Hey Ashley, yes, the ABU is so good. Thanks for the reminder as I haven't made it in so long. I don't think Emily is no longer blogging, but her PBU was basically the ABU recipe made with peanut butter. :)

Lori,

I've used my wet blade to make almond butter. However, I usually use my food processor instead:

http://heathereatsalmondbutter.com/recipes/homemade-nut-butter/.

I find the whole process to be much easier in the food processor. However, if you don't have one, the Vita-Mix will work - you just need to make smaller batches. Also, I've found that raw almonds don't work in the Vita, unless you add a bit of oil. I always used coconut. If you want to make an unsalted version, I would rinse the salt and allow the almonds to air dry - or put them on a baking sheet out in the sun as I fear that if you roast them again, your almond butter might come out tasting burnt...trust me, I've been there. :)

Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any other questions.

I have a question. For the Almond butter (or any nut for that matter) made in the VitaMix, do you use the wet container or the dry container? I looked at the proce of almond butter in the store yesterday and at $6 a small jar, I decided to try making my own. I have a VitaMix (thanks mom and dad) and I have some raw and roasted\salted almonds. I thought about rinsing the salt off the roasted almonds and re-toasting them in the oven for a few min to dry them off (am I crazy? not sure...)just looking for an almond butter recipe to try and a detailed procedure to follow. Thanks!!!

P.S. I love that you eat roasted broccoli for breakfast – a girl after my own heart!
......
my son has been changing his eating habits (he is 21)
stopped drinking pop and has drank water for over 2 weeks, something he has never done in his life ! has lost 5 lbs so far, no exercise even

he often eats boiled Broc. for breakfast, with grilled salmon ;)
