WordPress Workshop Giveaway

by HEAB on September 23, 2012

Hello my almond butter loving friends. If you're new to HEAB, you may like to subscribe to my RSS feed or receive my posts via email. Thanks for reading!

Hey all, just wanted to let you know about Zesty’s Blog Consulting new WordPress Workshops.  Cory, aka Zesty, has been my go-to blog designer and technical gu-ru ever since I began blogging almost four years ago.  I’ve loved working with Cory as he is creative, reliable, and always quick to answer any of my questions…and trust me, I’ve had a lot of questions. The technical side of blogging has never been my thing, and I hope to take his workshop myself in the future.  However, for now, I’d like to offer all of you a chance to win access to Cory’s training program.

In the words of Cory, In just four, one-hour classes, you’ll master all the basics: how to build custom pages, links and posts, use plugins, update widgets, manage media, and much, much, more. You’ll also get homework and worksheets to make sure you really get it, and you get to ask me all your questions as you go, so you’ll never feel like you’re on your own.  Don’t worry if you’re not a “technical” person. I promise, no experience with computer graphics, coding, or web design is required.  At the completion of the course you will have the skills required to run your blog or website effectively — all by yourself.

Classes for the Beginner WordPress Workshop take place on the following Monday evenings at 8:00 PM EST: October 15, October 22, October 29, and November 5, and as long as you have wi-fi access, you can take them from any location.  Classes for the Advanced WordPress Workshop take place on the following Tuesday evenings at 8:00 PM EST: October 16, October 23, October 28, and November 6, again from any location equipped with wi-fi.

For a chance to win, simply leave a comment below telling me the last text message you sent (Mine was thanking a friend for her Happy Anniversary wishes to me and CD.  5 years yesterday!).  If you don’t win but are still interested in taking the classes, you can click here to register.  The cost of the workshop is $127.00, and all classes will be recorded and made accessible for a limited time to paid members only.

Happy WordPressing!

The giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to winner, Lora.  I hope you enjoy the workshop!

P.S. Love hearing about all of your text messages. :)

First, I just have to say how crazy it is that I stumble upon this post. A friend of mine texted me with a crisis: her mom bought a ton of baked goods from Costco, and she was having a serious craving for carrot cake after seeing the one her mom brought home and asked me if I knew of any healthy recipes for muffins to send her so she could quelm the beast. I told her I’d scour my go-to healthy food&living blogs and get back to her, and yours was one of the first sites I checked. The last text I sent was to this friend, saying “Right!!!! But it is!!!!” in response to her telling me one of the recipes I sent her to which she replied “omg it doesn’t eben look healthy! it looks devilish! I’m excited!!”

Fate? I think so! I’m trying to move from tumblr to my own blog, and I have an account on WordPress and got the ball rolling, but I am SO lost. I have no idea where to start or what to do, this workshop would be so amazing. Thanks for such an incredible giveaway!!!

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Joanne,
I’m honored to be one of your go-to healthy websites. Thank you and good luck with the blog move!

Carly September 23, 2012 at 2:53 pm

I haven’t had a phone for a couple of years … maybe more … yes definitely more. I have no idea what the last text message I sent was because I was pregnant and couldn’t remember a thing!!! I hope I still qualify, I NEED these workshops!

Tracy September 23, 2012 at 2:55 pm

Happy Anniversary, Heather & CD!!! Hope you had a lovely celebration.

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:17 pm

Thanks Tracy, we did. Hung out with all the kiddos and listened to live music. It was a good night. :)

Aubry September 23, 2012 at 3:09 pm

I would be so eternally grateful if I won so much I want to do with my blog to help!!!

To be honest the last text I sent was “oh”. Not exactly a winner lol:)

caroline September 23, 2012 at 3:44 pm

I would Love this chance! Thanks

My last text message was ” what kind of saw?” I was talking about a saw to saw open a cow head. haha not something you hear everyday! I am into organ meats (aka gutsy blog name) and some friend gave me a whole cow head..now I just have to figure out how to get it cut up into soup size bones!..it should be interesting :)

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:18 pm

Caroline,
Nope, haven’t ever discussed cow heads via text. Hope you figured it out.

Keri September 23, 2012 at 4:08 pm

My last text was to my dad, telling him “Brendan will call you in a minute” – because my fiance was going to help him fix his computer! I could definitely use this workshop; I run a few websites and definitely wish I knew what I was doing!

Marisa September 23, 2012 at 4:25 pm

Crazy that I just ran across this… I have been trying to build up the guts to start my own food blog and keep getting stuck at the nitty gritty parts of it- naming it, and setting up the physical blog. I blog for my college’s admissions office, but when I graduate in December, I will need a new spot! Financially, this isn’t something I would be able to do on my own, so I would love the free workshop!

On a sad note, the last text I sent was to a friend whose father just passed away. He is home with his family and I texted him “I’m glad your family can be together and support one another. Wish I could give you a hug because I really don’t know what to say.” It’s a hard situation but everyone will heal in time.

Thanks for your great recipes- your cowboy quinoa made an appearance in my apartment this weekend :)

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:19 pm

Marisa,
Oh, so sorry to hear about your friend’s dad, and I hope the family is doing okay.

Alana September 23, 2012 at 4:44 pm

I would be so thrilled to win this workshop. I generally think of myself as a tech-savvy individual, but Wordpress is just so overwhelming and confusing to me. Makes me feel old and not with the times (I’m only 29!).
The last text I sent was to my husband and said:
Eggs, almond butter, and Greek yogurt too please!

( additions to his Trader Joe’s shopping list for this afternoon)

trang September 23, 2012 at 4:48 pm

the last text message I sent was to say happy birthday to my cousin! I just started publicly blogging and this workshop would be a godsend!

Gianna September 23, 2012 at 4:54 pm

” Hillsong Church is at Gramercy theater E23rd and Lexington at 10/12/2/4/6/8 and 9:45. It’s going to be another epic Sunday and I’ll have a seat saved for you :) . Txt me when you’re here!”

Alicia September 23, 2012 at 5:19 pm

Talking to my sister about possible internships- “Awesome! Well probably it’s smaller or something like that or thats how its done up north but year let me know so I can email her”

I started a blog 4 days ago and would love to learn more about it. I love it so far and want to learn so much more!!

Michele September 23, 2012 at 5:25 pm

My last text was to my brother commenting on my walk today — said it was a little turtlish but that was fine since I haven’t walked recently.

Shauna September 23, 2012 at 5:36 pm

Hmmm….I have been seriously thinking about starting a blog and haven’t gotten much beyond deciding on WordPress if I do, so this would be great. Last text was celebrating my friend’s new ability to text now that she got a an iPhone, but reminding her that her old fashioned friend doesn’t have unlimited texting!

Kathi September 23, 2012 at 5:37 pm

My last text said “I love you!” to my husband! :)

Lyndsay September 23, 2012 at 7:23 pm

My last text was sent to my mom to tell her that my son has been crawling around all day today. We knew he could do it, but he’s been being lazy for the longest time so the fact that he has crawled more than two steps (crawls?) is amazing.

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:21 pm

Lyndsay,
Ahh, so exciting. I remember those days. We usually hand all of our baby clothes down to friends and relatives, but the “crawling” stage clothes went straight to the trash as the knees were all black! He’ll be walking before you know it. :)

Alison (AlisonCanRead) September 23, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Wow, this post/giveaway couldn’t come at a better time. I’m strongly thinking about switching my blog from blogger to wordpress.

As for my last text – I just moved from California to Montana a few weeks ago. I texted my friend this afternoon saying I missed her and that I’d call her later tonight.

Happy anniversary! My husband and I have been married 5 years too. No kids yet, unfortunately. We’re trying.

I sure hope I win!

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:22 pm

Thanks Alison, and happy five years to your and your husband as well. The babies will come – stay positive. :)

candice September 23, 2012 at 7:45 pm

My husband and I want to go “frolfing”.. so this was my text to my friend who just went. We are always trying new things! “Hey lyssa, when you played frisbee golf, did you just use regular frisbees or did you use the special disc for it?”

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:23 pm

Candice,
OK, had no idea what “frolfing” was at first, but I get it now. Sounds like fun.

Lauren September 23, 2012 at 7:52 pm

My text said “hahah so awesome” in response to the pic of my 18 mo nephew who put my brothers shoes on all by himself and walked in the room. :-)

Ali,
Um, can I come over too? ;)

Amy September 23, 2012 at 11:37 pm

Yvonne S September 24, 2012 at 2:12 am

The timing on this is so perfect– I’ve been thinking more and more about starting a blog, but have no idea how to start.

This is super embarrassing, but my last text was to my husband: said I missed him and wanted to see him naked! Sorry if this is crass, but at least you *must* know it’s true! Thank you for this giveaway, and hope you, your husband and the babies are all doing well. :)

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:27 pm

Yvonne,
Ha, I love it! :) And thank you, we are doing well. Same to your and your husband, but it sounds like you two are doing a-okay. ;)

My last text was telling my husband I was heading to the gym then the store before coming home tonight.

Ana September 25, 2012 at 7:17 am

My last text message was “Thanks for letting me know, have fun!”
To Matheus when he texted me from his ipod saying he got to his friend’s house. Can’t believe how techie things are nowadays, and more than that, can’t believe how independent my kiddo is already! He walks around the neighborhood to his friend’s houses and texts me when he gets there, and then I text him to come back home.
It is a love/hate relationship with technology, sometimes it takes away from us being together (people seem to like their iphones and ipods way too much), but there are times when I love it and am glad I am able to have access to all this, especially when my boy is a few blocks away :o )
Those workshops sound great, it would be very help to help a mama like me to learn more about it all and help me out with getting back to my blog!
Ana

HEAB September 26, 2012 at 8:33 pm

Ana,
Chris and I were just discussing this tonight. I LOVE my iPhone, but he has some old phone and doesn’t even have texting in his plan. I know it will be challenging to find a good balance when our kids start requesting phones of their own. Definitely a love/hate relationship with all things techie at our house too.

Nicole September 25, 2012 at 9:20 am

“Thanks for switching your plans, Wednesday would be perfect” Setting up a time to meet up with a friend I haven’t seen in a long time and who tends to be difficult to pin down.
