Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!
I’ve been working on some paintings for the nursery today and wanted to share my little project with you guys. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on paintings or framed prints. Instead, simply go to Home Depot and look for this pink styrofoam in the building materials aisle…

It comes in one big sheet for about $12.00. I always find someone in the store to cut it into 4 panels for me so that I can fit it in my car.
Next, I pulled the plastic off that covers each side and cut out 4 big circles with an X-Acto knife. Then I painted them to match the crib quilt.

Crib bedding from Land of Nod

I used acrylic paints.

The finished products
To mount on wall, simply hammer a thin nail through the styrofoam. There you go, wall hangings, HEAB style.

The little heablet is going to have the BEST room
That is so ingenious and inexpensive. Amazing!
What a creative idea! I love it! You are such a good artist! What an inexpensive piece of art…that has your special touch!
Sweet jesus could you get any cuter?!
How adorable, and what a creative idea. My husband would be totally impressed if I started going to Home Depot for my crafting. And that quilt is too cute… off to check out Land of Nod… I may be in trouble!
Sarah R
Warning: STAY AWAY FROM LAND OF NOD…hehe, I did get in trouble.
Awe they look super cute! While Tony is an artist, I never ask for his work to be hung on our walls…he is way too critical of himself. I looks great Heather!
Too cute! That baby HEABlet will be stylin’ in her crib! HA!
Oh my word that is super cute! Very creative
You really great artistic skills, I especially love the elephant. When it times to transition from baby room to toddler and so forth, it will make it that much easier
Seriously awesome job!
Love it!! I love crafts and art projects.
Heather those are so adorable! The owl is by far my favorite
You should do a giveaway with those!
Uhhh, the owl’s eyes are crooked… give it to me instead
LOL, just kidding
They’re beautiful! <3
What a lovely DIY! Great job!
What a cute idea! I bet you’re having so much fun with all this.
Heather, I am.
Super cute! My only problem would be… I cannot draw a cirlcle, i cannot draw, let alone paint, and well.. i’m just not artistic! But you’re fantastic!!
Look at you, crafty girl!!! They look adorable, Heather! Little HEABlet is gonna love them
Ingenious! Wish I could do that in my rental, but I will give painting a go (I’m a horrible artist) as I set up the nursery after we move when our baby GIRL(!) is ~3 four months. (just found out the sex yesterday!)
Claire,
Congrats, and yay for baby girls. So exciting!!!
SO cute and so creative!! You are so talented!! I haven’t done a THING to our baby’s nursery… just supervising! haha!!
That is such a wonderful idea!! I’m sure your little HEABlet is going to adore it, especially when she’s old enough to appreciate her baby photos and her loving nursery.

An artist and a food blogger – a woman of many talents, you are!
Those are the sweetest decorations! And, though I like pink quite a bit, I love how the colors of heablet’s room won’t be pink, pink, pink ya know?
Maya,
Oh yes, I know. Some pink is okay, but I couldn’t handle rocking the HEABlet to sleep in a bottle of Pepto-Bismol.
How adorable!!
Fabulous idea!!you’re such a talent with food and crafts.I love the owl:-)cc
Adorable Heather! I love it!!!
SO. CUTE!!!!!!!

btw- i made that cake with pumpkin and almond flour, topped it with goats milk yogurt and honey. it is addictive!
Ellen,
And yes, that poundcake is highly addictive. I can’t wait to make it again!
Many congrats to your sister. You’re going to be an aunt – so exciting!
That is so adorable. I am very non-maternal (pregnancy, labor, passing on my genes AH), but all your fun baby stuff even makes me excited…so I can only imagine how thrilled you must be!
Thanks Caitlin! Yeah, we’re pretty excited.

Thanks Clare, I used to do crafty stuff all the time, and I miss it. I really should do more!
Oh my gosh, you creative momma you. Those are adorable!
How frickin cute are those?! I LOVE the owl! I think it shows that much more love for the little HEABlet when things are made by hand. Awww!
CLEVER! you are such a crafty mama. your little heablet will love to have something her mama made, too. much more special than something store bought
Cute, Heather– I knew you wouldn’t have a problem creating amazing decorations
This is all Martha Stewart and Home and Garden TV status!
Oh my gosh, those are adorable!!!
oh my god. those paintings are too cute to handle.
those are adorable!!
Such a creative idea, and the wall hangings look lovely!
Thank you for the comment on my blog. I had some of the chocolate almond butter this morning in my breakfast and it is lovely!
Love the wall hangings! So cute and so creative!
So, so cute! I absolutely love the animal theme.
So cute!!
Yet another talent. You are going to have so much fun with that little one in the kitchen and with arts and crafts! Love the “home-made” uniqueness of it.
You’re quite the artist, Heather! Those animals are too cute.
The wall hangings are adorable! What a great idea
I’m sure the Heablet will love them!
Adorable! Next time I get a hankering to order from Pottery Barn Kids, I’m coming to you Heather to re-create Heab-style. Love it!
Thanks Andrea…Pottery Barn Kids is a danger zone for me. Their stuff is so freakin’ adorable!
I love it Heather ! i think the baby blanket i gave you this summer even matches perfectly with the monkey:) i love the colors
Rayna,
It does! I washed the blanket this past weekend, and it is so soft. Can’t wait to wrap the HEABlet up in it.
Babies get the cutest bedroom décor. I would totally hang those in my bedroom!
That is sooooo adorable! I have ZERO creative ability when it comes to art. As a writer I can paint a million dollar picture but to actually try to draw/cut/paint that picture?? Umm no. I can barely draw a stick figure! SO stinkin cute. Love it!!
Ahh you’re so talented!!! I bet the finished nursery is going to be adorable.
Well done, Heather!! I love the idea of a personal addition to the nursery instead of all store-bought decor! Love the jungle theme, too.
Freakin adorable.
Ah this is adorable! Lovin’ it. Thanks for posting!
So awesome! You’re little one is going to be one lucky gal
what a good idea! can’t wait to see pics of the final room
you guys must be so excited and anxious!
Nice job with the painting Heather, really cute!! Heablet is already the luckiest baby girl!
Ana
totally awesome! you are very creative! (:
when will HEABlet be arriving? (: can’t wait to see your HEABlet! ((:
Thanks Lena! The HEABlet is due to arrive on November 18…we can’t wait to see her either.
That is a really cool and creative idea! Did you use any sort of a pattern or picture to trace the animals on the styrofoam or did you do it free-hand? If you did it free-hand, I am immensely jealous
Mine would have looked like a hot mess.
Thanks Sally! It was free-hand.
Very cute. You are so clever.
love love love!!! these are adorable!
OH MY!! I LOVE the owl one! Is it strange that I want one for my own bedroom, ha!
Kayla,
No, I don’t think so.
So cute! What a great idea. I love your creativity!
Thanks Rowie.
omg how adorable and creative as ever!!
i cant wait to see the room when its all done!!!!
Thanks Katie. Me either. Hoping to finish it up this weekend.
BRILLIANT! They are adorable and your painting skillz are enviable:)
