Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!
Riss,
I do too. Love accessorizing her hair which is so surprising b/c I never did anything with mine. They make the cutest little bows and headbands for baby girls now. So fun.
My sister has two baby boys – and LOVES them, of course – but does lament not being able to get girly clothes and stuff…but she said she’s done with having any more! I don’t blame here – y’know little boys
Oh the pictures are adorable and yes, your life has just gotten really crazy! A baby is one thing. A baby that is MOBILE is an entirely different situation.
Have fun babyproofing this weekend I remember the scramble that it is once they can….move!
How is she crawling already How, seriously Wasn’t it like last week that you were telling us that you were pregnant. And wasn’t it five minutes ago that you gave birth? I feel like my life has moved unbelievably quickly this year, and Summer’s awesome progress is a reminder of that!
Oh my, I love those pictures Heather, so clever of you to take it on the blackboard, love, love, love it! Summer is the cutest and the idea is brilliant!
Did I ever tell you that Matheus never actually crawled? He scooted on his belly! He started scooting when he was around 6 1/2 months and that was it, he would go anywhere he wanted looking like a soldier in war, scooting on the belly. He would sit down fine, but never get on all fours and crawl. It was funny to see him scooting. Then when he was about 8 1/2 months old he started pulling himself up on furniture, by 9 1/2 he was walking around when holding onto things (chair, couch), and around 10 1/2 months he started to walk by himself.
Each child is so different. I remember we went to Brazil when Matheus was 9 months and as he would try to walk holding on the things my mom was amazed since she said I only walked after I was a year old.
I have a little video of Matheus scooting, I will find it and send it to you, I had a cute little scooting soldier!
Enjoy this phase, it is a blast to see them move and discover things, I loved when Matheus started scooting, I would see him in a place and then seconds later he was accros the room, they move pretty fast too. Life gets a little crazier but a ton more fun!
Ana
Ana,
Yes! Summer will get on all fours but can’t quite go any where, and so she just scoots backwards and sooo fast. Can’t leaver her anywhere now. We need a fenced-in living room. Would love to see the video if you can find it. Good to know you were able to travel well with a little scooter. We’ll be in Michigan soon, and I have a feeling Summer is going to change a lot while we’re gone. Many adventures await us up north I’m sure.
aaahh!! I was just thinking of the little cutie… I love that she is already stepping outside the boundaries of the “norm” – the world of forwards crawlers! xoxox
Haha! I love the photos! My son did the same backwards crawl for about a month or so before he finally started moving forward. Now he’s like a little freight train…full speed ahead!
Lucy crawls backwards too! So funny. She also does this swim move where she flails her arms and legs when on her belly…and gets pissed she can’t go anywhere like that!
My niece Jazzy started walking before crawling. But right before she started walking, she would scoot sideways all the time. not forward or backward, but sideways
Now, she runs so fast I’m scared to take her to the mall because I might lose her.
We started with backwards crawling and then moved on to log rolling and then eventually army crawling. She army crawled for months before moving to a traditional crawl. Babies are hilarious
Cutest pictures EVER!!! Just got back from vacay and how fun to see Summer scooting (backwards). None of my kids ever crawled “the right way” at first either.

Her jumper thing says “I <3 almond butter" right?
Maggie, yes. It was a gift from Janetha from Meals & Moves. So cute.

Backwards will get you there too! Max never crawled on all fours. He did an army crawl and it was the funniest thing…then he walked!

Just wait until she’s up on her feet and running around.
Nikki,
I know…kind of scared.
beautiful. she’s obviously learning early that there’s no need to fit in with the crowd by crawling forwards
smart girl you’ve got there!
She’s so cute, and you’re so creative! Love it!
How sweet! My little niece is just starting to crawl too. You will be busy chasing her everywhere!

I’ve read that crawling backward before crawling forward is a sign of genius!!

CH,
I feel the same way. I can’t believe 2011 is half over and that Summer is 8 months old. When did that happen?!?

Congrats on your little crawler– my sister never crawled, she rolled.
Think of all the calories you’ll burn by chasing that girl!
hahaha this is absolutely too cute.
So cute! How many tries did it take to get her to stay on the board?
Jess, we got it on the 2nd try.
I’m impressed
So cute! My little sister crawled backwards too!
How adorable is Summer?! Love you positioned this post too – you’re so crafty!

(I was a backwards-crawler, as were my kids. Kinda gives you a different perspective on the world, lol!)
Yay for Summer! Life is more interesting now
OMG @ those thighs! haha!
You’ll definitely stay busy, now! The day my daughter learned to crawl was also the day she decided she was ready to climb upstairs!
That little body going backwards and pony tail are the cutest thing!!!!!!Thanks for sharing, it brightened my day
Ah! I love this… how precious!!
Ahh! How exciting! Love the chalkboard!
I love it!! Hooray, Summer!
I also love her onesie/diaper look — little Julian has been sporting the same look all summer!
Too cute. It does not matter how you get there, as long as you get there.
So freaking cute!!!!!! Awwww
Lucy crawls backwards too! So funny. She also does this swim move where she flails her arms and legs when on her belly…and gets pissed she can’t go anywhere like that!
Oh boy, your life is about to get really interesting!!!!
that makes me smile. Evelyn can make 1/4 circle turn, but that’s about it. she likes tummy time so i am thankful for that!
So friggin’ cute! Let the chasing begin…
*Like*
She is sooooo cute. She obviously has a lot of personality too; just like her mother.
Happy Friday!

Oh my god thats the cutest thing I have seen in AGES!
She’s going to moonwalk next!!
I could smile and those chubby little thighs all day long. You have the most gorgeous baby I’ve ever seen Heather. Seriously.

Wow! You are so creative. My daughter scooched backwards for months, I was worried she’d never look ahead.
We started with backwards crawling and then moved on to log rolling and then eventually army crawling. She army crawled for months before moving to a traditional crawl. Babies are hilarious
I saw some of these on Facebook and thought they were so cute!!!! Just wait till she’s tumbling around on her two feet
Do babies usually start by crawling backward?
Susan,
Not for every baby, but according to the comments, I think it’s pretty common. She’ll be walking so soon…I can’t believe it.
Glad you’ve been able to get outside and get some fresh air. I know that must have felt amazing. I’ve been thinking about you so much.
That’s awesome! And if you read the post backward, she’s totally crawling forward.
That is so cute! She will get the hang of it soon
