Nuttzo Nut Butter Giveaway

When one of my readers (Hey Jen!) emailed me about Nuttzo, I knew I must try it, and company founder, Danielle, was kind enough to send me some samples. After adopting two boys from the Ukraine who were vitamin deficient, Danielle decided to create her own nutrient dense nut butter.  Nuttzo contains 7 organic nuts and seeds, providing the body with protein, minerals, and Omega-3 fatty acids. Good job Danielle. 🙂

How does it taste you ask?

Flaxy - just look at all those little seeds.

As soon as my Nuttzo samples arrived, I dolloped a big spoonful on top of a new grain (more about that in a later post).  Check out the nutrition info:nutritionThe taste is not sweet at all which I liked, and it definitely has a strong flax flavor.  Nuttzo contains both ground and whole flax seeds. The whole gives it more flavor and fiber, but grinding the flax seeds makes it easier for your body to absorb the omega 3s. According to the company, as long as the shell of the whole is chewed you do get omega 3s from that as well.

I’m guessing Nuttzo is made up mostly of peanuts and flax seeds based on the taste and the amount of ALA Omega-3’s it provides per serving.  Let’s just say I haven’t hit any huge almond or Brazil Nut chunks in my jar yet.  However, still yummy.

Many thanks to the Nuttzo folks for sending me not one, but two jars so that one lucky reader can try some as well.  All you need to do is leave a comment below telling me about your favorite nut.  I’ll leave the comments open until tomorrow night at midnight (Tuesday, September 22), and the random winner will be announced on Wednesday.

Meesha September 23, 2009 at 12:59 am

Hey, it was 11:58 here in Cali!!! 🙂 🙂

Meesha September 23, 2009 at 12:58 am

I am nutz about nuts! I love them all. Every nut butter, every nut! Love it!

Elizabeth - Cake or Death? September 23, 2009 at 12:09 am

My favorite nut is the hazelnut. I love anything hazelnut flavored, I love hazelnut with chocolate, and I love eating them roasted in my morning muesli. Yum! Too bad the only hazelnut spread I’ve found so far is Nutella…not quite healthy enough for daily eats.

hungryhoneybee September 22, 2009 at 10:16 pm

Hazelnuts, my favorite for sure!

Edith September 22, 2009 at 9:49 pm

just made it! I should check my reader more often.

Trisha September 22, 2009 at 9:22 pm

My favorite nut is almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia, cashews.amd pistachios. Hmmmm….that’s more than one, isn’t it? 🙂

marie September 22, 2009 at 8:38 pm

Cocoa roasted almonds are currently my fave nut, but cashews are a close second.

Sabrina September 22, 2009 at 8:33 pm

I wish I could say something other than peanuts…but I’d be lying. Peanut butter is the shit. Although walnut and almond butter come in close second.

christine September 22, 2009 at 8:30 pm

i love ALL nut butters… but it’s a tie between peanut and almond for my favorite.

carrie September 22, 2009 at 8:10 pm

wow, i am at the bottom of a LONG line of posts…anyway, HAZELNUTS! such a treat, sweet or savory. love them.

theskinnyplate September 22, 2009 at 7:58 pm

I love trying all kinds of nut butters. I think my favorite nut right now is pistachios. I wonder if there are any pistachio butters out on the market.

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 23, 2009 at 4:29 am

Skinny Plate, I’ve never seen a pistachio butter, but I made my own from salted pistachio kernals. It was green and way too salty. Next time, I’ll go no salt. Did love the color.

Adi ( September 22, 2009 at 7:16 pm

I love a good cashew!

Diane September 22, 2009 at 7:08 pm

My favorite nuts are almonds. Especially when they’re in almond butter!

kendall September 22, 2009 at 7:07 pm

i can’t get enough of my beloved cashews (especially in butter form!)

TamiJo September 22, 2009 at 6:42 pm

I love hazelnuts. I haven’t been able to create my own homemade nut butter yet. This one sounds wonderful!! I, like you, love nut butter on everything.

Michelle September 22, 2009 at 6:37 pm

I’m nuttzo for almonds…hahahaha

Liz September 22, 2009 at 6:05 pm

I love peanut butter, but if I have a nut plain, I LOVE pecans. They are so buttery and rich. Yum!

gwen September 22, 2009 at 5:59 pm

I’m an almond girl. Raw and cold straight from the freezer. Thanks Heab!

Tyrah September 22, 2009 at 4:43 pm

raw Almonds would have to be my favorite nut, because without them there would be no delicious almond butter 😉

Neha September 22, 2009 at 3:22 pm

definitely, definitely almonds. Delicious.

Kelly September 22, 2009 at 2:54 pm

It is so hard for me to choose a favorite nut. Mmm, I would have to say cashews~they have a slightly sweet taste and are so yummy! =)

Sarah (from See Sarah Eat) September 22, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Hope I’m not too late! I would love to win some nut butter, it’s my lifeblood, lol.

I think my favorite nuts are pecans. I find myself picking them out of the mixed nuts jar sometimes 😉

cyndie September 22, 2009 at 2:19 pm

mmm. I definitely go through phases with nuts…but my all-time favorite would have to be almonds. I used to live in europe as well, and LOVED getting warm chestnuts from street vendors during the winter/holidays 🙂

Katie D. September 22, 2009 at 2:14 pm

I recently discovered your blog and I’m loving reading it so far! This product looks amazing and I would love to try some. I love all nuts and flaxseed, but I would have to say my favorite are probably Brazil Nuts. Favorite nut butter is definitely almond butter though!

Andrea September 22, 2009 at 1:49 pm

I love all nut butters. how could you pick just one…which is what makes this product AWESOME!

Ashley September 22, 2009 at 1:20 pm

So hard to choose one favorite. I love almonds of course, but cashews are quite yummy and macadamia nuts are tasty – though seem less healthy. Mmm i do love nuts and nutbutter!

Kat September 22, 2009 at 1:09 pm

Looks yummy. My favorite nut is brazil nut!

Holly September 22, 2009 at 1:03 pm

loveeeeeee it…i need to try that! looks both heab and delicious approved!

deborah September 22, 2009 at 12:50 pm

hmm i would have to say its a tie between almonds–i love them. i carry a small bag around with me of them raw. i also enjoy the fact that you can make so many things with them–but straight up raw is how i eat them most. my other one would be chestnuts roasted so they are warm and mealy. we used to buy them at the christmas markets in vienna and they were oh so good!

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 22, 2009 at 12:54 pm

Deborah,The aroma of roasted chestnuts is one of my favorite memories from living in Europe.

Lanie D September 22, 2009 at 12:44 pm

Almonds! Okay…I have a love of pecans that is a little ridiculous as well.

Vegyogini September 22, 2009 at 12:24 pm

My favorite nut is the cashew. Cashews are diverse enough to blend up creamily into a vegan cheese and yet are still delicious out of hand (try them straight from the freezer…that’s the best). My mom used to make homemade cashew butter from scratch starting about 30 years ago when my brother was diagnosed with what was then an extremely rare and deathly peanut allergy WAY before the current influx we know today.

Thank you for the contest!

Angharad (Eating for England) September 22, 2009 at 11:24 am

My favorite nut is a little guy called Macademia. I can snack on macademias all day but I prefer to save them for Christmastime because they evoke memories of home for me! So.Flippin.Good.

Janet Tan September 22, 2009 at 11:11 am

This thing is unique!!! Never had this kinda of nut butter before!! I want me some!!!

Danielle September 22, 2009 at 10:55 am

I love Almonds!!! All nuts are unique in their own way, so I don’t like to discriminate too much! The nut butter looks delicious, but I like the story even better! 🙂

Julie September 22, 2009 at 10:27 am

Oh gosh, it’s a toss up between macadamia and cashews! But I guess I’ll go with cashews! MMM.

Diana (Soap & Chocolate) September 22, 2009 at 10:19 am

Holy WOW does that sound good. I am an equal-opportunity nut-lover, so this one sounds great. I love different nuts for different things: almonds in my butter, cashews in my “dairy”, macadamias just straight up, pecans in my pie…

And somehow I managed to make that sound dirty.

Pick me! Pick Me!

Jenny September 22, 2009 at 10:16 am

Just found your blog and I’m really enjoying looking around and reading.
Favorite Nut….would have to be cashew…but I rarely can turn down any type I’m offered. My son has a severe nut allergy (it is JUST WRONG!) and my husband and I have to eat them in hiding 🙂 A spoonful of Nuttzo would be an amazing secret treat!

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 22, 2009 at 10:22 am

Jenny,So glad you found me and thanks for reading. One of my nightmares is that I will have a child with a nut allergy. I would totally have to hide in the closet for my almond butter fix. So, please know you’re not alone. 🙂 Love, Heather

pastorleanne September 22, 2009 at 10:11 am

Definitely almonds…cashews and walnuts are up there, too – but almonds are so versatile and taste great with just about everything. I throw them on my salads, in oatmeal, bake them in granola…eat them plain as snacks…which reminds me, I’m almost out of them!!!

Lindsey September 22, 2009 at 10:00 am

My favorite would definitely have to be almonds, plain…but if we’re talking salted and everything, cashews. And brazil nuts. And um. All of the above, please? =)

earthybrit September 22, 2009 at 9:55 am

My fav nut. hmmmmm peanuts or almounds it’s really hard to choose..

Heatherkind September 22, 2009 at 9:44 am

Hey There Heather! My favorite nut is cashews for sure! Bazil nuts come in second though 😉

Love the blog, keep it up!

Stacie September 22, 2009 at 9:37 am

Ooh that’s so hard! I love macadamia nuts the best for plain nuts but hazelnuts the best in chocolate. Mmmmmmm.

jvegegirl September 22, 2009 at 9:37 am

favorite nut? coconut! I kid, I kid. Almonds would have to be it!

Emma September 22, 2009 at 9:22 am

oooh interesting looking nut butter- why don’t we get all these fancy ones over here in the UK?
Mmmm tough call on the fave nut, would proabably have to say:
– Cashews for snacking
– Almonds in oats or in a trail mix with raisins etc.
– Pecans in granola with maple and dates
– Hazelnuts in chocolatey stuff …….
– Oh don’t forget walnuts in muffins and on salads!

Megan September 22, 2009 at 9:20 am

My favaorite nut by far is the cashew. OH so yummy. Perhaps I will snack on some right now 🙂

Amisha September 22, 2009 at 9:15 am

Still and always will be walnuts!

Liz September 22, 2009 at 9:15 am

Wow. That nuttzo looks yum!

Kimberly September 22, 2009 at 9:10 am

My favorite nut is the almond or cashew. 🙂 I would love to try this nut butter!

Wonder how it would taste in the Marinutta sauce???? 😉

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 22, 2009 at 9:19 am

Kimberly,I think the Nuttzo would be perfect in Marinutta sauce!

Gaby September 22, 2009 at 8:57 am

OH wow, this looks amazing! Hm, I’m a little nutty for nuts hehe but I love raw macadamias, however, since those are really expensive, i eat a ton of almonds.
Can’t wait for the creamer review and I hope they bring it to Houston soon!

Happy anniversary! You are gorgeous and you and CD look so happy and I’m very happy for you! Have a great day!

Holly September 22, 2009 at 8:56 am

Gosh, that is hard…I love all nuts (TWSS). 🙂

But – almonds take the cake!!! They are the best. I love ’em raw.

Hope September 22, 2009 at 8:48 am

I would have to go with brazil nuts, when eating alone… but for nut butter I’d have to say slmond or cashew! But hazelnut is pretty deluxe as well….

veggiebooty September 22, 2009 at 8:30 am

I was MIA from the blog-world yesterday, and, while I haven’t actually had a chance to read through all 254 responses, I would guess that every nut known to humans has already been covered. I would say that almonds are probably my favorite, simply do to a never-ending love for almond butter, but I’ve also always held a sweet spot for hazelnuts. Yum!

findingtrueserenity September 22, 2009 at 8:12 am

Hi Heather!!!

I think this is my first comment on your site since discovering your entertaining blog! LoVe It!!!

If I had to pick just one nut it would have to be cashews…they are so versatile…yummy roasted, and even more yummy raw!!! They work amazingly well with cooked and raw recipes…my favorite one being raw cheese sauce since my daughter has dairy allergies! ew la la, don’t get me started on food!!! 😉

Ami September 22, 2009 at 7:51 am

My favourite nut? You mean I have to pick just ONE? I love and devour them all (ok, maybe not something I should be so proud of). Actually that’s not true, I could do without chestnuts, hazelnuts and macadamia nuts. I am known for my love of nuts! But if for some reason, nuts were scarce and I could only have one type of nut… it would be my one and only true love…ALMONDS! French fries, pizza, chocolate, ice cream- they don’t stand a chance next to almonds, almond butter, almond meal, slivered almonds, etc. Coat them in chocolate and I’m yours forever.

melruns September 22, 2009 at 7:42 am

my favorite nut is roasted almonds!! 🙂

Becca R. September 22, 2009 at 7:40 am

I must say my favorite nut butter is the classic, peanut butter

CaSaundra September 22, 2009 at 7:07 am

My favorite nut would have to be a peanut–more specifically, a honey roasted peanut :o)

Heather September 22, 2009 at 6:39 am

I have to say that I’m a big fan of all nuts, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be almonds. They’re so versatile. You can eat them raw, roasted, sliced in a salad, in a dessert, and of course my favorite almond butter.

Gloria Michielli September 22, 2009 at 6:19 am

I’m a fan of kinds of all nuts! What I have in my cupboard at the momemt are walnuts :)Once i’m finished with those, I might go with cashews mmm

Mallory September 22, 2009 at 5:57 am

i’m a pretty plain girl – almonds are my fave!!

AshB September 22, 2009 at 4:31 am

I’m a sucker for almond butter.

Zooey September 22, 2009 at 4:12 am

Cashews definitely top my list!

ohkansascity September 22, 2009 at 4:09 am

I can’t really eat a lot of whole nuts but my favorite nut butters have to be almond butter, and almond cashew butter. I’ve also recently tried sunflower seed butter on a whim and I have to say it is -quite- delicious. Especially dipped in crisp green apples.

Jane September 21, 2009 at 11:01 pm

Almonds! I like to believe they power my brain during late night study sessions! Currently munching on them right now 🙂

WholeBodyLove September 21, 2009 at 10:54 pm

My favorite nuts to eat raw are cashews and walnuts. However, for nut butters I prefer the usual almonds and peanuts!

Melissa September 21, 2009 at 10:48 pm

I love hazelnut butter…especially mixed with chocolate which essentially makes it nutella…hmmm

Stephanie (Surviving Chicago) September 21, 2009 at 10:47 pm

I don’t discriminate…I like all nuts (TWSS)! I guess if I had to choose, it’d be almonds.

caitlinarndt September 21, 2009 at 10:42 pm

This shouldn’t be a tough question, but I love each nut for different reasons! (except walnuts, they look too much like little brains…) Anyway… I would probably put cashews, pistachios and hazelnuts at the top of my list!

Betherann September 21, 2009 at 10:35 pm

My favorite nut? Just one?! Well, I do enjoy a good cashew…

Megan September 21, 2009 at 10:18 pm

My favorite nuts are Filberts. I love them, when I can splurge on them. Expensive, but so tasty.

broccolihut September 21, 2009 at 10:00 pm

Wow, this sounds glorious! I love so many nuts, that it would no longer be a dilemma in the morning choosing which nut butter to have;)
My favorite these days is good ol’ peanuts–it’s just so versatile!

nellieshaul September 21, 2009 at 9:51 pm

This stuff looks amazing! My favorite nut would have to be the pistachio though…

Gluten Free Taste of Home

Heather September 21, 2009 at 8:26 pm

I’d be nuts for Nuttzo.

jen September 21, 2009 at 8:21 pm

cashews, pine nuts, and hazelnuts definitely have to duke it out for supremacy of my taste buds!

Jenn (eating bender) September 21, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Nuttzo sounds nutso, but I like that 🙂 I think my favorite part is the jar – it looks too cool!

Dee September 21, 2009 at 8:14 pm

My favorite nut is my husband, Shon!

But I also love cashews, although I get extremely bloated after eating just one handful.

Thanks for the giveaway, Heather!!

Margarita September 21, 2009 at 8:11 pm

Oh man – there are just too many entries… how could I have missed Nuttzo post? Nuttzo is my middle name! 😉 hehe

Cashews are by FAR my favorite. If you take several at once and chew them long enough, they taste just like cookies! Only better for you though. I am known to eat an entire 16 oz bag of cashews in one sitting (which is about 15-20 minutes) and even after I want MORE! LOL

Shannon September 21, 2009 at 8:10 pm

All nuts! I can’t choose!

Gina G September 21, 2009 at 8:09 pm

i love basically all nuts! if i had to pick one it would have to be almonds! (especially dark coco ones)

krissa September 21, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Favorite??? That is a tough decision. Probably a tie between pecans and brazil nuts. But then again, cashews are great too. HARD TO CHOOSE! 🙂

Laura September 21, 2009 at 7:59 pm

I am addicted to raw cashews!

ohhmay September 21, 2009 at 7:58 pm

ohhmay September 21, 2009 at 7:57 pm

Ooh, It sounds delicious!!

My favorite nut would have to be cashews! Mmm, so good! But I really like all kinds. Walnuts and pecans are other favorites!
Thanks so much, Heather!
<3 jess

Jill September 21, 2009 at 7:28 pm

It’s hard to say I have one favorite nut. Cashews – yum…they are so buttery and lovely.

Almonds – remind me of my Grandpa who passed in 1987…we used to eat roasted almonds together all the time, you know when they used to come in a tin can?

Pistachios – my brother and I can tear through a bag of these in no time. And the red ones are more fun to eat because you get pink lips!

And of course, the every day peanut…I cannot go a day with out my natural peanut butter.

I guess every nut has a story…

Shelley September 21, 2009 at 7:24 pm

I have yet to meet a nut that I do not like. My loyalty, however, lies with the almonds.

Danielle September 21, 2009 at 7:24 pm

Cashews! mmmm!!

Annalisa September 21, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Love roasted pecans!

Shelby September 21, 2009 at 6:42 pm

Favorite Nut = Almonds!

jenell Brooks September 21, 2009 at 5:44 pm

I think Walnuts for eating, I am keen to try making some walnut butter soon. But if given a bag of mixed nuts, I would immediatley pick out all the brazil nuts.

Cecilia September 21, 2009 at 5:43 pm

ALMONDS!! I love and adore almonds!! I hope I win, fingers crossed

hayleycepeda September 21, 2009 at 5:39 pm

Oh WOW!!!! This stuff sounds fantastic! I am a huge fan of all nuts so having a jar of nut butter that contains so many mixed together sounds delicious.

I think my favorite nuts are almonds..they’re good raw, as a milk, and creamed into a nut butter. My mouth is salivating at the thought..:)

runningmind September 21, 2009 at 5:22 pm

Really? I have to pick just one? Ok, here’s a compromise: roasted brazil nuts, raw cashews. That nut butter sounds decadent!

Tammy September 21, 2009 at 5:18 pm

I was born in Oregon and the hazelnuts grown there are FANTASTIC!

Becky September 21, 2009 at 5:15 pm

I love love love almonds. And cashews come in a close second. I love that this has a ton of flax in it!

lynn September 21, 2009 at 4:28 pm

ooops…forgot to add~if the “nuttzo people” are looking to expand…send some up to Whole Foods or TJ’s…pretty please?

Mandy September 21, 2009 at 4:27 pm

nuts!! love ’em all. chunky brazils, creamy cashews, munchy hazels, salty peanuts, sweet almonds, waxy macademias, jewel-like pistachios, pretty pecans, earthy walnuts, and as for seeds…….well they are the superest of the superfoods!
favourites are always hard to chose, but I would have to say the sweet almonds. they are so willing to please – raw, roasted, salted, honeyed, smoked, flaked, chopped, whole, baked, ground. Oh the possibilities to enjoy are endless. love them every and all ways, but most of all – as a nut butter with a crispy crunchy green apple.

lynn September 21, 2009 at 4:26 pm

my favorite nut is my mother…close second is the almond:) raw, roasted, toasted…or ground up to butter:):):)

Emily (Healthy Fit Mama) September 21, 2009 at 4:14 pm

Katie September 21, 2009 at 3:58 pm

Almonds all the way!

But, they are especially good with dark chocolate…yummmm. 😀

Animal-Friendly 79 September 21, 2009 at 3:49 pm

My favorite nuts are cashews, by far.

Jen N. September 21, 2009 at 3:48 pm

Really? There is such a thing as a FAVORITE nut? I don’t even know where to go with this. Hmmm…well….this is hard. I guess the macadam…no, peca……walnu…ummm. Okay. I LIKE NUTS. A lot. =)

Samantha September 21, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Oh yum! I love anything with flax!

My favorite nuts are cashews. I’m not sure why, as I pretty much love the flavor of ALL nuts and gravitate towards almonds or macs. Partially I’m sure because they remind me of my dad, they were his favorite. I love them honey roasted, covered in chocolate…or even just plain RAW!

Sarah g. September 21, 2009 at 3:38 pm

oooh I have to choose just one? Ok macadamia fo sho.

Gina September 21, 2009 at 3:35 pm

I love walnuts and macadamias, YUM!

GeenyBeeny September 21, 2009 at 3:28 pm

My favorite “nut” is my husband – followed closely by toasted hazelnuts —

valerie September 21, 2009 at 3:27 pm

My favorite nut is a macadamia nut, but I also love almonds!

Morgan September 21, 2009 at 3:27 pm

Marcona almonds…a very special once-in-a-while treat. Love your blog!

Lauren September 21, 2009 at 3:26 pm

OMG!!!!! I neeeeeeeed this!!! My diet is so limited and I need all the nutrients I can get! I would be one happy girl if I win this!! 😀

Lisa D September 21, 2009 at 3:24 pm

casheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeews! of course

homecookedem September 21, 2009 at 3:20 pm

My favorite nuts are pecans! I am a Georgia girl all the way!! 🙂

Chris September 21, 2009 at 3:16 pm

It’s a toss. SOme days I love Almonds straight out of the bag. But somedays fresh dry roasted peanuts are just amazing. I don’t even want to get into nut butters cause I love them all.

Chelsea D. September 21, 2009 at 3:09 pm

I think my favorite nut would have to be an almond or a walnut. But my favorite nut better it almond for sure! Mmmm, I think I’m going to go have some now. 🙂

Claire Fairley September 21, 2009 at 3:09 pm

Walnuts! I make my own walnut butter to dollop on top my bowls of oat bran, which you turned me onto ;). Walnuts are also sooooo awesome in pesto!

Mary September 21, 2009 at 3:06 pm

All time favorite is pistachios…but I really like to get a good mix on cashews, brazil nuts, peanuts and almonds…so yummy!

Amanda September 21, 2009 at 2:55 pm

YUM! I would love to win this!! I really love pistachios!

Emily Davidson September 21, 2009 at 2:50 pm

I love nearly all nuts, but almonds have to be my number one. There really is nothing like almond butter!

Katie September 21, 2009 at 2:49 pm

I don’t know if I can pick a favorite nut! I’d probably go with almonds, because they are the most “versatile” (I enjoy almond butter, milk, and just plain old seeds), but I really can’t think of a nut I don’t like… other than the macadamia.

jodie September 21, 2009 at 2:49 pm

I really have 3 favs’ almonds, peanuts and pistachios.

danihainds September 21, 2009 at 2:36 pm

My favorite nut is my friend Jillian. My second favorite nut has be almonds, love the butter!

PS. I see another blogger named Dani. I’m the Colorado mountain Dani!

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 21, 2009 at 2:52 pm

Hey Colorado Mountain Dani. I love that nutty Jillian as well. 🙂

Kim September 21, 2009 at 2:33 pm

I love almonds a lot, but I’d probably have to pick pistachios as my favorite nut. Thanks for sharing the info about Nuttzo; it definitely sounds great and worth seeking out!

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) September 21, 2009 at 2:32 pm

I’m in love with Almonds! I used to keep them in my desk at work just in case I got the munchies–turns out I can’t be trusted with an open can of almonds.

Sweetie Pie September 21, 2009 at 2:22 pm

My favorite nuts are probably pecans. My parents have a lot of pecan trees in their yard so, while pecans could be my favorite based on deliciousness alone, they also have the added benefit of reminding me of home. 🙂

Nuttzo sounds interesting! Thanks for sharing the Nuttzo love.

nicolegodiva September 21, 2009 at 2:16 pm

My favorite nut is the pine nut, because it makes the best raw cheeses and it is one that I can’t afford to buy all the time… !!

Jenn September 21, 2009 at 2:16 pm

My fav nut is the almond! Polly hooked me on buying raw almonds, but before eating…toast them in the oven! They’re not chewy, but yummy crunchy goodness:) Thanks for sharing, Heather!

Missy (Missy Maintains) September 21, 2009 at 2:15 pm

I love pistachios!! Those look so good!

Lara September 21, 2009 at 2:12 pm

almonds are my favorite. That nut butter sounds really good.

Claudia September 21, 2009 at 2:08 pm

Yummy! I loooooooooooove nut butter.
I’d have to say that almonds are my top favorite, closely followed by walnuts, then hazelnuts.

KK September 21, 2009 at 2:03 pm

cashews are my favorite!

Steph September 21, 2009 at 1:57 pm

I love almonds!!!

Marissa September 21, 2009 at 1:55 pm

Holy Yum!

That would look lovely on my pudding 🙂

Deb September 21, 2009 at 1:55 pm

My favorite nut is almonds. I’d love to try the nuttzo butter!

Daria (Summer of the CSAs) September 21, 2009 at 1:52 pm

My favorite nut to eat plain is the pistachio, but almonds win for their versatility. I drink almond milk every day and eat almond butter like it’s my job. 😉

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 21, 2009 at 1:54 pm

Daria, Wow, we must be employed by the same company. [?]

Mia September 21, 2009 at 1:47 pm

Almonds are my favorite.

This nut butter sounds amazing – I’d really love to try it 😀

Ariel September 21, 2009 at 1:46 pm

I love pecans– so velvety and delicious.

KL September 21, 2009 at 1:42 pm

My favorite is pecans!! YUMMM!!

heatherfeather September 21, 2009 at 1:41 pm

I love love love almonds – straight up or in butter form! there is a company that makes some yummy Coco-nuts, almonds rolled in cocoa powder that are pretty tasty, too.

Lisa September 21, 2009 at 1:34 pm

What an awesome giveaway! My favorite nut is cashews, but my favorite nut butter is almond. 🙂

I love hazelnuts.. especially with chocolate!

fruitsveggieslife September 21, 2009 at 1:24 pm

My favorite nut? Almond – so versatile, so simple, and so delicious.

Patty September 21, 2009 at 1:22 pm

Cashews are the best.

specialkphd September 21, 2009 at 1:16 pm

MY FAVORITE nut is my brother….he’s definitely NOT smooth…

Sharon September 21, 2009 at 1:11 pm

This is a tough question. Pistachios, almonds, pecans, and cashews are all up there. So are peanuts. I can’t pick!

RunToTheFinish September 21, 2009 at 1:00 pm

I have to pick just one nut…man you’re tough. Gosh I guess…my favorite is cashews right now

Ashley September 21, 2009 at 12:59 pm

I absolutely LOVE regular ole peanuts, almonds and a newly favorite walnuts.

lauren September 21, 2009 at 12:59 pm

I love macadamia nuts… but a good organic almond butter with apples is awesome too.

beth September 21, 2009 at 12:58 pm

pistachios!! mmm…looooove them!

Colleen S September 21, 2009 at 12:58 pm

That looks and sounds amazing! I always have a container of mixed nuts in the house to snack on. Walnuts and almonds are probably my favorite 🙂 Also a new favorite is almond butter!

Lisa September 21, 2009 at 12:58 pm

This looks yummy. My fav nuts are almonds and cashews!!!

Mary September 21, 2009 at 12:54 pm

My favorite nut is almond!!! mmmm I love almonds

Sara September 21, 2009 at 12:49 pm

Mmm. I love flax and nut butter!

As far as my favorite nut, it’s a tie between almonds and cashews.

Becky September 21, 2009 at 12:47 pm

I love almonds! Well all nuts really, but almonds are probably the clear winner.

Rosie September 21, 2009 at 12:46 pm

I am always so intrigued by all these kerazy nut butters I see all over the blogs!
My favourite nut would probably be Brazil nuts. Though almonds and walnuts are definitely up there. But give me a handful of mixed nuts any day. Variety is key 😀

Liesl September 21, 2009 at 12:44 pm

This nut butter looks exciting and delicious!!
My favorite nut just to eat is probably cashews, but when it comes to nut butter, definitely almond, raw & creamy from TJs…to die for!

Justine September 21, 2009 at 12:44 pm

Hmmm, my favorite nut has got to be cashew followed closely by pecans, walnuts and almonds. If you were asking about favorite nut butter I would have to say peanut!!!

Love You HEABs!!!

Maria September 21, 2009 at 12:44 pm

Hmmm, my favorite nut is a close tie between peanut and almond, in butter form of course! I like almond butter raw and peanut roasted 😀

Tiffany S. September 21, 2009 at 12:32 pm

Holy Cannoli – look at all these responses!

I’m partial to the cashew. Those spicy Thai cashews from Trader Joe’s are my all-time fave! 🙂

PS. Thanks for being so informative about the flax seed. I was gonna weigh in on ground vs. unground but you have it covered. Excellent!

Bridget September 21, 2009 at 12:28 pm

Marcona Almonds mmmm…

Kakuke September 21, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Favourite nut uh? 🙂
Because these can be roasted or eaten raw (yummy on my morning oatmeal), on cakes or inside the cake, in salads or with the chicken. And one of the best treats is roasted caramel coated almonds 🙂

Faith September 21, 2009 at 12:18 pm

hmmm..well you’re pretty nutty….
but if we’re talking edible nuts….depends on what im eating, i dont think there is one i really don’t like though!!! almonds, cashews, and pistachios beware!!

FoodCents September 21, 2009 at 12:17 pm

Almonds and cashews win, for me. I like peanuts, but since they are not really a “nut”, almonds and cashews do it for this gal’!!!

Maria September 21, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Favorite nut? Besides peanuts (in butter form), I’d have to say walnuts. They’re so versatile, buttery, delicious… mm! Anything from pesto to banana nut cookies… I have to go bake now.

Maja September 21, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Hey Heather…My favorite nutbutter is ALMOND 🙂 I have it on oatmeal every morning… And the second best is ofcourse PB, which is always good with carrot-sticks… (or on its own – we all the trick with spoon + open jar = PB-looove) Take care Heather…

Holly September 21, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Mmmmm… sounds delish!!

My favorite nut is a peanut, but my favorite nut butter is sunbutter!

fartygirl September 21, 2009 at 12:08 pm

My favorite nut?

Probably you, Heather! Durt!

But seriously. It depends on how they are prepared, doesn’t it? Almond makes the best butter. Cashews have the perfect soft crunch to them. Walnuts are AMAZING in soy yogurt and cinnamon. Macadamia are so creamy and rich, espesh in trail mix with some dried apricots.

I’m thinking… what nut is the best, no matter what form it’s eaten in?

Almond. It makes the best milk, butter, and sauce. Plus almonds are so tasty just eaten raw. My favorite thing about them?

They don’t make me fart. 🙂

Elyse September 21, 2009 at 12:08 pm

Definitely ALMONDS, in any form. Is it against HEAB policy to say I love them covered in chocolate? 😉 If not, then I have to mention hazelnuts…in the form of Nutella. I know, I know…

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 21, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Elyse, Chocolate covered almonds are always okay in my book…but that Nutella…dangerous stuff! 😉

Marina September 21, 2009 at 12:08 pm

I love all nuts except walnuts. But I do enjoy cashews more than others, maybe just because they are more expensive and harder to find 🙂

Julie September 21, 2009 at 12:07 pm

It’s a tie between almonds and cashews! This looks great!

Vee September 21, 2009 at 12:01 pm

ALMONDS! I eat them plain, salted, toasted, shelled, milk, butter…. You name ‘almond’ and I eat it! 😉

tmart September 21, 2009 at 12:00 pm

cashew! and cashew butter! so soft and good…mmm..

Tabitha September 21, 2009 at 11:59 am

What a lovely story behind the genesis of the product.
My favourite nuts are pecans -ooh a handful of them and a cup of Joe and I’m in heaven.

Kath September 21, 2009 at 11:56 am

It’s a tie: peanuts and walnuts!

Jennifer September 21, 2009 at 11:50 am

i hope i win!

Meg September 21, 2009 at 11:49 am

My favorite nut is pistachios – they are so addicting! They’re pretty dang healthy, too – one of the healthiest nuts around 😉

Crossing my fingers 🙂 that nut butter looks amazing!

Susan September 21, 2009 at 11:46 am

I’m old school, I love peanuts! Although chocolate covered almonds are pretty darn good too 😉

Jessica September 21, 2009 at 11:46 am

ooo id love to try this nut butter! it sounds awesome! i bet it would be amazing on bananas… lol!

Shannon September 21, 2009 at 11:45 am

My favorite nut? Probably almonds when they’re consumed in buttered form 🙂 This looks awesome!

junghwa September 21, 2009 at 11:42 am

mixture of all those yummyness is awesome! Thanks for the giveaway~

Stephanie September 21, 2009 at 11:41 am

my favorite nut is probably pistachios– but i’ve never heard of pistachio nut butter…. yet 😉

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 21, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Stephanie, I’ve made pistachio nut butter before. It was super salty and green. If I ever make it again, I’d go with unsalted nuts.

Harley September 21, 2009 at 11:34 am

My favorite are cashews! It recently changed, it was originally almond for a looong time.

Ellen September 21, 2009 at 11:29 am

i’m torn between almonds and hazelnuts. both are so delicious and flavorful!

Erika September 21, 2009 at 11:21 am

That looks so good! I love almonds plain or in anything.

Katie September 21, 2009 at 11:19 am

This may sound weird, but I actually don’t like nuts on their own but I love nut butter. I eat a ton of it to get the health benefits of nuts though…and because it is so good!

leangreenliving September 21, 2009 at 11:19 am

I’m trying to love the Brazil Nut. He has so many benefits for our bods. The underdog who is actually the star?

Scott in Ohio September 21, 2009 at 11:17 am

I won’t be a total dork and type the first thought that came to mind…my dog. (~:

Instead, I’ll go with cashews.

Jennifer September 21, 2009 at 11:17 am

Mmm this looks yummy! Hmm hard to pick a favorite because I really love all nuts but I think almonds take the top spot.

Bridget September 21, 2009 at 11:14 am

My fave whole nut is definitely almonds! But as far as nut butters go, I’d have to go with sunflower seeds. Not technically a nut, but close enough.

Kristen September 21, 2009 at 11:13 am

What a great story behind Nuttzo!

My favorite nut is the walnut, but it wins by a VERY small margin over almonds, cashews, and brazil nuts!!

Amen, Heather, this rain is such a bummer!

Sarah R September 21, 2009 at 11:12 am

I love almonds. I love how crunchy they are!

Michelle September 21, 2009 at 11:10 am

my favorite nut would have to be the macadamian. But I do love them all, brazil nuts are fab, so are walnuts, and cashews and almonds. Oh and pecans, I am making myself hungry!

Emily September 21, 2009 at 11:10 am

raw cashews have to be my favorite, although lately raw walnuts are giving them a run for their money.

thanks for another great giveaway!

Natalie September 21, 2009 at 11:03 am

do i have to pick a favorite? i love them all! if i HAD to pick one though, i’d probably choose cashews

The Foodie Diaries September 21, 2009 at 11:03 am

Cashews are my all-time favorite. The saltier, the better 🙂

Danielle September 21, 2009 at 11:01 am

my favorite nuts are brazil nuts!

allijag September 21, 2009 at 11:00 am

What an awesome story! 🙂

My favorite nut – pistachio, cashew, or roasted almonds 🙂

Kelsey September 21, 2009 at 10:59 am

i love cashews and hazelnuts!!!

claire chiancone September 21, 2009 at 10:55 am

I love love love peanuts… Boiled, roasted, butter, etc. I went to a friend’s house one night for din din. Everything had cheese on it( she totally forgot I’m lactose intolerant). Hehe… They had a huge jar of roasted peanuts and I ate like half the jar. I got so sick:-) they were so good! Of course, I have to have boiled peanuts at baseball games.( yes, I eat waaaay too many of those, too.)cc

Chelsea September 21, 2009 at 10:54 am

Macadamia nuts for sure. I have some flax PB from Trader Joes, and I really like that, so I’d probably like this stuff, too.

Melanie September 21, 2009 at 10:44 am

I’d say it’s a 3 way tie for me – Macademia nuts, Brazil nuts and hazlenuts! But then again – I like any nut too!

angiolle September 21, 2009 at 10:39 am

My favorite type of nuts are almonds, but peanuts are a close second!!

jacobc September 21, 2009 at 10:39 am

My favorite nut? you! lol

Oh, the other kind.. I would have to go with honey roasted peanuts!- perfect mix of sweet and salty..
And butter-wise, i would go with almond butter.

Maggie September 21, 2009 at 10:37 am

My favorite nut is probably the cashew. I love them – so nutty and sweet 🙂

Jenna H September 21, 2009 at 10:37 am

Wow that looks awesome! i hope i win! my favorite nuts are walnuts. i don’t eat them that often because they are pricy but they are delicious and so good for you!!!

Michelle September 21, 2009 at 10:37 am

By far, my favorite nut is the almond. Followed closely by pistachios! 🙂

Carolyn September 21, 2009 at 10:32 am

Nothing can beat the good old almond (roasted with a little salt) for me… But that new nut buttah looks really cool and i would love to be the wiener of your contest… 😉

Hallie September 21, 2009 at 10:30 am

Hmmm…this stuff looks interesting. I think my favorite nuts are cashews…but I’m really not all that picky. I like almonds and walnuts and pine nuts (do those count?) and macadamia nuts…oh not brazil nuts though. For some reasons those are gross to me.

Annie September 21, 2009 at 10:30 am

My fav nuts are definitely sprouted pumpkin seeds w/ celtic sea salt… No contest. They’re addicting!

Jessica September 21, 2009 at 10:28 am

I love almonds – but my MOST favorite almond is Blue Diamond Salt ‘n Vinegar almonds. Ohmigosh they are to die for!

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 21, 2009 at 10:32 am

Oh my gosh – I used to love salt ‘n vinegar chips, and I did not know Blue Diamond made this flavor combo with almonds. I MUST TRY THIS. 🙂

Food Makes Fun Fuel September 21, 2009 at 10:28 am

I’m a lover of the good ol’ peanut. Couldn’t have peanut butter without it!

Alix September 21, 2009 at 10:22 am

My favorite nut has to be the cashew. I love them so much I named my fledgling blog after them. In Costa Rica a few years ago I actually got to check out the cashew tree in its natural habitat, which was totally awesome. Cashews are seriously like crack to me- My husband’s coworker buys him giant tubs from Costco and I have to make him hide them from me. Crack!

Melissa G September 21, 2009 at 10:20 am

This stuff looks so cool! I would love to win this :)My fav nuts are either cashews or almonds, but isn’t it weird that my favorite nut butter is peanut butter?? I never thought about that until now. Hmmm… the things you learn replying to blog posts. Thanks Heather and Nuttzo!!

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 21, 2009 at 10:25 am

Hi Mel! Hope you’re enjoying some sun out there in Colorado. 6th day in a row of rain and no sun here in Nashville. 🙁 My heart is aching for those mountains!

Red Head, Yellow Dog September 21, 2009 at 10:20 am

yumm that looks so good!

Stephanie September 21, 2009 at 10:18 am

Sorry, slurp my fav is almond…so far 🙂 he he

Jenny September 21, 2009 at 10:17 am

whoa bay bay this sounds bangin’! my favorite nut is the almond.. swoon! <3

Ozlen September 21, 2009 at 10:16 am

I love hazeulnuts. And I hope to finally win something :)They would taste yummy on my morning bowl of oats, or with bread and mushy bananas

Stephanie September 21, 2009 at 10:15 am

Yummmm!!! This nut butta looks amazingz….I am drooling all over my phone right now…slurp

JENNA September 21, 2009 at 10:14 am

favorite nut=cashew favorite nutbuttah=almond! 🙂 great review/giveaway! 🙂

Linda September 21, 2009 at 10:12 am

My favorite nuts are pistachios… when I eat them they bring back good memories of my mom. I also love almonds. 🙂

This nut butter looks like it would be a good addition to my new multi grain cereal/oatmeal combo. It would also be a nice change since I have only had peanut butter.

Brandi September 21, 2009 at 10:10 am

wow, this looks and sounds awesome! I’ve never had a nut butter with flax in it before.

my favorite nut would probably be brazil nuts – I don’t know what it is about them! But I also love almonds and walnuts.

Lauren September 21, 2009 at 10:10 am

I love macadamia nuts!

Emily September 21, 2009 at 10:06 am

Can I add some qualifications!? 🙂 My favorite nuts in nut form are definitely cashews but in nut butter form are definitely almonds. I love the idea of Nuttzo! 🙂

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) September 21, 2009 at 10:03 am

My fave nut…hmmmm, cashews or peanuts. Thanks for the giveaway Miss Heather, you’re so thoughtful for all of us 🙂

Krystina September 21, 2009 at 10:01 am

haha, I think every nut is my favorite! although, probably peanuts for nut butter and cashews for eating.

Alisa - Frugal Foodie September 21, 2009 at 9:59 am

You mean I have to choose? I can’t, I just can’t! Almonds for “butter,” cashews for creating creamy dreamy, pecans for snacking, peanuts because peanut butter is still close to a perfect food, pine nuts for richness … did I mention I am an indecisive Libra? And I want to try this nut butter!!

maren September 21, 2009 at 9:58 am

almonds are my favorite nut! love them raw, roasted, in granola, or as almond butter!!! great giveaway

Gloria September 21, 2009 at 9:57 am

This is really hard, but I think I’d have to say cashews in whole form. They are so buttery and sinful tasting. In butter form, sunflower seed is hands down my favorite. I have to hide the TJ’s sunflower seed butter or else my spoon will be in that jar every time I open up the pantry!

Jenn September 21, 2009 at 9:56 am

Almonds for sure!

farebear September 21, 2009 at 9:55 am

If I’m eating nuts plain, my favorite is cashews. They are so decadent tasting!

April September 21, 2009 at 9:54 am

I can’t pick just one..I really LOVE them all! If I had to though I would go with hazlenut as well.

Anne September 21, 2009 at 9:51 am

I love hazelnuts! They’re delicious on their own or with other nuts/flavors (chocolate…)

Kristen September 21, 2009 at 9:49 am

I absolutely love sliced almonds. I like whole ones too but I put slices almonds on (and in) everything. So yummy.

Heather Ezell September 21, 2009 at 9:48 am

This looks absolutely incredible. It’d be ideal for me – as I can’t have too much of one single type of nut because of my low intolerance.

Anyhow, my favorite nut is definitely the cashew. It’s so, so, so versatile (love all of Choosing Raw’s recipes!) and mild, and plus, it’s the one nut I’m not intolerant too! 😉

Lauren September 21, 2009 at 9:48 am

Peanuts all the way! Peanut butter, honey roasted, in the shell, salted, plain, spicy, yum yum!

Katie September 21, 2009 at 9:48 am

Good question! I love pistachios, peanuts and almonds 🙂

peaceandpeanutbutter September 21, 2009 at 9:47 am

My favorite nut is definitely the CASHEW!

Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to try this nut butter. Thanks heather!

Clare September 21, 2009 at 9:47 am

My favorites are definitely pistachios! They’re the best snack ever

Kyle September 21, 2009 at 9:47 am

I have to say my favorite nut is…..all nuts?! I can’t pick! I’ve gone through phases of eating all of them, and boy was my macadamia nut kick a doozy. Now I’m into walnuts. But I never forget the peanuts! I’d LOVE to try this butter.

Bethany Cross September 21, 2009 at 9:44 am

I can’t get away from plain ol’ peanuts. So tasty…perfect in their natural saltiness and so satisfying with bananas, apples, preserves, oatmeal, toast…anything!

Lauren A. September 21, 2009 at 9:42 am

i loooove cashews! thanks for the giveaway!

Graze With Me September 21, 2009 at 9:41 am

I love raw almonds and cashews. Both are fabulous in nut and nut butter form.

I’d love to give this stuff a try, it’s such a great idea. The jars are interesting too, with the upside down label. That’s how I store all my nut butters that require mixing until I’m ready to open them.

Suzanne September 21, 2009 at 9:41 am

I LOVE cashews! They are so delicious! I love how hearty and smooth they are! Plus, they have more protein than any other nut!

Almonds come in a close second 😉

Anne September 21, 2009 at 9:41 am

My favorite nut is almond. This was hard to decide because cashew butter is bomb and walnuts have outstanding omega-3’s. But the almond tastes great raw, roasted, mixed into a butter, in trail mix and has great protein, fat, fiber and carbs. Maranatha is awesome!

Lori September 21, 2009 at 9:39 am

I can’t decide between cashews and macadamias. But when it comes to nut butters it will always be peanut or almond butter. Ok, I love sunflower seed butter too…

Kate September 21, 2009 at 9:38 am

This looks amazing and delicious! I love the almond – there’s so much you can do with it! Thanks Heather! 🙂

Meghan September 21, 2009 at 9:36 am

I love cashews! I just wish I weren’t allergic to them 🙁

Liz September 21, 2009 at 9:35 am

More yummy nut butters — yay! I love brazil nuts.

Christina September 21, 2009 at 9:35 am

That’s a neat product idea! I would say my favorite nuts are Cashew and Walnuts… at least this morning they are!

Wow, this stuff looks interesting! My favorite nut is the pistachio, but they are pretty expensive (compared to other nuts) so I don’t eat them a lot. Second favorite, and most accessible, is the almond. I prefer to eat it in the form of almond butter or almond milk. Yum!

My favorite nut = it’s hard to choose just one, but I’ve always had a particular love for hazelnuts. So rich & smooth tasting. Love them.

my favorite nut is the walnut. they are so chewy and have a great taste. i also think they remind me of fall/winter. i love when food reminds you of a certain season!

Cashews are my favorite nuts!

Growing up was always peanuts, but the top spot now goes to almonds, if only for almond butter alone 🙂

Robin September 21, 2009 at 9:27 am

Macademia nuts are my fave but I hardly ever eat them. I much prefer my nuts in butter form!

Abby September 21, 2009 at 9:24 am

Favorite? That’s hard, seeing as my grandpa opened “The Nut Bar” back when my mom was a kid, so I grew up eating them all (for free)! It used to be cashews and pistachios, but now I think I would have to go with the almond.

I love almond butter and anything almond flavored (although I haven’t tried to make my own cashew butter yet, so that might be delightful as well.)

Anyway, great giveaway! I’m a huge flax fan, so I’m intrigued…

My favorite nuts are definitely almonds. They go well in sweet or savory dishes, and are really great eaten just plain and raw, or made into nut butter. 🙂

Steph September 21, 2009 at 9:24 am

almonds straight from the bag. delicious 🙂

my favorite nut is the cashew. love it raw, roasted, salted, as butter, or soaked and as a cream or milk. there’s just so many things you can do with it. it always seems like a treat to me when compared to other nuts!

Brazil nuts are most definitely my favorite! Thanks for the giveaway 🙂

Hi HEAB. I generally regulate myself to occasional blog reader/non-commenter, but I could not pass up this opportunity. I’m a fan of all nuts – my hubby and I go through copious amounts of mixed nuts. But I suppose if I had to choose one and only for life it’d be those precious little almonds. Almond milk, almond butter, roasted almonds, slivered almonds. I think they are the most versatile AND the most delicious. Although Brazil nuts come in a close second, with raw cashews right there, too…. And pecans, I do like pecans. And dang, macadamia nuts are nice. See, here is the problem. I like em’ all!

My favorite nut is the hazelnut! I love it toasted and shells peeled. It has the best aroma and flavor. It goes great with chocolate which is another favorite item I like to enjoy.

Erica September 21, 2009 at 9:19 am

WOW I want to try this so bad! Hmm favorite nut- I really love walnuts and brazil nuts. But I can’t live without my peanut and almond butters so they’re pretty important to! Glad you had a nice weekend 🙂

Hoooray for nut butter.

My favorite nut is probably macadamia nuts but I mostly eat cashews (to make “cheese” and almonds.
