Nursery Wall Hangings

by HEAB on September 29, 2010

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

I’ve been working on some paintings for the nursery today and wanted to share my little project with you guys. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on paintings or framed prints. Instead, simply go to Home Depot and look for this pink styrofoam in the building materials aisle…

IMG_6084.JPG

It comes in one big sheet for about $12.00. I always find someone in the store to cut it into 4 panels for me so that I can fit it in my car.

Next, I pulled the plastic off that covers each side and cut out 4 big circles with an X-Acto knife. Then I painted them to match the crib quilt.

Crib bedding from Land of Nod

I used acrylic paints.

The finished products

To mount on wall, simply hammer a thin nail through the styrofoam. There you go, wall hangings, HEAB style. :)

How adorable, and what a creative idea. My husband would be totally impressed if I started going to Home Depot for my crafting. And that quilt is too cute… off to check out Land of Nod… I may be in trouble!

Awe they look super cute! While Tony is an artist, I never ask for his work to be hung on our walls…he is way too critical of himself. I looks great Heather!

Ingenious! Wish I could do that in my rental, but I will give painting a go (I’m a horrible artist) as I set up the nursery after we move when our baby GIRL(!) is ~3 four months. (just found out the sex yesterday!) :D

Reply

Maya,
Oh yes, I know. Some pink is okay, but I couldn’t handle rocking the HEABlet to sleep in a bottle of Pepto-Bismol. ;)

That is sooooo adorable! I have ZERO creative ability when it comes to art. As a writer I can paint a million dollar picture but to actually try to draw/cut/paint that picture?? Umm no. I can barely draw a stick figure! SO stinkin cute. Love it!!

That is a really cool and creative idea! Did you use any sort of a pattern or picture to trace the animals on the styrofoam or did you do it free-hand? If you did it free-hand, I am immensely jealous :) Mine would have looked like a hot mess.

Reply

HEAB September 30, 2010 at 1:43 pm
