A Chance To Work With Meghan Telpner

by HEAB on November 6, 2011

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

Thanks so much for all your kind birthday wishes for Summer. She had a blast at her party, and I can’t still can’t believe my little baby is now one! We’ve got some party decorations to put away (although I kind of just want to leave them up – they make me happy), lots of thank you notes to write, and plenty of leftover cupcakes to keep us fueled through it all. In the meantime, I wanted to share with all of you a chance to work with Meghan Telpner, a holistic nutritionist based in Toronto. I’ve been reading Meghan’s blog, Making Love In the Kitchen, for a few years now, and I love her whole foods approach to eating…I’m also really jealous of her custom built kitchen with a double oven, but that has nothing to do with anything really. Just thought I’d throw that out there…hey Santa. ;)

Meet Meghan…

MeghanTelpner_44.jpg

How cute is she?

From Meghan: Even when we know the right things to do – it is so easy to get derailed by the busyness of everyday. Suddenly that time when we can eat the best food possible, look and feel amazing becomes some foggy lensed vision of the way off magical time in the future when we have all the hours in the world. You know what I’m talking about, right? Well, I have put together the ultimate detox program. Now this is not one of those lame, cheesy fad detoxes that requires you to starve yourself while pumping your bod full of supplements and laxatives. No way. Not my style.

My team and I have put together a Food Detox called The Fab Uplift Detox Program, and I’m giving away a few spots in this program! This cleansing detox is about rebooting your system and getting a fresh start. It is designed to help identify and eliminate hidden food allergens, boost immunity, shed a little poundage but most importantly, support you in kicking those icky food habits and cravings that tend to derail us.

fabdetox.jpg

Participation in Meghan’s Detox is valued at $79, though if you register on Monday, November 7th, the cost is just $69 and you can live anywhere in the world to participate.

Included in the program is all of the following:

  • A full 16-Day Detox Program ebook which you can download immediately upon registration.
  • 4 day pre-cleanse coaching tips and recipes.
  • 8 Day Cleanse program including meal plan, shopping list and recipes.
  • 4-Day Post Cleanse guidelines.
  • Loads of info on why you should detox, what it means to detox, what this detox entails, and how to keep it going after the sixteen days have passed.
  • A daily email offering tips and support, progress, and bonus recipes.
  • Daily tweet coaching tips throughout the day (follow at #fabdetox)
  • Group TweetChat on Sunday, November 20th at 9:00pm EST
  • Live stream video chats with Meghan and her team (Scheduled for Friday November 18th and Friday, November 25th at 11:00am EST)
  • Email support throughout the main eight days of the detox with my resident nutritionists Alexa and Jill
  • Extra sweet incentive: At the end of the cleanse, send in a before + after on how you feel or a general testimonial and you will be entered to win some of our most fave detox goodies from some of our most fave detox loving brands.

You can get full deets on the program over on Meghan’s website.

For a chance to win a spot in The Fab Uplift Detox Program, simply leave a comment below telling me your favorite holiday tune. While food prepping for Summer’s birthday party, I whipped out my Christmas music, and I must say I’m a sucker for all of Amy Grant’s Christmas albums.  Comments will remain open through tomorrow night (Monday, November 7th) at midnight, EST.

Edited to Add: The Winner of the spot in Meghan’s program is Lorne. Congrats Lorne. Expect an email from me soon!

Hands down, it’s gotta be My Chemical Romance’s cover of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. It’s one of those tunes that, while a lot of ‘new’ Christmas music don’t do it for me’, INSTANTLY puts me in the mood for the season :) I even secretly listen to it throughout the year… haha <3

Amber Shea @Almost Vegan November 6, 2011 at 10:50 am

Oh gosh, I NEED to win this program! Months of recipe testing and retesting for my cookbook have left me bloated, run-down, and with several extra pounds. Yes, even raw food is unhealthy if eaten in excess!

Maren November 6, 2011 at 11:19 am

I can’t say I have a favorite, but Bing Crosby’s version of White Christmas is the first Christmas song I listen to every year.

Ana November 6, 2011 at 1:48 pm

I like Jingle Bells!! :-)
This sounds like an awesome opportunity, with all I am going on with motherhood, “wife-hood”, taking care of the house, son, husband + the masters degree I am in need of a major detox. My stomach is in knots lately and everything I eat seem to make me sick/hurt, it is awful. And I do eat healthy, I just don’t know if I am not making the right choices for my type of organism I guess. I don’t know, all I know is this sound great and something I truly wish I could be part of.
Ohh, and A Super Happy Birthday Wish for Summer!! I am sorry I didn’t get to comment on the previous post Heather, school is killing me this semester, I have been busy even on the weekends. But I know it is going to be worth it.
I am sure you all had a great time at her birthday party! Hard to believe she is already one, but that is the most wonderful thing there is, seeing your child grow is amazing, and I am sure you know how I feel about being a mom!
Hugs,
Ana

I love O Holy Night!

shani November 7, 2011 at 10:51 am

Being Jewish I don’t listen to much Christmas music but I was in band in high school and have a soft spot for jingle all the way- mostly because I can pick out all the instruments.

Nicole F. November 7, 2011 at 11:07 am

Josh Groban’s Christmas album is amazing. It’s our official baking music around the holidays : )

rachel November 7, 2011 at 11:31 am

What Child is This? especially if one of my daughters is playing it on the piano.:-)

Lori November 7, 2011 at 11:32 am

I love any music from the movie White Christmas which I watch every Thanksgiving weekend and I am my mothers child–years ago she had an album with Mario Lanza and it had this beautiful song called Guardian Angels around my bed–I love this one. I have Amy too and love her Christmas CD.

Heather S November 7, 2011 at 11:47 am

Silent Night is my all time favorite. My 8 year old still has me sing it to her at bedtime year round.

Marilu November 7, 2011 at 12:06 pm

I definitely enjoy listening to Baby It’s Cold Outside.

Megan S November 7, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Amy Grant is by far my favorite Christmas music too! I listened to her growing up and still pull out her tape (yes, tape!) and play it on my old boom box. Good thing I also have the CD’s now too. Grown Up Christmas List is my favorite!!

*Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer*

The holiday season can be stressful, my own grandma would sing this song, and it always makes me smile.

Lauren S November 7, 2011 at 12:27 pm

I love Christmas Wrapping by the waitresses, not the most traditional but I love hearing it every year.

Yvette November 7, 2011 at 1:40 pm

I love “what child is this”, but also love Casting Crowns Christmas album. :)

Jen@FoodFamilyFitness November 7, 2011 at 1:49 pm

I am loving the Taylor Swift versions of classic Christmas songs!!! Every one I have heard so far is a winner :)

Megan November 7, 2011 at 2:14 pm

My all-time favorite is O Holy Night. It makes me eyes water every time someone hits that high note at the end. Love!

Carly-Ann November 7, 2011 at 2:22 pm

My favourite Christmas song ever? Susie Snowflake. Remember that?!? :D

My favourite Christmas song that I sometimes get to hear? I’m a sucker for Last Christmas by Jimmy Eat World.

HEAB November 7, 2011 at 2:39 pm

Susie Snowflake? Nope, don’t remember that one, but will have to check it out. :)

Miava November 7, 2011 at 3:01 pm

While Halloween is my favorite holiday and “This is Halloween” is my favorite Halloween song; my favorite holiday tunes above all are those of the Charlie-Brown-Christmas-Vince-Guaraldi collection. Love it.

Lorne November 7, 2011 at 3:10 pm

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much Heather for posting about Meghan – she had Crohn’s!!! Now there is a girl who understands my journey. I was up to 1.30am this morning looking at her blog (hence the puffy eyes this morning). I just love people who dare to challenge the notions of ‘incurable’.

You made my day with this post Heather, thanks again….

HEAB November 7, 2011 at 3:34 pm

Lorne,
You’re so welcome. Can’t believe I haven’t told you about Meghan before. You should read her book about her journey to rid herself of her Crohn’s symptoms. I reviewed it here: http://heathereatsalmondbutter.com/2009/08/21/review-the-healthy-cookie-unbaked/

Tawny November 7, 2011 at 3:14 pm

I can’t help but love (and sing along to every time) “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”. Amy Grant’s Christmas album was always a selection during Christmas as a kid. And Nat King Cole. Love it all!

Shannon November 7, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Anything sung by my 4 year old daughter. I love when children sing!

Valerie November 7, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas (Is You)’!

And each Christmas Eve, when the kids are tucked in bed, my husband and I snuggle up on the couch together with some cookies and tea and watch our designated Christmas movie: ‘Love Actually’ – with my favorite performance of this song in it. :)

mcintosh November 7, 2011 at 4:38 pm

“Fall on Your Knees”…though I think it has a different name???

Emma November 7, 2011 at 4:55 pm

It’s so hard to choose, but one of my faves to wrap my presents to is ‘merry christmas baby’ – the otis redding version. Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses comes a close second!

Lisa Lowery November 7, 2011 at 5:28 pm

Anything off the Charlie Brown Christmas CD and/or whatever Christmas song my children are singing!

Melissa November 7, 2011 at 6:17 pm

Cool giveaway! Perfect timing too. Fav song… Little drummer boy by Bing Crosby.

elizabeth November 7, 2011 at 7:23 pm

Miranda (Untamed Kitchen) November 7, 2011 at 7:32 pm

I love “Oh Holy Night” and the Christmas song from “Love Actually”. I think it’s time for a detox…

ashtangamami November 7, 2011 at 7:55 pm

For me, it would have to be Dreidl, Dreidl, Dreidl!

Katherine November 7, 2011 at 8:16 pm

Okay, this is a contemporary pick:
Hope is Born Again — Jim Brickman with Point of Grace

This is the season when I pull out all my old vinyl and start playing records!

Lara fredericksen November 7, 2011 at 8:26 pm

My fav Christmas song is ” I ‘ll be home for Christmas ” . No matter how busy we are or how involved in our own lives, when Christmas comes around we all yearn to be with family. My only child started college this year and I am already feeling that yearning!
God bless you and your lovely family.

Nancy November 7, 2011 at 10:46 pm

Thanks so much for introducing me to Meghan!

My favorite Christmas Songs: All I want for Christmas is you, Blue Christmas and Silent Night :)
