Baby Shower x 2

by HEAB on September 12, 2010

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

It’s been a weekend ‘o baby love…

On Saturday, I attended my best friend’s younger sister’s baby shower. Catherine, the mama-to-be, is due next month.

My best friend Carrie, Me, and Catherine.

Catherine, I remember when you were in diapers yourself! Can’t believe you’re about to have a little one of your own. I’m so happy for you!

Today was the HEABlet’s shower…

IMG_5958.JPG IMG_5955.JPG

The spread was amazing. My mom made all the cupcakes, both carrot cake and chocolate chip cream cheese flavored, and Alice, CD’s mom, provided the beautiful flower arrangements. Gerbera Daisies are my favorite. Thanks moms! :)

IMG_5966.JPG IMG_5962.JPG

We also had fresh veggie pizza, quinoa salad with avocado, Gena’s raw Mini Pizzettes, and Vanilla Sugar’s Reuben Dip. I sent the last two recipes to my mom when she asked me what kind of food I wanted at the shower, and they both turned out delicious. Again, thanks mom. You throw a fabulous party!

IMG_5964.JPG
Many thanks to my friends Cherie, Carrie, and Erin for hosting as well.
IMG_5967.JPG

I filled my plate with veggie pizza, quinoa salad, pimiento cheese, crab dip, and lots of reuben dip. Really, you must try Vanilla Sugar’s recipe. Amazing!

By the time the shower was over, I had completely OD’d on cheese and cupcakes, but it was totally worth every bite. The HEABlet received such amazing gifts – I don’t think we’ll have to buy her any clothes for about a year. Thanks again to everyone who showered me and the HEABlet with love today. We’re both extremely grateful to have each of you in our lives.

Don’t forget to enter my Naturally Nutty Giveaway. Winner will be announced sometime tomorrow. Goodnight…me and my very full baby bump are off to bed! :)

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) September 13, 2010 at 1:04 am

“I don’t think we’ll have to buy her any clothes for about a year.”–That’s what I told you ages ago..that ppl will ALWAYS buy you baby clothes, even when you say you really dont need any, they will buy them so yeah, I hear ya but it’s so nice to feel all this love I bet!

The food looks awesome & the fact that your mom asked you for recipes, and cooked things to perfection, now that’s just too sweet :) and she did a damn great job at it all!! The veggie pizza looks awesome and when I was a vegetarian not vegan I used to OD on pimento cheese dip about once a yr and then not eat it for yr and then do it again. Lol.

Oh and crab dip. Also adored it until 9 yrs ago when i almost died from an anaphalactic shellfish reaction that came outta no where. Kinda solidfied I was gonna be a veggie/vegan forever. I miss crab dip!

Have a great week and the love i can feel from these photos is wonderful :)

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 6:53 am

No worries Averie, I ate enough crab dip for both of us yesterday. ;)

Tabitha September 13, 2010 at 2:41 am

Oh it’s so lovely to share in this time of your life with you, I’ve always wanted children but my hubs didn’t, so it’s lifting my spirits to see you enjoy this time in your life with your family.

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 6:53 am

Thank you Tabitha – that’s very sweet of you to say. :)

Marina September 13, 2010 at 3:32 am

awwwww what great showers! The food at yours looks incredible- especially that veggie pizza. Hope you got lots of good stuff for the little one to be!

Annie@stronghealthyfit September 13, 2010 at 5:32 am

Looks like a fabulous shower (with great food!). So happy for you :-)

Maya September 13, 2010 at 6:05 am

At first I thought you said VANILLA reuben dip and I thought, hmmm, interesting flavor combination. Sounds like a lovely party, especially those raw pizzas!

Erika @ Food, Fitness, & Fun September 13, 2010 at 6:16 am

All the food at your baby shower looked delish! Especially that quinoa salad…recipe? ;-) BTW- Loved your sash!

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 6:55 am

Erika,
My friend Erin made it, and it was her first attempt at quinoa. She did a wonderful job. She simply added chopped avocado, sliced cherry tomatoes, and chopped red onion to cooked quinoa along with some balsamic vinaigrette. Delicious!

Carolyn September 13, 2010 at 6:22 am

Heather’s peeps love her!

…and i just love that they had all your exact favorite special things and foods…even down to the flowers..

Good healthy (kinda) food even looks more festive…

Yea! to your party hostesses…

Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) September 13, 2010 at 6:28 am

Aw, what a great weekend! You look incredible and glowing! I am so happy that you are doing so well. The food looks amazing So glad you had so many friends and family with you to celebrate the little one! I hope this is a great week for you! Oh and Gerbera Daisies are my favorite flower too! The orange ones just make me so happy and I am so not a flower person.

Marisa @ Loser for Life September 13, 2010 at 6:31 am

Thanks Marisa. :)

Meghan September 13, 2010 at 6:52 am

Happy baby shower! Sounds like you had a fun weekend, and it’s okay to OD on cupcakes at your shower–I did the same thing a few weeks ago at my bridal shower…I think its our obligation as the guest of honor.

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 6:56 am

Meghan,
Agreed. :)

Ana September 13, 2010 at 7:10 am

Sounds like you had a great week! A little fun, friends, family, good food, it is all we need right?!
About baby clothes, you will be impressed on sometimes how many onesis a baby can dirt in one day! Plus they grow up so fast, you will be even happier for all the bay clothes you are getting!
Ana

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 7:18 am

Ana,
I know – that’s what everyone tell me. I was thinking last night that the HEABlet will only get to wear many of these adorable little outfits a few times before she outgrows them. She’s already growing up too fast for me. ;)

charlotte September 13, 2010 at 7:58 am

Yay! Happy baby shower! Makes it feel more real, no? I hope you had a great time putting all those cute lil’ outfits and blankets and socks (oh the tiiinnnyyy socks!!) away in the nursery:)

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 2:57 pm

Charlotte,
Yeah right…our “nursery” is currently spread among 4 different rooms of our house right now. Um, I guess I need to work on that one, huh? ;)

eatmovelove September 13, 2010 at 8:23 am

Gosh, it’s getting close now isn’t it! You look absolutely beautiful as does everything else in the photos!

Holly @ couchpotatoathlete September 13, 2010 at 8:28 am

Gerbera daisies are my favorite too — they are so adorable and I love all the colors.

You look so beautiful Heather!

LesleyG September 13, 2010 at 8:35 am

What a baby weekend! It looks like such a great time, and so wonderful to be surrounded by all that love!

Felicia September 13, 2010 at 8:53 am

Looks like such a nice time! That food looks great :) And I realllly like that serving dish for the veggies and dip- where did you get it?!

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 2:56 pm

Felicia,
I’m not sure – it belongs to one of the hostesses. I’ll ask her and let you know.

HEAB September 15, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Felicia,
My friend got the veggie tray at a consignment store here in Nashville. Not sure where it originally came from but I bet you could find something similar at Crate and Barrel or even Target. :)

Felicia September 15, 2010 at 7:12 pm

Thank you for checking for me! Very sweet of you :) I will keep an eye open!

Alyssa September 13, 2010 at 8:53 am

So happy for you! Looks like a great shower!

Christin L. September 13, 2010 at 9:12 am

Gerbera daisies are also MY favorite! What a wonderful spread!

Sylvia September 13, 2010 at 9:13 am

Wow, that veggie pizza looks delicious – I’m about to go make me some just at the image of that, haha. I’m so happy that you had so much fun at your baby shower and you’re right about your little HEABlet not having to buy anymore baby clothes for the rest of the year after she’s born ;)

J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) September 13, 2010 at 9:21 am

You pregnant gals look stunning! I wouldn’t know which one of you was pregnant though, you guys carry and conceal the weight pretty well! LOL

The food looks delish! Love the variety. ODing on cheese and cupcakes is the only way to OD. ;)

What a fun weekend! Congrats!

Barbara September 13, 2010 at 11:39 am

Heather, I have to tell you that I don’t think you’ve ever looked more beautiful! I FINALLY understand what it means to be “radiant” or have “that glow”. You exude it! You have always been stunningly beautiful- and your insides, or who you are, just amplify that, but you actually GLOW. That picture of you with the 4 of your friends (right above the picture with your plate), is amazing!
You are such a lovely person, and I can’t wait for your beautiful baby girl to come into this world!
xoxo

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 2:54 pm

That is so sweet that your mom asked what kind of food you wanted to eat :) That’s really thoughtful. My sister is expecting and I cook healthy dishes for her too.

You are looking good Heather, you are filled with your pregnancy glow.

HEAB September 13, 2010 at 5:56 pm

Thanks so much Lea. Yeah, my mom put so much work into that shower – love her! :)

Denise Billings September 14, 2010 at 9:28 am

Heather,

Thanks so much for including me in the shower. It was great to see you and everyone else. I can’t believe you snagged one of your famous “plate full of food pictures” and I missed it!

I’d always been curious about quinoa but had never tried it. I LOVED that quinoa salad. It was so refreshing! Any way you could share the recipe?

Much love to you and the baby,
Denise

HEAB September 14, 2010 at 10:25 am

Denise,
Oh good – glad you found the recipe. That was Erin’s first attempt at quinoa, and I think she did a fabulous job!

It was so good to see you on Sunday, and thank you for the beautiful quilt. I love it, and I know the HEABlet will as well.
P.S. I’ve gotten sneaky when it comes to taking pictures of my plate. ;)

Denise Billings September 14, 2010 at 9:37 am

I should have read your other comments and responses. I found the (very easy!) recipe for the yummy quinoa salad.

jenny September 14, 2010 at 7:12 pm

those daisies are my absolute favourites too! i didnt even know they were called that :)

Cake Betch September 16, 2010 at 3:01 pm

So a few months ago I was reading your blog daily and then got out of the habit of blog reading, and now I’m back into it. And now you’re pregnant! I know you’re practically due so I feel pretty silly saying it now, but Congratulations!

HEAB September 16, 2010 at 4:04 pm

Cake Betch,
Glad you’re back and thank you. It’s never too late for congrats. :)
