The Battle of The Chocolate Peanut Butters

by HEAB on July 27, 2010

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

First off, I just realized that I’ve been publishing all my posts set to not allow pingbacks and trackbacks. Sorry about that, but I think the problem is fixed. So, if you linked to a HEAB post or recipe, and I didn’t respond, my apologies. I’m always honored when people link back to my blog, and I like to stop by and say thanks. :)

Secondly, my Maranatha Nut Butter Giveaway is over, and the 3 winners are as follows:

Many congrats to Gloriousgreens, The Delicateplace, and Laura B. Please email me with your addresses, and your coupons for a jar of free nut butter will be on their way!

As promised, I did a side-by-side taste test of Justin’s Chocolate Peanut Butter vs Peanut Butter & Co.’s Dark Chocolate Dreams. OK, so I did two…had to make sure. :) First up, I made two frozen chocolate peanut butter cups with each peanut butter.

I then tried half of each in a bowl of rolled oats with whipped cream and cinnamon.

Verdict: I thought I liked the taste of the Dark Chocolate Dreams better, but again, not quite sure. So, I tried both PB’s again at breakfast this morning.

Goat cheese omelet with toasted corn tortillas both smothered in chocolate peanut butter.

Justin’s gets major props for its spreadability factor, but honestly, I like Dark Chocolate Dreams more. Although both peanut butters contain the same number of sugars per serving, the DCD tastes sweeter and more chocolatey to me. Evan and Christina, you were both right: Justin’s definitely has more peanut flavor, but my sweet tooth preferred the sweeter Dark Chocolate Dreams.

Have you tried any chocolate nut butters yet? What is your favorite?
