This recipe was nutty, refreshing, slightly sweet, and SO delicious.  You may never see it on the menu at Baskin Robbins, but it’s going to be a regular in the HEAB kitchen. :)

Jordan September 30, 2009 at 10:31 am

That is awesome! Oh the possibilities with the right appliances on hand. I’m amending my appliance wish list to include a vitamix. Looks delicious

Alix September 30, 2009 at 10:53 am

YES PLEASE!!!

Chelsea September 30, 2009 at 11:03 am

Yeah… a little weird, but I’m feeling it.

Kristen September 30, 2009 at 11:20 am

Brilliant! Must…get…tahini.

Lara (Thinspired) September 30, 2009 at 11:27 am

Ok Heabs, I can’t lie. This sounds weird. But you know what? I trust your taste buds. I would eat it.

fitforfree September 30, 2009 at 11:36 am

Oh my gosh, this sounds so wonderful!!! I’ve been enjoying tahini and jam on toast ever since my almond butter ran out the other day, and I’m now a convert for tahini + sweetness. Wish I had an ice-cream maker! YUM!

missyrayn September 30, 2009 at 11:36 am

LOL I that this might be it after your hazelnut creation last week.

janetha September 30, 2009 at 11:42 am

your creativity never ceases to amaze me!

Paula September 30, 2009 at 11:46 am

Great job! Thanks for the tempeh suggestions. I made it last night. It was great. I made tahini, lime, honey, olive oil dressing to go with in on my spinich salad. Thanks again HEAB!

Sarah (LovIN My Tummy) September 30, 2009 at 2:47 pm

Holy heck! I just said, “Oh no she di’int.” Our tongues are on the same wavelength…I tried to make something like this last night but used too much guar gum and it tasted like paste. Boo.

Shelby September 30, 2009 at 2:47 pm

HORRAY FOR TAHINI ICE CREAM!!!

Bekah September 30, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Marissa September 30, 2009 at 4:24 pm

You drive me crazy with ice cream envy!

Reigne September 30, 2009 at 4:25 pm

Wow. That looks soo good!

I guessed before you started teasing! Does this mean I’m psychic now?
(Haha. No.)

Do you think that something else could be substituted for the So Good creamer? They don’t sell anything like that here in Aus. (Or any creamers at all for that matter!)

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 30, 2009 at 4:40 pm

Reigne – you could try the tahini ice-cream with coconut milk or cashew cream: http://heathereatsalmondbutter.com/2009/04/18/heat-the-salmon-butt/

Kim C. September 30, 2009 at 4:31 pm

wanted to thank you for inviting me to dinner last night.. it was so much fun! I can’t wait for us to get together again…

Heather Eats Almond Butter September 30, 2009 at 4:41 pm

Kim, Yes, so good to see you again. Let’s hang out again…sooner than later. :)

N.D. September 30, 2009 at 4:58 pm

wow – this tahini thing has become out of control! haha. Looks great!

Abby @ Abby's VeGan Eats September 30, 2009 at 5:02 pm

WOW, super different. I must say, I would not think to make ice cream out of tahini. Somehow you make it looks delish. I dont have an ice cream maker :( Might have to vary this one a tad!!

Jess September 30, 2009 at 5:12 pm

Wow, sounds neat! Love your creativity :)

Erin September 30, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Mercy.

Nicole September 30, 2009 at 6:40 pm

You’re awesome Heather. I really am wishing you lived closer to me. Tahini ice cream? No one else but you and I love it.

Tyler September 30, 2009 at 7:02 pm

Love it! I will try almost anything in ice cream form :)

boutoflevity September 30, 2009 at 7:16 pm

Looks delish!

glidingcalm September 30, 2009 at 7:50 pm

damnnnnnnnnnnn gurl. that sounds amazing

Emily September 30, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Oh my goodness, Heather. You are certainly the most creative tahini user in the blogworld! I have so many new things to try with my tahini rather than just using it to make hummus.

Vicki September 30, 2009 at 8:13 pm

How does the calorie content stack up on this? Do you think it’ll work for those of us not wanting too many calories..? I REALLY need to find a place that sells that creamer! You are so creative, Heather!!!

Heather Eats Almond Butter October 1, 2009 at 7:17 am

Vicki, The creamer has 160 calories per cup. 2 TBSP tahini has 190, and 2 tsp honey has about 40 calories. Therefore, the whole serving contains 390 calories or 195 calories per 1/2 cup. I also made a batch using just *1 TBSP* tahini and *1 tsp* honey bringing the calorie count down to 260 for the whole serving. I thought it was really good, but doubling those 2 ingredients does add more flavor. If you use soy, you could try making a lighter version with silken tofu and soy milk.

Devan Geselle N September 30, 2009 at 8:47 pm

im SO inlove with your tahini creations.
daaang !

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) September 30, 2009 at 9:00 pm

HEABS you’ve out-done yourself. I’m a bit afraid to ask about the calorie count- any idea what a 1/2 cup serving would be??? Just curious.

BTW I have my TAHINI smoothie concoction in my brain and I shall try it out tomorrow- your challenge really made my brain spew smoke and almost blew a fuse!! Keepin’ me on my toes, HEABster!

Heather Eats Almond Butter October 1, 2009 at 7:19 am

Deb, Can’t wait to read about your tahini smoothie! Calorie info. for ice-cream: The creamer has 160 calories per cup.

Samantha October 1, 2009 at 2:57 am

Wow…yum! I just stuffed myself with Heidi’s double broccoli quinoa and am now hungry again!

CaSaundra October 1, 2009 at 7:05 am

Looks like you’re having a paaartay with your ice cream maker–I know I do! Ha ha. Just made some pumpkin pie ice cream yesterday–heavenly! I like to use guar gum for a chewier ice cream, it’s really good!

luckytastebuds October 1, 2009 at 8:27 am

hahah OMG who would have thought?!?!? I love coming to HEABS to check out what new ideas to play with my food. I guess tahini ice-cream would kind of be like sesame ice-cream in flavor no? I can imagine it would be yummy with red beans in it too. hehehe

Heather Eats Almond Butter October 1, 2009 at 8:28 am

LuckyTasteBuds,Yes, sesame flavored ice-cream. So delicious! :)

hayleycepeda October 1, 2009 at 12:44 pm

I guessed right!! I didn’t think it was possible, but man this looks GOOD!!

Lauren January 28, 2011 at 5:10 pm

Mmmm… this sounds so delicious! I am in love with my ice cream maker – I’ll have to whip up a batch of this sometime!

sheila @ Elements March 20, 2011 at 9:05 am

This sounds wonderful!! I don’t have an ice cream maker because I always make ice creams without one. I’ll definitely try your recipe and see how it turns out without using an ice cream maker. It looks so good!! Can’t wait! :) Thanks! :)
