Mission Accomplished

by HEAB on August 30, 2010

Your mission, should you choose to accept it…

IMG_5841.JPG

Talk to the folks at the Fife Lake Dairy Bar into making you a flurry with Honey Rice Puffins.

IMG_5836.JPG

I accept.

IMG_5837.JPG

The Dairy Bar agreed to my request, and CD and I split a large Puffins flurry…it was delicious.

IMG_5839.JPG

Can we please have a bite?

IMG_5840.JPG

Okay. ;)

You’re hysterical. I love it. That takes balls(or puffins)

Dorry August 30, 2010 at 8:18 pm

We bought the Honey Rice Puffins today! Of course I had to sample immediately and I really like them. Nothing can compare to PB Puffins but these have a taste that slightly reminds me of a certain sugar cookie my grandmother used to make. Mmmm.

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 8:56 am

Dorry, that’s it, a sugar cookie! I was just saying to CD that the rice puffins reminded me of something I used to eat, and it’s sugar cookies made with almond extract. Good call!

Viviane August 30, 2010 at 8:18 pm

LOL you’re so funny! I’ve never seen those Honey Rice Puffins in Montreal, hopefully we’ll get them soon, they look delicious!

holly @ couchpotatoathlete August 30, 2010 at 8:21 pm

I love that they made it for you! This post is a riot — I love your dogs! :)

VeggieGirl August 30, 2010 at 8:21 pm

THAT’S IT!!!!! I’m coming to visit and I’m eating that.

Emily August 30, 2010 at 8:21 pm

When all else fails, ask for what you want, and have it your way:) Love it!

Sarah Jayne August 30, 2010 at 8:24 pm

Mmmmmm! As a former service industry “professional” I assure you that a honest smile & pleeeeeeaseeeee will get you anything your heart desires!!

LOVE the pup pics. Awwwwwwwwwww!

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 8:57 am

Sarah, Next summer we should meet up for a puppy play date! :)

Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthdayc August 30, 2010 at 8:27 pm

amber at berlinswhimsy August 30, 2010 at 8:28 pm

That looks soooo good! What cute pups, too!

BroccoliHut August 30, 2010 at 8:28 pm

You are my hero! I wish I had the guts to talk people into making me specialty flurries:)

Ana August 30, 2010 at 8:31 pm

Awesome!! Love you Heather!
I am just like that, I always try and am never afraid of asking!!
What a treat you got and maybe a new creation for the dairy bar: puffins flurry!
Ana

Kayla @ Let's Live Wholesome August 30, 2010 at 8:34 pm

If you never ask, you never know :-)

By the way, you look so sunny, freckly, and bronzed in your last photo…gorgeous!!

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 8:59 am

Kayla,
Yep, getting in lots of vitamin D these days. Thank you! :)

A Teenage Gourmet August 30, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I made a milkshake tonight. Milestone! :D
That’s really funny, about your Puffin treat. I’m sure the ice cream people had fun with your order.

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 8:59 am

Teenage Gourmet,
I think they had more fun laughing at my request – they were like, “what kind of cereal is this?” Hehe, I don’t think Puffins are a popular choice here in Fife Lake. ;)

Monique@She's Going The Distance August 30, 2010 at 8:56 pm

haha so awesome!! I’m going to start asking everyone to customize things for me now and see if it works :)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:00 am

Monique,
Do it – it never hurts to ask!

Annie August 30, 2010 at 9:00 pm

That picture of your pup is hysterical… my dogs go crazzzzy at the beggin strips “bacon bacon bacon” commercial.. I don’t care where they are i the house they go racing to the nearest TV… I just love the crazy funny things pups do.. hehe

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:01 am

Annie,
That’s hilarious. Dogs are so entertaining. Love my pups! :)

Ambersnotebook August 30, 2010 at 9:04 pm

omg that sounds good! How fun!

Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter August 30, 2010 at 9:22 pm

So cute. Those dogs are devouring it.

Carolyn August 30, 2010 at 9:24 pm

Einey and Radley look so related in that photo… and i would be imitating Radly for sure with the cup photo.. no pride… ;-)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:02 am

Carolyn,
If my face would have fit in the cup, I would have pulled a Radley too! ;)

Krystina August 30, 2010 at 9:25 pm

Haha, you’re adorable!

s August 30, 2010 at 9:35 pm

haha, that’s freaking awesome. asking never hurt, i s’pose.

Caitlin (EatFeats) August 30, 2010 at 9:46 pm

Oh wow I’m surprised they did that! I once saw a lady bring her own mix-ins to Coldstone, but the staff didn’t accommodate her request.

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:03 am

Caitlin,
Yeah, I think there are health regulations against that kind of thing, but it never hurts to ask. I bet I wouldn’t have had as much luck at a big ice-cream chain like Coldstone either.

Rachel (tea and chocolate) August 30, 2010 at 10:15 pm

That’s amazing! I wish I could get people to make individualized flurries for me. Mmm honey rice puffins. :)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:03 am

Rachel,
Try it – never hurts to ask! :)

Heather (Heather's Dish) August 30, 2010 at 10:46 pm

oh my gosh, my heart just melted when i saw the picture of your puppy! that’s so what my dogs would do :)

Katie August 30, 2010 at 11:25 pm

But how could they say no? ;)

Emily August 31, 2010 at 12:20 am

YAYYYYYY!

Luna August 31, 2010 at 3:18 am

eheheh, well I guess it’s difficult to say no to such a cute a mama-to-be! ;) The golden skin is so nice on you, hope the michigan sun will have the same effect on me ;)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:04 am

Luna,
Thanks so much, and I bet you get just as sun-kissed here in Michigan. The weather is just so nice, and I can’t stay inside!

Little Bookworm August 31, 2010 at 3:40 am

How nice of them to make it for you. It looks great! :)

Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) August 31, 2010 at 6:20 am

That’s awesome, they made it for you! I need to try those, they sound tasty! You are making me crave ice cream again. Now I have to go make some!

kelsey@snackingsquirrel.com August 31, 2010 at 6:40 am

YES!!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!!! <3 <3

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:05 am

Haha, Thanks Kelsey! :)

Kimberly August 31, 2010 at 7:16 am

That picture of your pup is too cute!! ;)

Christina August 31, 2010 at 7:27 am

AWESOME!!!!

Nicole August 31, 2010 at 7:28 am

The dogs are so funny!!
I’m imagining the conversation….”Umm, I hope you don’t think this is weird but….” lol

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:06 am

Nicole,
I made sure to mention that the cereal was “gluten-free”. So, I think they thought I was gluten intolerant…but I wasn’t about to make them think otherwise. ;)

melissa @ the delicate place August 31, 2010 at 7:31 am

adorable haha. you & the pups! they sound like a great dairy bar and seriously smart! i mean, how do you tell a pregnant lady no lol!?

eatmovelove August 31, 2010 at 7:48 am

So that last pic just made my day. Thank you.

Did you actually BRING the box of Puffins yourself? lol. Do they get “crushed” up into the ice cream – or is it just stirred in as the actual cereal bites?

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:07 am

Eatmovelove,
No, I just brought a Ziploc bag full of Puffins, and I’m not sure how they make the flurry, but it was so good. I think they just gently blend the mix-ins with a milkshake maker into the soft serve as there were large chunks of Puffins throughout the entire cup – perfect!

Kate August 31, 2010 at 7:50 am

Yum! I may have to mix some in with my next frozen banana “soft serve”! I loved the Peanut Butter Puffins too until I realized they were what was making me feel sick…they are WHEAT free, but not gluten free:(

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:08 am

Kate,
Yes, try the rice ones – gluten free and delicious in my opinion. I’d think they would go great in some banana soft-serve!

Kate August 31, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Oh I will!!!

Sylvia August 31, 2010 at 8:21 am

Your dogs look so adorable! They kind of remind me of my boyfriend when he’s doing the Cookie Monster impression on the last spoonful of froyo I managed to leave him in the carton ;)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:09 am

Sylvia,
You’re a good girlfriend…I never save the last bite for CD. Usually eat it myself! ;)

Sylvia August 31, 2010 at 9:42 am

Did I say spoonful? I really meant 1/4 of it. I can hear the boy complaining all the way from the kitchen, haha.

Andrea (@ Puppy Dog Tales) August 31, 2010 at 8:46 am

I so love that you took your box of puffins to the dairy bar. Why do I now want ice cream at 9:45am? Ha!

Nikki August 31, 2010 at 8:56 am

Ha! Awesome job with the flurry. The pic of your doggie face deep in the cup is priceless. :)

Sonia August 31, 2010 at 9:13 am

You are too funny! I bet that was fantastic! I did find puffins at Publix and my son and I were snacking on them all afternoon yesterday. Thanks for introducing us to a fantastic and yummy product!!! <3

Sonia August 31, 2010 at 9:18 am

Oh, also, I ate roasted okra for breakfast today and thought of you :-)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:22 am

Sonia,
Nothing like veggies for breakfast, although Puffins are good too. Glad you and your son are enjoying them! :)

Jennifer @keepitsimplefoods August 31, 2010 at 9:24 am

hilarious! i fully support made to order your way!

Alyssa August 31, 2010 at 9:36 am

Heather, how cute! Glad you were able to complete the mission. I once completed a similar mission, but it was to have Chick Fil A make my friend a cheesecake milkshake by throwing a piece of cheesecake into the vanilla ice cream. They did. It was glorious. And about 1500 calories :-)

I didn’t realize you had so many freckles! Super cute :-)

~Alyssa

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 9:47 am

Alyssa,
Haha – that is awesome. I love it, and I bet that was one amazing milkshake.j

Yes, the freckles – I used to get some every summer, but I read pregnancy can increase your freckles. It’s so true – they’re sprouting up everywhere in all this Michigan sunshine!

monicanelsonfitness August 31, 2010 at 10:24 am

I love it! When you want something, make it happen, right! Puffins should be everywhere, even Dairy Queen. I am in love with the Peanut Butter flavor.Your dogs are soooooo cute. BTW-your hair is serioulsy gorgeous, I love the long, flowy, beach look:)

HEAB August 31, 2010 at 11:00 am

Nicole,
Yes, PB Puffins should be in every ice-cream establishment that makes blended treats. Agreed! And thanks so much for the kind words regarding my hair – it’s a bit out of control these days, but I do love it long. :)

Susan August 31, 2010 at 12:08 pm

I love that you did this! Awesome!

Emily August 31, 2010 at 1:13 pm

Aww! This is why I read your blog – good information AND plain old fun! :)

janetha g. August 31, 2010 at 2:06 pm

i love your pups!

Lauren @ 40Apples August 31, 2010 at 2:34 pm

Yes!!! Yummmm. I wonder if I can pull the same thing with my local fro yo shop….. I’d bring Peanut Butter Puffins. Oh deliciousness!

HEAB September 1, 2010 at 6:59 am

Lauren,
It never hurts to ask. :)
