Electrolux #splits: A Vegan Breakfast Banana Split

Foodbuzz, a sponsor of HEAB, helped Electrolux and Kelly Ripa raise money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) by sending two Foodbuzz Featured Publishers to New York and giving them an opportunity to make banana splits with their kids, and now they’ve asked all food bloggers to join in the cause.

To help spread the word and raise money for the OCRF, Foodbuzz is sponsoring a posting challenge for all their featured food bloggers to construct a post around a theme. The theme? The Ultimate Banana Split! For every banana split posted, Foodbuzz will donate $50 to the cause. Well Foodbuzz, I accept your challenge, and present you with my HEABified Vegan Breakfast Banana Split.

My banana split consisted of 1 banana, 3 small scoops of old fashioned oats prepared with dark cocoa powder, 3 small scoops of vanilla protein ice-cream, a drizzle of Maranatha’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Spread (Oops, just discovered this is not vegan – sorry!) macadamia nut whipped cream (raw macadamia nuts blended with water, vanilla, and maple syrup), and a frozen cherry on top. Nothing like a delicious breakfast for a good cause. :)

MMMM Heather, I Tried a banana split this morning and fell in love. I mixed stawberry jam into my oatmeal and forgot to put the stevia in my Protein Icecream (mistake I will rectify in the future). It was soooo good and I think my grandma was even a little jealous of my dessert for Breakfast:) Though I was disappointed that it worked so well in my blender, I was looking for another reason why we NEEDED to get a Vita Mix.

Penny, Love the idea of strawberry jam in your oatmeal, and that’s so funny about the blender. You could always try blending dried mangoes with no liquid…that little stunt managed to burn out the motor of my Vita-Mix, and so I’m sure it would do some damage to yours. Then you’d really have an excuse to order a Vita. Just don’t tell your family members it’s my fault. 😉

Yum, this looks great.

When I was little and we would go of for ice cream I would always order a banana split, because it was the biggest thing my parents would allow me to get. I didn’t even really like them, but I was such a greedy kid!

I have some macadamia nuts sitting around; I definitely want to try to recreate this whipped cream and make a banana split of my own. I LOVE your version of it! The thought of starting my day with “dessert” makes me absurdly happy. 😀

Hey,
that banana split sound delicious.
Do you have a recipe page for the macadamia nut whipped cream. i think that sounds intriguing but cannot fathom how it will becoem like whipped cream?
I also send an email to lindsey yesterday to enter the giveaway but got the mail back saying the domain didn’t exist? Maybe I tipped something wrong. This time I copied and pasted hopefully it will work this time around!

I love this breakfast! You’re so good at HEABifying things. Probably because you’re HEAB. :) I never would have thought of oatmeal over a a banana, and the macadamia nut whipped cream sounds wonderful. I would love to make my own, but I’m not a member of foodbuzz. I always thought my blog would not “count” since it is about lots of other things besides food. What do you think?
