generally louder than the program running but even the sound within the program itself can vary widely. Since I have a 2 year old in bed at night I hate having to keep changing the volume so I can hear people talking then get blown away by bursts of loud noise (gunfire, waves, car chases, etc)

alli June 1, 2010 at 1:33 pm

when i was a kid i always wished i could reach into the tv and pull out whatever was on it!(back then it was toys and junkfood, now it’s kitchen supplies, furniture, clothes, etc) :)

Brandy June 1, 2010 at 1:36 pm

I would want my TV to be able to talk to me about shows. We could debate things and talk about what’s on the TV.

Betsy June 1, 2010 at 1:39 pm

I would love for my TV to have a feed on the bottom, suggesting certain shows to watch based on the current show on, and I would be able to freely switch channels without commercials.

Tyrah June 1, 2010 at 1:44 pm

I would like my tv to guide us in exercises or lil bits of yoga during commercial breaks =)

Gina G June 1, 2010 at 1:45 pm

i would love to be able to transport my dad’s amazing pizza on the tv for advertisement! haha =)

Heather June 1, 2010 at 1:45 pm

I think it would be cool if my TV would recommend shows that I might like… some internet radio sites give recommendations based on my preferences so it would be cool to find new shows this way. “If you like ‘The Simpsons’, you might like …”!

jacob c June 1, 2010 at 1:48 pm

TV?
Oh the background noise maker…
I guess a movement sensor so it could do its job only when i’m around, i wouldn’t worry about turning it on and off. WHy do i have cable when i haven’t watched a show in i don’t remember when..
Ha

Janet June 1, 2010 at 1:50 pm

if my TV could do anything, I would to be able to customize the shows and make bad reality TV go away!

Evan Thomas June 1, 2010 at 1:51 pm

I would want my TV to have smell-o-vision

Kelsey @ CleanTeenKelseya June 1, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Oh man, your ice cream looks incredible!! I don’t have any xanthan/guar, but I wonder if I could achieve a similar result by using a frozen
banana.

Hmm, if I could have my TV do anything, I’d have it play whatever I want, whenever I want. No more waiting a week for the next episode or the season finale of a show. :)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 2:39 pm

Kelsey, Yes, frozen banana and then freeze overnight and reblend. That’s what Choc. Covered Katie did. Katie’s looked delicious! http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2008/06/14/i-scream-you-scream-we-all-scream/

Melanie @ I Dream of Tahini June 1, 2010 at 1:56 pm

banana and nutbutter smoothies are my favorite!!

If my TV could do anything for me, I’d probably ask that it make time stand still. I love mornings when I’m watching Good Morning America before I get out of bed. That quiet time is so relaxing, but short lived because time goes to fast and before I know it I’m dragging myself off to get ready for work.

Brett June 1, 2010 at 1:58 pm

I wish my TV would automatically turn off if I change channels more than 10 times within an hour since it means I probably should be doing something more worthwhile with my time.

Megan June 1, 2010 at 1:59 pm

I want my TV to transport me to wherever Samantha Brown is broadcasting from, so I could take over her job for a while.

Hallie June 1, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Yeah, I’m going to go with “let me eat the food on the Food Network” or “visit the places on the Travel Channel.”

Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) June 1, 2010 at 2:01 pm

I want my TV to remember my to do list and “suggest” things I need to do during the commercial breaks so I actually get stuff done instead of sitting in front of the TV all night! ;-)

LIberty June 1, 2010 at 2:02 pm

hmmm_ I’d like it to automatically filter all the insidious bad news out – and then I might get satellite servcie once again!

michelle June 1, 2010 at 2:02 pm

If my TV could do anything, what would you want it to do, it would give me all the goodies I see on commercials!!!!

amsterwill83 June 1, 2010 at 2:03 pm

If my TV could do anything… SMELL-evision!! :-)

Amanda (WannaBe Chef)
http://amsterwill83.wordpress.com

Hildur June 1, 2010 at 2:09 pm

I wish my TV would know instantly what I want to watch depending on my mood… a good film, trashy reality tv, something funny – and even tell me when I´m supposed to be doing something else. Commercial free of course. That would be awesome!!!

carolineatsea June 1, 2010 at 2:09 pm

I would love for my tv to serve me the food I see on the food network!

Melissa Cari June 1, 2010 at 2:09 pm

I’d want it to be voice activated so I never have to deal with a remote! The remotes these days are insane. It still takes me a few seconds to figure out how to change the channel.

Oh and I’d probably have it tell me to GO STUDY. Actually…it’d help if my laptop did that, too haha. On that note…flashcards, here I come!

Pure2raw twins June 1, 2010 at 2:10 pm

Your Katie inspired ice cream looks and sounds delicious!!

What I would like my tv to do, hmm, I would love my tv to turn on when I am feeling down or lonely and have reruns of my favorite shows on to cheer me up ; )

greenbean June 1, 2010 at 2:10 pm

i’d like for my TV to transport me to whatever i’m watching. i wanna play family feud or kick it in the tropics!

Claire June 1, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I would love my tv to clean my whole living room while watching it as I workout on the treadmill,it’s not only good entertainment;-), but great motivation:-)cc

caronae June 1, 2010 at 2:11 pm

So glad you got some pb in your life again, even if not straight up! Yes!!! I love your TV idea. If mine could do anything it would do all the data entry I have to do for one of my jobs for me!

Laura June 1, 2010 at 2:22 pm

I watch a lot of food network, so I wish I could control what they cook and give them healthy ingredient ideas. I also wish I could yell at them to stop using unhealthy ingredients.

No more cheese Rachel Ray, no more cheese!

Shannon June 1, 2010 at 2:30 pm

I don’t have a tv, but if I did I would want it to be a maid and wash all of our dishes :) .

Courtney June 1, 2010 at 2:31 pm

Hahaha, this is fun! If my tv could do anything, I would want it to have a built-in camera kind of like the one on my laptop (does this already exist and I just don’t know about it?). That way I could turn it on to record when I am doing yoga in the living room and play it back later to check out how I am doing on the poses. And I would turn it on when I was gone all day to record my puppy and see what he REALLY does while we are at work!!! :)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 2:36 pm

Courtney, CD and I always talk about how much it would be to have a puppy cam…although I don’t think CD would ever get any work done as he’s be watching the dogs all day! :)

Kelsey June 1, 2010 at 2:33 pm

hey peanut butter and almond butter are like brother and sister.. its all good hehe

Valerie June 1, 2010 at 2:33 pm

If my TV could do anything, I would want to taste all the food made on the Food Network! Well, amost all of it. Seems to be a popular answer!

Amy June 1, 2010 at 2:35 pm

One word, four syllables: Smell-O-Vision. :)

Lauren June 1, 2010 at 2:39 pm

I would like my TV to delivery Jude Law straight to my living room :) (Shh, don’t tell Husband haha!)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 2:43 pm

Lauren, Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. ;)

Sarah June 1, 2010 at 2:42 pm

It would be great if my tv did either 1) allow me to print off any recipe I am watching someone cook on tv (example watching Rachel Ray, push a button and there is the recipe for what she is cooking) or 2)allow me to sync my calendar to it so if I loose track of time while watching tv I will not miss any appointments becaue it would pop up on the screen in the middle of a show.

Tami Jo Eaton June 1, 2010 at 2:42 pm

I wish I could have a tv that tells me what to make and how to make it by using the ingredients I already have in my house. Each week I could tell it what I bought at the store. I love to cook, but never know what the family will like and I don’t have time to pre-plan because you never know what night you might have leftovers or that the husband ate a late lunch and isn’t hungry, etc.

Lauren June 1, 2010 at 2:53 pm

YAY for peanut butter!!
If my TV could do anything, I would want it to be like those cruise ship TVs that show you pictures of the front of the boat and tourists taking pictures. Except instead of pictures of the boat, I would want pictures from all over the world, from the top of a mountain to under the ocean!!! :)

Ashley S June 1, 2010 at 2:54 pm

If my tv could do anything, I’d have it warp into an atm machine and give me as much cash as i wanted ANY time i wanted it!

Lauren June 1, 2010 at 2:54 pm

YAY for peanut butter!!
If my TV could do anything, I would want it to be like those cruise ship TVs that show you live pictures of the front of the boat and tourists taking pictures. Except instead of pictures of the boat, I would want real live pictures from all over the world, from the top of a mountain to under the ocean!!! :)

Laura T June 1, 2010 at 2:57 pm

if my tv could do anything, i would have it grab me and put me in the audience of whatever show im watching (i.e. ellen, oprah, etc.)

Kayla B June 1, 2010 at 2:58 pm

I would love to have a tv that let me put products from commercials right through to test them out before buying!

Katharine June 1, 2010 at 3:00 pm

I would want my TV to let me smell all of the delicious things they’re making on food network!

Jessica June 1, 2010 at 3:09 pm

SMELLAVISION!!!!! Wouldn’t want to eat all the Food Network food, I’d gain a gigallion pounds, just smell it, mmmmmmm:)

Danielle (Runs on Green) June 1, 2010 at 3:09 pm

Non-dairy ice cream really *isn’t* cheap! But it’s oh so worth it ;)

If my tv could do anything, I’d be able to jump through it & join in on the action/celebrities/beaches

Carbzilla June 1, 2010 at 3:10 pm

I wish my tv would come with a free exercycle so that it wouldn’t turn on unless I got on the bike and pedalled my heart out!

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 3:13 pm

Carbzilla, That is brilliant – I need one of those. A Telecycle or Telemill. :)

Matt June 1, 2010 at 3:13 pm

I wish my tv would act as a portal for me to attend any live athletic event I am currently watching. Also, it cooking me up and serving dishes off the food network would be a bonus:)

Morgan June 1, 2010 at 3:16 pm

Smell-o-vision!

Thanks!

Jen June 1, 2010 at 3:16 pm

If my TV could do anything, it would appear out of thin air… I don’t own a TV. :-P Wouldn’t it be cool if an imaginary one just happened to materialize right this moment?!

Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) June 1, 2010 at 3:21 pm

HHHMMM well, I love to cook, so I could do that, but could my tv clean up after the mess I made? That would be super helpful!

You know, I have never used xanthan gum. I am kind of afraid of it, but your ice cream treats always intrigue me! Have a great afternoon!

Kristin June 1, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I would taste everything the food network has to offer! :D

xo
K

Brynne June 1, 2010 at 3:37 pm

I would want to reach into Food Network and take out their meals!

Amanda June 1, 2010 at 4:05 pm

If my television could do anything, I would like it to record shows I want to watch…I guess that’s a DVR, though.

Ellen June 1, 2010 at 4:05 pm

i wish i could sort through the TV channels by topic. we have a ridiculous number of channels at my house, but i can still never find what i want to watch!

trailmomma June 1, 2010 at 4:17 pm

I wish my tv was a time machine so that every time I viewed old videos of my baby girl I could magically be transported back to that moment. That way both her (and I) would be young forever!

MarathonVal June 1, 2010 at 4:18 pm

It would be awesome if two people could somehow watch the same thing at once… not split screen exactly, but maybe if they wore goggles or something and each person would watch something different at the same time.

That way, I could watch The Bachelorette while my husband watches the Stanly Cup game without having to be in two different rooms, like we did last night ;)

Ilana June 1, 2010 at 4:22 pm

I have been sitting here wondering how I can make really good vegan ice cream at home without a blender and then I came to this post and somehow it reminded me I actually have an ice cream maker. I am an idiot.

Anyway, I say this because I’m probably totally gonna steal your above recipe to make me some ice cream ASAP.

I’m just like most of the people who say they wish they could reach into the TV and take out the meals! I mean, seriously, I’ve dreamed about that possibility ever since I read Willy Wonka. I mean, in the book you can get a BAR OF CHOCOLATE with Wonkavision. HELL YES PLEASE. Of course, I don’t even have a tv so I guess I can’t really hope my tv does much of anything.

Lauren S. June 1, 2010 at 4:22 pm

If my TV could do anything it would allow me in. I could cook with the chefs of the Food Network and travel with the Travel Channel. It would be amazing!

Arielle June 1, 2010 at 4:25 pm

I want it to be a teleporter, so I can go anywhere at anytime.

randiliz June 1, 2010 at 4:29 pm

If my TV could do anything it would edit out all commercials without having to DVR shows and fast forward through them. Also have an on demand service for all episodes of my favorite shows available when ever I like. Especially the entire series of Arrested Development and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Zeus' Mom June 1, 2010 at 4:34 pm

I’m with the others who said they want their tv to do the dishes. It’s about time it started pulling its weight around the house!

That ice cream looks fantastic!

Kellie June 1, 2010 at 4:36 pm

I want it to be able to make my children pick up after themelves without me asking (or my husband f0r that matter :)

Jenny June 1, 2010 at 4:36 pm

Oh sweet Heather, your comment on my post this morning just reinforced why I admire and love you so much! To be completely honest, you are one of my biggest inspirations in terms of forging a more healthy relationship with my body and nourishing it properly, so thank you for being such a positive influence on my life!

I am ecstatic that you were feeling the PB love this morning!! Ice cream for breakfast is, indeed, the best thing since sliced bread.

So much love to you!

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 4:46 pm

Same to you Jenny. :)

Quix June 1, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Ok, so I am jumping on the bandwagon with people who want it to teleport me to the awesome places I see (for free). But in reality? I would just like a really solid, intuitive, and bug free DVR type functionality. One that never accidentally loses the recording of the show I want to see, one that never complains that I have too much recording at once, and one that I can watch shows in any room on any TV. Netflix/Hulu service built in would be supergreat too.

faith June 1, 2010 at 4:45 pm

in all honesty i would like to be able to turn my tv off and on…if i want it to just play a dvd or vhs (ah yeah, i still have one) i have to leave it on for at least 24hrs of pure fuzz before a picture will appear.

if i had a tv that would actually work, i would love to have a transport button where i could pop into a show that i was watching if i wanted to be there!!!

Alison June 1, 2010 at 4:52 pm

I’d love to have smell-o-vision!

Melis June 1, 2010 at 4:52 pm

I’d love for my TV to be a personal yoga instructor. Videos are fine, but I want something more interactive! :)

Kristine June 1, 2010 at 4:57 pm

I agree with the people saying they want to teleport through the TV. When I was little I even asked my mom how I could get into the TV. lol.

julie June 1, 2010 at 5:17 pm

if my tv could do anything it would read my mind and dvr everything it thinks i would like!

Ross J. June 1, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I’d love for my tv to go into 3d virtual mode where it surrounds me!

Lindsey @ Sound Eats June 1, 2010 at 5:23 pm

I don’t have cable, but didn’t there used to be/ is there still a travel station? If so – I’d love my tv to let me instantly be transported to all those exotic vacation locales. :)

Marissa June 1, 2010 at 5:26 pm

If my TV could do anything I would want it to Turn itself off 10 minutes after I fall asleep. I don’t want to set a timer, I want it to intuitively know when I have fallen asleep so it doesn’t wake me up later ;-)

Stortz June 1, 2010 at 5:32 pm

If my TV could do anything, it would censor anything and everything about Justin Bieber. Too much?

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 6:50 pm

Stortz, I just don’t get it either. What’s with his hair?

Hayley @ Breath of Fire June 1, 2010 at 5:34 pm

I would like my TV to massage me as I watched.

cookingincambridge June 1, 2010 at 5:34 pm

What if it could give me actual lessons? like somehow let me practice cooking, or surfing, or any of the fun how-to shows that it has…

AlaskaMorgan June 1, 2010 at 5:36 pm

My tv would serve me all the food presented on the show TOP CHEF!!
It would also allow me to jump into all the ALaska shows.. im currently living in NC and miss home tremendously!

Jocelyn C June 1, 2010 at 5:36 pm

If my TV could do anything…I’d want to be able to reach in and sample the recipes from Food Network! :D

A.B. June 1, 2010 at 5:39 pm

If my TV could do anything, I would want to be able to “work from home” — literally! I’d want to be able to physically interact with the people and objects at my office from the comfort of my house. How cool would that be? No more commute! YAY!

Erin June 1, 2010 at 5:56 pm

I wish my TV only worked off of human-generated power like a treadmill or stationary bike or something. That way, I’d either watch less TV or work out more. Either way, it’s a win!

Josie June 1, 2010 at 6:18 pm

i’d like my tv to read my mind and turn on/off and to the channel i want, when i want! :D

Shannon June 1, 2010 at 6:21 pm

When watching a food show, if I like what they’re making, I want my TV to spit out that dish for me to eat.

Also, you know how the commercials are sometimes way louder than the actual show? I want the TV to automatically adjust the volume for that. Those loud commercials drive me nuts!

famishedtofantastic June 1, 2010 at 6:28 pm

I would want my tv to allow me step inside when there is a commercial for a beach. It would be so nice to take a little tropical vacation by just stepping out of my living room into the tv.

Christopher Hill June 1, 2010 at 6:31 pm

Well, I know they do have some programs for learning..but I wish TV can have a feature that would have an interactive encyclopedia – so you can actually learn and become smarter rather than watching reality tv celebrity garbage. :-)

junecutie June 1, 2010 at 6:43 pm

I loved this post. I agree with all the above ideas, and I thought the ones about food were especially creative. In addition, I would like for my tv to make politicians be instantly accessible to me for questioning. I would say, “What do you mean you are going to do or not do something you said you were going to do when I voted for you? Well, buddy, you’ve got some serious ‘splainin’ to do!” It probably wouldn’t change things much, but I bet it would really cut down on tv time for politicians to make speeches and maybe stop a lot of the ‘spin’. Boy, am I dreaming today!

danielle WL June 1, 2010 at 6:48 pm

I want my TV to come on runs with me!

Kelly June 1, 2010 at 6:48 pm

Clearly I would have my tv clean my house if it could do anything!!!

Sara June 1, 2010 at 6:50 pm

Oh my gosh I am in love! I may never buy another carton of ice cream again! Thanks for the inspiration.

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Sara, You’re welcome. :)

gavrielski June 1, 2010 at 6:51 pm

I don’t even have a TV, but if I did I would want it to be my own personal version of “What not to wear” in my own closet. I would want it to give me fashion advice (“you’re wearing THAT to work?!”). I am not the snappiest dresser and I would love for my my would-be TV to really help me spruce things up! :)

L @ Whole Wheat Or Bust! June 1, 2010 at 6:54 pm

I wish TV’s had BS-alert systems that beeped when the advertisement was full of crappola!

blissfulbellas June 1, 2010 at 6:54 pm

i wish my tv has smellovision and tasteovision so i could smell and taste the amazing food on food network hehehe :D
-Lena

bitesandbliss June 1, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I wish TV’s would go beyond 3D and just shoot the actors into your house. I’d watch Iron Man and Pirates of the Caribbean all day long. Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp!!! yes, please :D

LesleyG June 1, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I think I am ready to make my own “soft serve” at home. I’ve been wanting to for, I don’t know, forever and there is really no reason to not at least try. Except I’ll go for the non-chocolate/cocoa variety. :)

Oh, and if my TV could do anything, I’d want it to make itself flat, about 200lbs. lighter, and come into the next century with the rest of us. :D

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 1, 2010 at 6:59 pm

Lesley, And here I thought CD and I were the only ones without a flat screen. Oh my gosh, our TV is so heavy and bulky…still works though. :)

bananasforbananas June 1, 2010 at 7:04 pm

I would def like smell-o-vision….no better yet taste-o-vision since I am obsessed with food/travel channel YUMMMMMMMMMMM! I would also like to basically just step into my tv and be where ever Anthony Bourdain happens to because a) I love him :) , b) hellooo who doesn’t want to travel the world’s most exotic locations?, c) more eating!!.

Emily Neal June 1, 2010 at 7:04 pm

I would like if my tv would be a central vaccuum and suck up all the dust/dirt/grime with the flick of a switch. I hate to dust.

Anisha June 1, 2010 at 7:06 pm

I’d want to be able to step inside my TV and be able to sing with the cast of Glee, goof around with The Office, and cook with the Food Network chefs!

Tara June 1, 2010 at 7:07 pm

If my TV could do anything, I would want it to double as my butler. It would sit down and let me watch TV when I needed it, but when I was doing something else it would clean the house :)

Matt June 1, 2010 at 7:10 pm

I wish my tv could transport me to any live athletic event I was watching at the time. That would be awesome! Getting food cooked and delivered through the tv would be pretty nice too!

Susan June 1, 2010 at 7:14 pm

I wish my TV could be a source of income. I would like my TV to make money for me so I don’t have to do it myself. I’m not sure how this would be possible, but I would make sure my TV tells people that I accept cash, credit or personal cheque ;)

Jodi June 1, 2010 at 7:17 pm

I would love if my TV could double as a coffee pot and turn itself on and make me a fresh pot of coffee every morning. Also, if it could straighten the house while I’m gone, that would be a bonus too!

laura June 1, 2010 at 7:18 pm

I wish my TV would let me jump right in so that I could experience first hand all the cool things that often go on in TV land. Go to the fabulous places on the Travel Channel, sample all the goodies on the Food Network, heck… jump right into the summer concerts going on in Rockefeller Center during the Today Show. I would love it!

Kathryn June 1, 2010 at 7:22 pm

I’d love it if I could join in on the shows (travel with the travel channel, eat with the food network)…that would be amazing :)

Maria June 1, 2010 at 7:22 pm

I’m very sensitive to noise and hate it when the tv is really loud– I wish that my tv could only be heard by the person who’s watching it, so that I can’t hear anything while he/she is watching it :)

Ella June 1, 2010 at 7:30 pm

If my TV could act as a guard while I’m away and call the police if the house is broken into that would be wonderful!

Clarice June 1, 2010 at 7:31 pm

I wish that my TV only showed the funny commercials like the Orbit “lint licker” commercial or heart warming commercials like the Google superbowl ad. This TV wouldn’t show any negative commercials, political adds, or poorly made local car ads with talking dogs.

Stacey June 1, 2010 at 7:33 pm

Hmm… if my TV could do anything, it would allow me to change channels with my MIND! My remote control is broken, I keep forgetting to buy a new one, and it’s so annoying to have to get up to change the channel!

Emily June 1, 2010 at 7:34 pm

I wish my TV would do my laundry for me! Like when you don’t want to get up to switch the washer stuff to the dryer. Or get up to fold the nicely dried clothes (like I am avoiding right now!).

Also, I love the name Radley, I have a family member with that name, she was named after Boo Radley in To Kill a Mocking Bird – is that where your inspiration came from?

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 2, 2010 at 7:54 am

Emily, yep, she’s our little Boo Radley. We named her in memory of another puppy we had that was hit by a car. His name was Scout – still miss him, but we’re so thankful to have Radley. It’s a great name. :)

sarah June 1, 2010 at 7:34 pm

I want my tv to be able to let me taste the yummy foods I see on it.

Emily June 1, 2010 at 7:38 pm

I’d love for my TV to be a time machine!

Mallory June 1, 2010 at 8:01 pm

well, i’d have to go Willy Wonka on this one and have my tv transport food… like some delicious giada recipe from food network or something :)

runningmind June 1, 2010 at 8:05 pm

I would want my tv to add 10lbs to every celebrity on it (and 20 or more to those that need them). I would make me feel much more “normal.”

yogiclarebear June 1, 2010 at 8:22 pm

what a nice giveaway/contest heab and cisco!

ok, being honest, i don’t watch tv. i hate it. i think most of the programs are gross and yucky. and the commercials are horrible. you watch a show or a movie, and then the commercials come on BLARING and you have to dive for the remote to turn it down. i just gave up! so if i watch tv ever again, i would like my tv to regulate commercial noise.

in the meantime, i would LOVE my tv to hook up to my computer so i could read the HEAB blog on the BIG SCREEN!! :)

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 2, 2010 at 7:52 am

Clare, Yeah HEAB in HD!!! I like it. :)

Lola June 1, 2010 at 8:30 pm

I don’t really like my t.v hahaha and i don’t wanta flip camera so i’m just dropping by to say, your ice cream looks SOOO good :)

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) June 1, 2010 at 8:40 pm

I would like my TV to get it’s real estate license and sell my house. I have shown my house 66 times since the 1st of the year. (it’s been a real parade of people thru here!) And dropped the price a huge, ridic sum. You dont even want to know how bad it is in this real estate market. Dear TV, please, please sell my house for me!

Heather Eats Almond Butter June 2, 2010 at 7:51 am

Averie, Been there – I feel your pain. Last year, our house was on the market for 8 months – tons of showings, and not one offer. They would call at last minute and keeping things clean with 2 hairy dogs was next to impossible, and then I had to get the dogs of out of the house whenever they called. Some days it would be raining, and I would just drive around aimlessly with both dogs in the back seat. I’m so sorry as I know the market in Phoenix is BAD. Sending you house selling vibes!!!

learningtocookeatandenjoydeliciousfood June 1, 2010 at 8:48 pm

If my TV could do anything, I would want it to be able to let me go up to the screen and enter the show if I felt I wanted to, so that I could change the outcome of the show if I didnt like how it was going. For example, on a show called Army Wives, one of the wives just had a miscarriage and I would want to be able to go in and make that NOT happen!! :)

AmyJoGo June 1, 2010 at 8:52 pm

It would teleport me to St Louis to visit a certain someone!! ;)

Ibu June 1, 2010 at 9:19 pm

It would let me talk to my family on demand who are far away….

Megan June 1, 2010 at 9:49 pm

Smell ‘o’ vision. I wish I could smell the delicious goodness that is going on in Food Network kitchens. I watch it so much that it would be nice to fill my house with home cooked meal smells when I don’t feel like cooking.

BroccoliHut June 1, 2010 at 10:33 pm

I wish my TV had smell-o-vision, so I could smell all the dishes being made on the Food Network:)

Gaby June 1, 2010 at 10:33 pm

I’ve had a variation of this “ice cream” for breakfast at least 4 or 5 times a week now for several weeks. I love being able to have chocolate ice cream as breakfast! Especially now that we’re reaching close to 100 degrees most days.
I love your answer for the tv question! So cute!
I can’t think of much, though I do wish I had HBO and could also tvo things. It would also be cool to be able to play music on it, or even skype with people and have it look like they’re in the room!

Nellie June 1, 2010 at 10:38 pm

I wish my TV would respond to voice command…especially for the volume!

Maren June 1, 2010 at 11:01 pm

If my TV could do anything I would want it to transport you to all the foreign places it shows on movies and such. Like a fax machine for humans.

Susan June 1, 2010 at 11:40 pm

I wish my TV could become a surrogate boyfriend mirror. If I asked it “do I look fat in these jeans” it would tell me the truth, only NICELY and say something like “I think you look MUCH better in the black jeans” or “You look SO much thinner than you did last week”. : )

Natalie @ cinnamonbums June 1, 2010 at 11:51 pm

i would want my TV to teleport me to the places on the Discovery/Travel channels!

Laura June 2, 2010 at 12:30 am

I was going to say smell but everyone already did! I guess I wish there was less of a barrier between what happens on tv and the watcher. Like you could participate in game shows or help solve the puzzle in a mystery movie!

ida June 2, 2010 at 1:05 am

I’d like my tv to fold laundry:)

Katie June 2, 2010 at 1:53 am

I want my tv to only show shows that I like. And even if there is a show that I like, but a bad episode, I want it to delete it. then, I never waste time with a program I don’t like.

paijery June 2, 2010 at 1:58 am

OMG that ice cream looks ahmaaaazing! Yay for the return of nut butta :)

Anne June 2, 2010 at 2:01 am

If my TV could do anything…..I’d be able to say out loud any show or movie I wanted to watch at that moment. It wouldn’t even matter if the show is old and not on air anymore!
It basically would allow me to re-watch all the old show from my childhood!

KAMI June 2, 2010 at 2:58 am

I’am a total “foodie” so my request would be- I wish my TV had more food channels and I could push a button and the food I select would slide out….all personal chef like :)
That would make me a happy girl! Infact when I read your blog, I always wish I could taste your creations! CD is a lucky guy!

bonnie June 2, 2010 at 6:03 am

It’d be awesome if I could taste and smell everything I see on the Food Network!

Barbara June 2, 2010 at 6:20 am

Smell-O-Vision!! I’ve always wanted it since I was a little kid and so believe every TV should have it!!

Julie June 2, 2010 at 7:08 am

I wish my TV had smell – o -vision! And I wish I could “forward” recorded programs on to my friends, kind of like forwarding an email. That way they could watch them with me!

Katherine June 2, 2010 at 7:17 am

I want my tv to beam all the cute dogs and cats on the tv directly into my living room – my pup wants so badly to play with the critters on the tv!

Katherine June 2, 2010 at 7:23 am

I would love if my TV would plan a healthy dinner for me based on the ingredients currently in my kitchen, and then walk me (or my boyfriend, for an extra special treat!!) through it step by step.

Sometimes after a long day, my brain is too fried to do any meal-planning and prep.

Kate June 2, 2010 at 7:49 am

I would use my tv to sample/eat some of the dishes that are prepared on tv to see if they are really worth cooking/ordering from restaurants!

jenna June 2, 2010 at 7:50 am

it would send me a personal celeb chef!

Michelle June 2, 2010 at 8:05 am

I wish my TV would allow me to partake in taste-testing all the wonderful foods, drinks and recipes I see on the cooking shows. :)
