Time to get down and dirty with some almond butter lovin’ here at Heather Eats Almond Butter! Are you ready?!?
Many thanks to Cory at Zesty Blog Consulting for all the time he spent helping me transfer my blog to a self-hosting site…and by helping, I mean he did all the work! There are still some kinks to work out, and I would love to hear your feedback. Is the blog loading fast enough? Also, with my old blog, I could respond to your comments via email, and I’m still trying to figure out how to get my replies to your inbox. However, I’m not sure if that is possible or not.
I’m planning on devoting more time to the blog, especially when we get home from our Babymoon. Some days, I might even publish two posts. How would you feel about that? I ask as I don’t want to overwhelm any readers. Also, once the HEABlet arrives in November, I plan to be a stay-at-home mom. As much as I love my career as a massage therapist, I won’t be able to work nearly as often. I’m hoping to see a few clients a month, maybe on Saturdays when CD is at home to watch the baby, but I no longer plan to work evenings. So, hopefully, I will get to spend more time with all of you.
So, here’s to an all new HEAB and the many adventures that await us both. Thanks again for your continued support…because of you, I consider my blog the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. Love you guys.

Personally, I wouldn’t need two posts a day. That seems like a lot of pressure to put on yourself. If I’m overlooking some behind-the-scenes blog success factors, then ignore me, but in the big picture I think one a day is fabulous!

I think it is very special that you are able to say that this is the most rewarding and valuable experience to you. Well, y’know, barring the baby and all that “realllly important stuff” LOL. I’m still waiting for your book anyways….;)!
I was also curious – since your one of the “big” bloggers – what your take is/was on bloggers with ads/promotions/shops on their sites?? I know Jenna (ELR) took a stance before saying she would not longer be doing it and her blog was going in a different direction (for her own personal decision). Or promoting products/ doing give-aways for companies…
Some people felt that was a “backlash” against blogs thad DO do that and/or went to the Summit and free swag, etc.
Interested in your thoughts on that

As for multiple posts per day, I like that if the content is good and you have a couple of things that you really want to post. Otherwise, I get a bit bored reading blogs multiple times a day if the blogger seems to be stretching for content.

New HEAB, no problem! And I *love* two posts a day–keep it coming! The anticipation is always so amazing as I go into the RSS feed…: “will she eat almond butter today? WILL SHE?”
Twice-daily posting would be happiness and joy! And I think the stay-at-home mom decision is great. I think it’s one of the best things you can do:). I like the new site; it is streamlined and it loaded fine for me. And still showed up on Google Reader, so you should be good there!

To be totally honest, most of the time I would say that I prefer just one post a day (or less) from bloggers since I get overwhelmed when my Reader gets really full, but you are one of the few exceptions.. 2 HEABs a day would be great by me!

I’ve been pondering the switch to a self hosted site for a while now…plus cory seems to know his shiz. i take it you have only the best things to say? do you use a mac or pc to post? do you use live writer? i really think i could be ready to ditch the wordpress format. im just afraid i wouldnt know how to even maintain a new site without some tech guru on speed dial at all hours of the day. thoughts?

My baby was born in November, too. Such a nice time of year for a baby, but then, when isn’t?
I am in the process of transitioning back to full time work because my husband is in danger of losing his job, and I need to make sure we have health care. It is breaking my heart, and I am often in tears lately. I’m missing so much time with my boy, and it may mean I have to quit blogging.
I’m so happy for you that you will be able to stay home….enjoy every second of it. Everyone tells you how fast it goes, and you think you know, but it’s faster than you could ever imagine. Love on that little Heablet every chance you get!

I love the new site-looks great. I actually am in the minority (it seems) but I really like one good post a day from the blogs I read. I feel like it allows people who cannot check blogs multiple times a day to feel like they are current, plus it allows more time for comments and conversations to start. Either way though, I will keep reading!
I love it! Honestly, I’m always a little wary when people say they’re updating their blog. I just don’t love change that much. But I think you’ve kept all the good things and totally modernized what looked outdated and now it looks great!
I’ve experimented with posting 2x a day, even 3x a day sometimes, and I still go back to once a day. I think if you have something great to share twice a day, that’s great and go for it. But I hated feeling that pressure to post when I had nothing to post about.
Your new blog is gorgeous!! Loaded fast and just fine. It’s crisp, clear, and beautiful, but I always thought your old site was one of the nicest sites out there, too. Non cluttered, crisp, clean, sharp…totally what I would love my site to be like…ahhh, if only I had the balls to jump into Wordpress. But I dont. LOL.
You, being a SAHM with a newborn and 2x a day blogging…I think that’s a great goal. I think if you are able to blog 1x/day with a newborn THAT’s a great goal. I think whatever you can do with the blog without stressing out, is fabulous

First off, that pic rocks! And I’m loving the site. It loaded just fine for me.
Also, I switched to writing 2 shorter posts a day recently and feel it makes things much more manageable. I usually have one thing/topic to share and go in and get it typed and done. When I did one a day I would have so much to say by the end of the day that it would take a lot of time organizing the post, wondering if it was too long, etc.
Lastly, staying at home is fabulous! That’s what I do and it helps me work on my blog, spend time with the wee one, and still do some other things on the side (like tutoring a couple hours a week). Very doable and a great balance I’ve experienced. I love all your thoughts!

Gorgeous pic – very Brigitte Bardot! The work will still be there when the Heablet is older:) It’s funny, after a few years at home with my kids, I returned to teaching only to find it just wasn’t for me anymore. I start massage therapy school in two weeks! Sometimes the time at home to parent is a good time to be at home with yourself & see how YOU would like to grow and change too.

And I’m right there with fartygirl, your exercise philosophy (with so many others) is really getting into my head, in an awesome way. I’m fitting in getting moving in ways I really enjoy or appreciate, instead of falling out of bed way too early to do the same routine that I ended up not caring about anymore. A nighttime walk on the treadmill with a great book was my favorite way to unwind this week.
